Photos: Gas Explosion rocks Akure, Ondo state

A gas explosion rocked Arakele road in Akure, Ondo state this evening Dec. 13th, killing several people. According to eyewitnesses, the explosion happened at a gas station in the area and the fire from the explosion spread to residential houses within the area. Men of the fire service just arrived the scene. Details later

  57. I was deir wen everytin happened. I wanted to cover n record everytin but my phone was off. Only one small baby died in it. Properties were burnt n some houses too. Fire brigade refuse to show up for more dan 3hrs dat everytin happened but pple in d street try deir best so that it will nt catch 3story building(God's will instrument palace) at d back of d filling station. Some pple said they call fire fighter but they answered dat dere's no fuel n water on ground while some pple said they ar on strike. Abt 2000guys protest to governor house to lay complain. But tnk God it didn't take many life. But a lot of properties n abt 6 houses n shop wit 1 Sienna car was burnt. The car was owned by d owner of d gas station. I rest my case.

  58. I live in Akure,nd that road is always a busy road,cos of that the Governor demolished some houses and dualised the road ,and now its filling station palava,I think they should not allow filling stations to be built in between houses again,it is very common here in Akure
