Air Force jet used in bombing operations against Boko Haram goes missing

A Nigerian air force Alpha Jet used in the fight against Boko Haram members has gone missing. The military plane reportedly disappeared from radar around Adamawa state after it went for a routine operation attack on Boko Haram men on Friday September 12th.

Two fighter pilots who were operating the jet have also been declared missing. The Defence has released a statement on the missing jet. Find it after the cut...

The Defence statement posted on their website below...
An Alpha Jet (NAF 466) belonging to the Nigerian Air Force is missing around Adamawa State. The aircraft, with two pilots onboard, left Yola at about 10:45am on 12 September 2014 on a routine operational mission and was expected back by 12:00 noon. Since then all efforts to establish contact with the aircraft have not yielded any positive result. Meanwhile, search and rescue effort is ongoing to establish contact with the crew.

Our military has far more potential than the bs we are seeing these days but the president & the government is so weak & clueless that they can't inspire moral or command respect and action in our military. 19. i wonder why its taking us so long to understand Jonathan has a hand in this and top Government officials too. why Would a jet just go off radar withing a state almost been controlled by the sect. I am a Muslim and not planning on changing my religion. but lately i am ashamed to call myself a Muslim in the public, Isis making things worse too. its time people start understanding this is not religious but political. 70% of people killed by BH are Muslims so this isn't religious. its high time we started doing something than Waiting for a dull headed man in black hat to do Nothing. it kills so much how people take life for granted dis days.

  30. It's always sad to read a lot of dim witted comments over serious issues. I know the two pilots involved and these are two of the best fighter pilots this country has, and believe me we don't have a lot. These guys put their lives on the line on a daily basis to protect the rest of us so we can sleep peacefully at night and a lot of times they pay the ultimate price to protect the liberty most of us obviously take for granted. They also have families and loved ones. I think its more productive to take time out and pray for these extremely brave guys and their families

  31. How won't it go missing, when the greedy general's are using boko haram funds to send their wives, families and mistresses on shopping sprees abroad.I ve first hand information. It's just disgusting. My heart goes out to the pilots families.

  33. I hope the plane pictured above is not the same as the one missing. Else it'd be a wonder BH hasn't cleared out our military forces in the North East. This is beyond archaic, it's ancient. #InferiorOrdinance

  51. This is what i believe happened. the leader of the Boko Haram, stole the Nigerian Airforce plane and quickly took it to SCOAN and there used it to hover around the building for over 45 mins and then used it to implode the building. to back up this, we know the plane got missing between thurs & fri and then, an aircraft was seen in the late mornings of friday hovering the building at SCOAN and now over 40 dead.
