Popular lawyer &politician, Tony Ehilebo, assaulted in Abuja niteclub

Young Abuja lawyer and politician, Barr. Tony Ehilebo, was allegedly assaulted by a bouncer at Klub Vaniti House Cubana on Friday August 9th. According to eye witnesses, Tony wanted to enter the VVIP part of the club called the Gold Room but was stopped by the bouncer stationed outside the room. An arguement ensued between the men and the young lawyer was allegedly beat up.

His law firm is now instituting a N250 million Damages Suit for Assault to person and Brand Damage against the bouncer, Promise, who is already wanted for questioning by the police.  Uyi and Lanre, managers at Klub Vaniti are also joined in the suit.

Barr. Ehilebo is the National Programmes Cordinator for the PDP Youth Circuit and the Buckingham University UK Nigeria Alumni Coordinator.

In most, if not all situations, people who try to instigate trouble are taken outside the club ASAP so other people aren't hurt in the process. House of Cubana might as well him too for intent in causing harm to customers and damage of property. No be who first carry case go court dey win.

  95. Good! Serves them right. The bouncers in that place are too damn rude.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I don't understand why we Nigerians like humiliating others when we are opportuned to be in a small position.
First of all, why should a bouncer beat up a customer?
Some years ago, people had to pay to enter a club and a higher fee to get into the VIP section.
However it's a different case now. If you are not a well known prostitute (ashewo) in a club, or a pimp, or a lousy champagne popper, bouncers don't respect people anymore.
I go to a club and I see bouncers allowing a low level prostitute or pimp to enter the vip section, while a new customer who is ready to spend a lot will be bounced. Why? because his face is new and he is not a lousy popper. The bouncers now allow only 'their people' into the vip section.

Please Club Owners learn from this.
Bouncers have now turned themselves into club owners themselves. It shouldn't be so.
I am lucky to be well known in the clubs i visit, but i dislike it when I see bouncers treat classy people anyhow, just because they are new to the club. IT IS VERY WRONG. Everyone is entitled to the VIP section, as long as you look responsible enough to spend well.
If it can't be so, then let the VIP section be paid for, while the regular seciton be left free for all. That might help.

If you are a regular club go-er, you won't be making stupid comments here and accussing the lawyer. The bouncer was obviously WRONG. Shikena!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Tony again!!! Na wa o... LOL, na only u dey abj, wey you go dey fight for all the clubs, why na Vaniti you come decide to sue, the last one wey happen, why you no sue them? If I were this guy I go bury my head in shame and stop drinking, lawyer wey dey fight for every club wey e go, na another kind lawyer, him mate dey fight case for court, him dey go clubs dey throw blow, y him no just enter boxing profession so we all go no d real job wey him dey do!! 98. BigSpender on a Low12 August 2013 at 02:20

These bouncers can be very annoying, trust me!
I totally agree that the bouncer was wrong.
I consider myself a VIP in a club because if I'm going clubbing, I always go with a reasonable amount of money and with the intention of spending well and getting myself responsibly drunk.
I'm a big spender but I like doing things on the low.

But on many occasions, I go to a club and try to enter the VIP section, but because I am not one of those jobless guys that go to the the club mon - sun, the bouncers tell me to turn back to regular.
Whereas, my friends wey I even dey sponsor come club wey na me wan spend ontop their head, the bouncers go rush them enter VIP dey even smile with them. Na my friends go don dey beg for me to enter the VIP..lol
Of which my those my padis fit nor get pass 1,000naira for pocket. While me wey wan spend, then go bounce me. Ha ba. Must I be a popular face or a lousy spender before I can go vip? Abeg bouncers make una give una selfs brain cuz people don dey complain wella.
Una don too dey embarass big people, but una go dey allow those wey nor get anytin dey enter d vip.
Even ashewo go enter vip, whereas u wey get bar nor go enter.

