Dude Tetsola denies being married, claims he represented his brother

LOL, this is one of the weirdest things I've heard in a long time. So hip hop artiste Dude Tetsola is denying being married weeks after it was reported that he married his longtime Dublin-based fiancee Stephanie Ogbeiwi. Their traditional wedding took place on November 9th in Benin while their court wedding took place at the Federal Marriage Registry, Ikoyi, Lagos on the 30th of November.

Two months later, Dude is denying being married. According to what he told Punch, the marriage was by proxy as he only represented his brother who couldn’t attend his wedding.
“I stood in for my elder brother. He couldn’t get his visa. They saw the pictures and people started saying I got married. Please, it is not me. I am not yet married. My girlfriend left me. She still doesn’t believe the story that I am not married even after my mother called her to explain to her. I have even talked to her elder brother who said I should let her be. I don’t know why people would not verify a story before they write about it. If I want to marry, I will invite people and let them know about it. It will not be a hidden thing.” he told Saturday Punch
You stood in for your brother and the bride is sitting on your laps and y'all are looking at each other with love? And is it even allowed, to stand in for someone at the registry? Never heard of it. Who believes him? He's trying to promote a new single, so maybe...anyhoo, continue to see wedding pics

Dudu Tetsola and Stephine Ogbeiwi dated for four years before tying the knot...don't know why he's denying her now. If he really said this to Punch, then it's strange...

  18. Hello Linda, Well I believe Dude, because I have witnessed a wedding here in Lagos Nigeria, where the groom and the Bride could not make it to their own wedding and the sister of the bride and the brother of the groom acted as the couples... So he might be saying the truth.... I am dropping my comment because I have witnessed such happened , if you have not....... Dude, I pray your girl friend see reasons and understand, wish you luck in getting her back (Love is a Beautiful Thing)

    1. That makes sense but not this one pls. If he was to stand for his bro, why didn't his gf be a part if it? She would av found out like she did anyway, bcos it was not a secret wedding. In a case where one of the couple is absent they usually use a pic to substitute. Dude has been guilty since he chose to hide it from his gf. Abi if the so called brother was around, wouldn't his brother's gf attend the wedding with him? And why is their mom not speaking? And where is the supposed bro? Would he keep mum knowing his brother's integrity is at stake hence jeopardising his relationship? Where are the Key witnesses? Rubbish matter

  19. Can't believe dis story. Can't d wedding be postponed and he even signed in registry. Is his brother in prison and won't come out again. These doesn't make sense

  31. I have seen it happen in many parts of Igbo Land. The former way of conducting such marriages was to use the picture of the groom. But some people now use a stand in so that, the wedding does not look solemn.A cousin of mine that is based abroad had his younger brother stand in for him.The father even encouraged the younger to act like the real groom,so that the wedding wouldn't look like a forced marriage.

But representing someone in the court of law and posing for the camera is what I find strange. He doesn't sound convincing at all. If his story were to be true, his girl friend wouldn't have left him.

  54. Linda, even if he's representing his brother, it is an abomination in Edo traditional for his bro's wife to sit on his laps when he's bn represented, instead 'she' sit on her mum-inlaw to-be laps on the trad-wedding, bcos there is a tradition where d bride'father place her daughter on the groom's laps 7times the during final blessings. i doubt Tetsola story.
