Wazobia FM OAP Akas Baba shot and kidnapped in Port Harcourt

Popular Wazobia FM Port Harcourt On-Air-Personality, Anthony Akatakpo, popularly known as Akas Baba was shot in the leg and kidnapped from his home in Rumuekini this morning around 2 by unknown gunmen.

Singer Djinee, who is a friend and currently resides in Port Harcourt, confirmed the news and said the gunmen took him away in a Mistsubishi Endeavor SUV after shooting him in the leg. One of his colleagues told me that Akas Baba's wife, Candy Akatakpo has already been contacted by the kidnappers, asking for N10million for his release...but I can't confirm that.

    Why would anyone do that?
    They've not finished kidnapping those who they percieve are looting money one way or another, its Akas who is not only a freeman but a man of the commonest of people- all people relate with and to him- from taxi drivers to market women to students to the working class- to the gateman- everyone who listens to the radio can relate to him- why would they kidnap him?
    Its like someone kidnapping Tuface or Julius Agwu or Basketmouth- Tuface esp.- theses people have paid their dues and, they aren't pro-chop money citizens, they are more anti-looting and more pro- hustling-to-make-it.
    This is so wrong, those kidnappers are hungry idiots. I used to think there was some kind of silent rule to this kidnapping menace- like the mafia or something- now I see they are just merely brainless savages without brains- oh, I already called them brainless I see.
    And they even shot him....... #oh no!

    how sad. please do not get the police involved. the police and kidnapper work hand in hand. my friend was kidnapped in that same region last year and still hasnt been found. police knew everything and hvent done anything.

    family should do all they can, pay them and leave the police out of it.
