35 policemen missing after Boko Haram attack on Police academy

35 policemen have been confirmed missing after members of Boko Haram launched an attack on the Nigeria Police Mobile Force Academy located in Gwoza, Borno state on Wednesday August 20th. 
 
According to a statement by the acting Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police force, DCP Emmanuel Ojukwu, the police officers who ran during the attack have been found but as of yesterday August 23rd, 35 policemen are still missing.

Following the attack launched by insurgents on the Gwoza Training camp of the Nigeria Police Mobile Force (PMF), the Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Suleim...an Abba, NPM, NPOM, mni since ordered the tightening of security around all police facilities in the country in addition to efforts made to further protect the lives of all people in Nigeria and their properties.
It will be recalled that a ferocious attack earlier launched on the Training camp by insurgents on 7th August, 2014 was repelled by the Police. On 20th August, 2014, the attackers launched a fresh offensive that lasted for several hours where the Policemen on duty engaged them in a fierce battle.
The search and rescue party launched immediately has located and brought to safety all Police officers in the Training College at the time of attack. So far, thirty-five policemen who are still missing from the facility as a result of the latest attack are being searched for with very promising prospect of locating them.
While enjoining all citizens to remain calm and join hands with the security forces in the collective fight against insurgency, the IGP restates his determination to work closely with other security agencies to stem the tide of terrorism in the country.

  3. If the police officers are afraid of Boko Haram, and mobile police officers for that matter, then they dare not stand on our roads demanding for money for doing nothing. Shame on them.... Prove your wages worth, Nigerian cops!

  18. Useless police officers with pot bellies mounting road blocks,conniving with DPO to detain law abiding citizens for expired drivers licence even when receipt of renewal is shown to them. This has become regular for members of New Benin Police men in Benin City. They need to be sent to the North to ask the Boko guys for their drivers Licence. The new IG needs to do something about these police men in the south who are corrupt. Emeka in Benin.
