A man reportedly jumped from 3rd Mainland Bridge into the lagoon this morning

A few people have written to me this morning saying they saw a well dressed man driving a Toyota Sienna who parked on Third Mainland bridge, calmly walked over the rails and jumped into the sea. They said it happened so fast they couldn't believe they had witnessed an apparent suicide. Hopefully, we will get more details when government agencies in charge of such things get involved.

  32. Hmm who or what is at work here, it's very painful to hear that, but I don't know why a sane man would drive to a bridge and jump into the sea, no matter what happened I'm pretty sure suicide isn't the solution (hope you understand me)

  35. Oh dear Lord have mercy! People please let us be strong. Look around and find weaker people who are even worse off. Helping them, who knows, can empower us to become hopeful again. No matter what it is, how we react to it is more important. On any bad car - wrecking bad road always remember: you are the Hummer, the Tundra, the caterpillar. Others break down, you power on, and soon enough, you hit a good, well tarred stretch. Blessings.

    ReplyDelete
  64. oh wow. how very sad. I write this cuz I v contemplated suicide severally. was at d breach of taking my own life sometime last year.. cz I was running away from the shame a sin I commited brought to me. the humiliation the people I had stolen from caused me. they called my loved ones and family members in a bid to embarrass me. my picture was even posted somewhere. but what did I do? I genuinely repented and was still living in guilt. I wanted to take my own life. I said to myself, 'even though I jump off the cliff sinless, the fact that I have killed myself drowns me again in sin.'. I couldn't suffer in hell the way I suffered on earth. so I'm here to testify. life gets tough. people break hearts, you get disappointed by people and even yourself. but hey, suicide is never an option. the same people that have made you kill yourself would still be the ones to come ere and blast you. make peace with God (most importantly) and yourself. then a few good people that believe in you. that's all you need.
    would share my story soon.xoxo.

  115. I was told by a naval officer that immediate action was taken to save the guy but it was too late. His body has been recovered. Frustration and depression. Life has been so cruel to me I've thought of suicide so many times but the only restraining factor has been that I am afraid I'll go to hell if I did kill myself and my brothers will feel sad over my action as I'm an only daughter. Life has been tough! But I try to keep my hope alive through God's word and voicing my frustrations to my brother and my best friend B. If you feel suicidal, lonely, depressed...please, talk to someone you can trust - it helps.

  123. A lot of people are going through mental illness, and they suffer in silence because no one will understand them. You can’t understand why some people commit suicide unless you experience it (mental illness) or find yourself in a dark hole of depression. We need to break the stigma on mental illness.
May God have mercy on his soul.
