Photos: Truck that crushed a lady to death this morning has been set on fire

The truck that crushed a woman to death this morning in Lekki, Lagos (read here), has been set on fire by an angry mob. Other trucks in the area were also damaged. The lady's husband (you will find him after the cut) is now at the scene. Police and Local Government officials are also now on ground. See more pics after the cut...

  5. Nigerians sha,we live in an organic society where actions are always spontaneous, people act before that think. Burning the truck will jeopardize investigations into the issue.
May her soul rest in peace.

  25. Lagosians can be so dumb and lame!!!!! What if in the process of trying to burn the truck and a firee outbreak was ignited, what wud dey do??? Am so sorry for the womans husband, such a painful loss...... Lagos state govt needs revenues, why can't dy setup driving speed limits for road users.....99percent offenders wud be caught in a day, more money to them it would be............. Heavy duty trucks and motorcycles are the number 1 problem in Nigeria road system#cheEzyjayne

  30. Welcome to Nigeria Where the upperclass is always guilty in a case against the lower class.
My father taught me in Time to know that you are bad driver if your truck is hit by a car and the other dies or in bad state, you are a bad driver if your bicycle hits a pedestrian...
It doesn't matter who is at fault, the person with a better vehicle is declared guilty.
Sentiment should not come into play... the lady at her age should know how to cross road.
Look left, look right, look left again then cross if in all checks d road is free.
Suppose she was answering a call?
The mob should be rounded up and made to buy a new vehicle for the man,. They have no constitutional right and such jungle justice must stop... Ujahmycine speaks 7904B64

  35. May her soul RIP but was it the trucks fault? It would be if he careered off the road and hit her, but if she was crossing the road carelessly an expressway then she is to blame.i see the way people cross the lekki epe expressway throwing caution to the wind. Please be very careful when crossing and make sure the coast is clear before crossing.Be safe.

  62. Jungle mentality in naija....whose fault was the accident? Some pedestrians just don't know how to cross the road....even if it was the drivers fault how does burning the truck solve anything? Must the owner of the truck pay for the sins of the driver?
Anyway RIP to the dead....in developed countries incidents like this influence policies and changes to existing laws....wish that would happen here....
