Photos: RCCG members asked to show their PVC in church

Members of Redeem Christian Church of God Victory house in Festac town and other branches were asked to show their Permanent Voters Cards during church service today.

Pastor Adeboye, Friday night, reiterated his call on members to ensure that they get their permanent voter cards, to enable them exercise their civic responsibility during next month’s general elections.

Speaking on the theme, ‘The Burden Bearer’, during the church monthly Holy Ghost Service held at the Redemption Camp, Adeboye said the voter card is the only power the people have during election. He reminded the congregation that everyone was expected to collect and bring his/her card to the church on the first Sunday of January, saying that parish pastors will request for it. More pics after the cut...

  27. Christians! Pls let's not be too quick to judge o. I see nothing wrong with a church praying to choose the right leader ( although I don't think taking the PVC to church is necessary but if God instructs otherwise, then who are we to question?). Let's stop this attitude of thinking that politics is for other religions or for people who call themselves christians but act otherwise (e.g.Abati and co). If the lion is not careful, the goat will take it's crown. It just simply means that if we do not involve ourselves in the political matters, then we cannot complain about those who lead us. I'm not an RCCG member and will never be one but I see nothing wrong in praying to choose wisely. Na God get all knowledge and wisdom o. E don already know wetin go happen.

  46. Linda, Pastor Adeboye told everyone to get their PVC's at the congress in December, long before Prof Osibajo was announced as VP. Besides, I attend Victory house and all we were told was to ensure we register to vote, a message that should be encouraged by everyone including you. You are supposed to be a journalist, a little research prior to posting news will do you a world of good and make you seem less like a kangaroo reporter.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Its really dense for anyone to say reigion shoud be separated from poitics. Poitics and governance are one and the same. How we as citizens are governed affects every area of our lives. If we had good roads, great power suppy, jobs we will have less dubious people in the church commiting despicable atrocities. If we can get genuine people from the church in government will corruption not dwindle, won't salaries be paid on time. Think people think. First it was that they wanted to islamize us now its Christians shouldn't be involved in poitics. This is indeed a generation of vipers! And trust me 8 of 10 of us would have cried "crucify him" if we were at Jesus' crucifixion!

    ReplyDelete
  48. Linda, verify things before you post them. Pastor Adeboye gave this directive in December, long before Prof Osibajo was announced as VP. News verification isn't rocket science miss, you should try it.

  49. Exactly! Churches must encourage the flock to do the right thing

  50. Nawah. Everbody and churches r now indirectly turning into politicians. The house of God is now becoming a polling ground. Small time now they will tell them who to vote for and they will agree cuz 'daddy' said so.

  51. Na wah oooo holy ghost go enter the card and direct the voters lol

    ReplyDelete
  52. Correct move. Pastors should influence their congregations to excercise their civic duties. God will not come down to solve our problems. We have to do our responsibility and then pray thereafter.

    May God help us all.

  54. Linda and all u people... it's just to ensure that members perform their civic duty. it's to encourage them to register and vote.... there is absolutely nothing wrong with this. if anything, it's d church informing and educating it's congregation. At church today we were encouraged to make sure we get our voters card and are sure we vote.

    ReplyDelete
  55. No crime in what the church is doing....they just encourage all to make sure they vote for who the think will change things for them.....the era of sidon look and just assume Jesus will come to nigeria to help us solve our issues is gone.we should use our vote to change things and it there is nothing wrong if it starts from the church.

  57. People can like to talk rubbish ehn...Pastor Adeboye has been talking about getting PVC even before APC chose oshinbajo...Some of you better watch what you say about men of God. 66. I was in church today when my parish pastor asked all with their PVC to raise it up. And the prayer point was; " God any man not ordained by u should not be allowed to rule Nigeria. Let only the one whom u have ordained emerge victorious" I do not think that the prayer was for anyone in particular.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Ms Linda, how come you are just reporting this news. The G.Ohas been encouraging RCCG MEMBERS to register to vote months before the APC primaries, now you you dim it fit as news because of the RCCG pastor. Be objective and unbiased in you reporting, Linda for GEJ Confirmed.

  69. Church and politics.....this is very wrong... even Jesus avoided politics and the disciples never got involved in it. christains are not supposed to stain demselfs with this politics.

  70. When a church ignores the bible and evangelism and embrace the politics of the day, SMH. Jesus never had anything to do with the government of the day! What have PVCs to do with making heaven.

If the church is preaching that the end is near, how can the same church be turning the pews to political platform?
