Military arraigns five Lance Corporals over mutiny

Five Lance Corporals of the Nigerian army were yesterday October 21st arraigned before a military court at the Army Headquarters Garrison, Mogadishu cantonment in Abuja over a two count charge of conspiracy to commit mutiny and mutiny.

Daily Trust reports that the soldiers are alleged to have committed the offenses in October 2013 after shooting into the air when they received the news of the death of some of their colleagues who were killed by Boko Haram in the North Eastern part of Nigeria.

When the two count charge was read to the soldiers, they all pleaded not guilty. The soldiers are part of 59 soldiers of the 7th Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, Borno state, who are standing trial for various offenses ranging from insubordination, mutiny and others.

  1. Our military and mutiny, not a good news at any time, but especially at this time.

You may not blame them much, no one wants to die

  14. Senior Army Officers are quietly getting rid of the junior ones. Sending them to war front with substandard weapons while the Boko Haram are killing like chicken. Those of that that talk they were giving death sentence. What do you expect?

  19. I pity these fellas. the Commander in Cheif should pls (codedly) interfere in this matter otherwise they are as good as dead. I appeared in a GCM like this for an army officer from d same 7 Div & I was shocked that d Army laws for simple offences are very harsh talk less of Mutiny.
