This is typical of Nigeria: u get convicted before proper investigation. They said the woman was hawking, but anyone looking at her goods can see she is not a hawker. Have you ever seen a hawker with so many goods, she looks likes some1 that went to market and is waiting for transport. Meanwhile if you look at the video, there are many hawkers in the crowd. In Nigeria u get judged first, before questions are asked.I can remember going to the Old MMA to drop some1 off and after roaming the carpark for 10mins b4 finding parking space, only for my car to be towed that i entered the carpark through the exit and didnt pay, showed the guy my ticket and he said that it was an old one i had. Me i just went to look for d dudes superior by the gate, when i told his oga that i saw him chatting up one hot chick as i was driving into the carpark the guy knew without looking at my ticket that i had truly entered from the gate. I do not support the comment but I support the action he took. It is better to preserve the life of many more that could have been killed by her selling on the road side than preserve her goods. Adams is only trying to drive development. The problem of Nigeria is not obeying the rule of law. We need to start obeying the law and if we do that, i gurantee you naija will be a different country in a couple of years. there is no room for sentiment when it comes to the rule of law. in developed countries, if you disobey the law, there are severe consequences.

ignorance is not an excuse in law. Countless of times
the state government has gone on air to say "No to
street trading" but these people want to test the anger
of the governor and also to discredit his efforts. I don't
think she is the only widow in town as there are
thousands of widows in Edo state in general, even the
mother of the governor is a widow too, has she been
trading on the walkways before her son became
governor?. I can recall the other time the governor gave
some helping hand to a widow and her 2 children, and
has done more for other widows too. Women like this
usually use the term "I am a poor widow" even when
their husband is back there at home just to draw
sympathy from the public while doing the wrong thing.
The said woman was trading on the walkway. Should
we be using our walkways for trading? Will she do that
in the civilized world? If all widows are allowed to trade
on walkways what would our cities look like? Millions
are spent creating these facilities and other road
networks and what these people know how to do best
is to spoil the efforts of the governor and to give him a
bad name. Little wonder past governors chose not to
develope the state. Even as I am very much against the
governor using such words on the woman, I think the
governor has been pushed to the wall by the actions of
these women who enjoy breaking the law because they
want to make quick sells. The best thing she would
have done was to pack her things and run when she
saw the governor and his team coming but she stayed

Having said that, the lady CHOOSE to break the law and when you break the law, there are repercussions. Dear LIB readers, the truth is that the woman is not a street trader, her goods were dropped from the vehicle on that place, and there is no way wheel-barrow can carry those goods from there due to the terrain.
She had to physically carry them over the pavement (the road is under reconstruction, mission road in Benin City) to the other side of the road before a wheel barrow can help her out.
If you listen very well to the video, you will hear her telling the Come-Raid Governor that a vehicle just dropped her there.
Oshom-Ole is apc and apc is Oshom-ole. When those of us from Edo state on this forum inform you that Oshomhole is not what propaganda has made you all to believe, you people thought that we are blind, bigoted and play politics with everything like the e-rats we have here.

Oshiomole does not understand the basic elements of governance. He has forgotten that the reason that women trade on the road sides in Benin is because they have no alternative. Yet, trading is the only means of livelihood for the nearly 60% poor residents in the city. A governor who cares for his people, would have first found a way to relocate the traders to more decent markets before seeking to expel them from the roads. As it is, as long as he fails to build modern markets in and around Benin City, so long will the women remain on the roadsides. he can do nothing about it. Even if they run away temporarily, they will return to the road in the future. And when a more humane governor comes in place, they will stay on the road permanently unless the governor finds a permanent solution by building modern markets. People now refer to Oshiomole as the "Road Governor", because that is only thing he talks about. Meanwhile, he has only been able to repair 10% of the roads that are totally bad in the state. the good people of Edo State are now looking for and praying to God to give them another Governor that will do the rest of governance in the belingered Edo state. Those of you who still think Oshiomole is performing in edo state must have a re-think.