Abeg Linda, try to make this a topic - that club owners should do something about their bouncers and VIP thingy. E don too dey cause embarassment, A tell you! And it's getting worse daily.
Bouncers now feel like small gods.
If you wan try, go to Aura or Sip or Liquid or G's place or rumors or uno.
Na only ashewo or yahoo boy now fit enter VIp

  100. This guy is a learner. I never had problems with this club.
You got to roll the right way though. They first check out your car and swag b4 access is granted.

First, I roll straight to the gate. They look at the car and decide if to let you in or have you park on the street. LOL.

They clear space for me. I park. My woman comes out and close door. I sort out the bouncers and we are treated like a king and a Queen.

But gaddemnit...N15,000 for a drink I can get for N3000 in any bar in FCT. Not worth it.

  101. From the comments on here it is clear that this Club Vanity has no decency and will go all out to rubbish the reputation of a paying customer, I know Tony(aka Tmoni) very well and from what I gather it was more a case of him looking so casual that bouncer assumed "yeah I can fxxk with this one".. How do explain assaulting someone who spends money in ur Joint and then make matters worse sponsor online touts to deride his person online.. I pity those who will continue to patronise such an establishment..You might just be next..why has places like PLay, Tuccano et al not had issues like this on the press? Bad management I tell you..very bad management.

  103. Yes Bouncers are paid to keep people out, but it's a night club. People go to drink and have a swell time. They also have to realize that though they may have a Job to do, they have to do it with caution no matter how unruly the client has behaved. Sometimes these Bouncers over do it. Tony that night was a client, he may have said something but I doubt he would have touched the bouncer. The guy had no right to beat him up. Unfortunately As lawyers like trouble and to set precedence it has come to this. We should learn to avoid wahala while having a good time and establishment owners need to learn to put their bouncers in check. I once witnessed a bouncer beat up a teenager who dared come in with alcohol, story ended with the boys friends coming with guns and shooting in the air. The bouncer had to be hidden, like it or not This is Abuja, you could be barking up the wrong tree. Hope Tony and Vaniti come to an amicable agreement.

  113. Quite disappointing. For the records Tony is not the leader of the PDPYC. He must have been impersonating. He is a "member" with youthful exuberance and an unrefined potential. The PDPYC strives to bring youths together and see how to harness the power of shared vision and impact change.

  114. Its a shame and absolutely dissapointing to know that a man of dt level would want to generate money from a club..that's to show how useless he is...charge and bail lawyer...peeps lyk roofdiamond should learn to get facts b4 dey send comments as u were not there...we were der live...wen d fool of a lawyer was restricted from entring d GOLD ROOM due to his drunk state and d idiot because of who he finks e might be was pushin d bouncer who was warning him to stop just as 1 or 2 person got involved tryin to calme the fool of a lawyer he threw a punch @ the bouncer...let me tell u somfin even d cleaners in a club are not slaves to anyone..people should respect demselves in public places..the only fin d bouncer did was to guard him off the gold room cus too many people got involved and d bastard was tryna use that means by entring d goldroom which as @ the tym was havin major clientele...dt drunkard sed he must b der with them cus his a lawyer...dirty looking not even well or appropriately dressed to back his standard.

  115. I'm a card carrying member of the PDP. I can attest to the fact that PDP youths will never be involved in a case like this and propagate it. We the youths of PDP try to bring all Nigerian youths together to achieve one goal; making Nigeria a better place. We don't go around fighting in clubs and claiming damages of frivolous stories. We respect and encourage the hustle of our youths. We will continue to support our self employed youths in every way. I'm not in support of your actions Bar. Anthony Ehilebo. You don't make the rules in another man's establishment. Don't go there if you are not comfortable with their rules. Tunde Afolayan.

  116. I'm a popular figure in Abuja. I can categorically say that I know 80% of Abuja club goers.
Firstly, there's this unnecessary hatred for Club Vanity by other club owners and managers. Envy.
Secondly, the Managers of Club Vaniti are known for taking over dead clubs and reviving it. This I adore so much because these young lads provided jobs for themselves.
Thirdly, Tony aka Tmoney is a respectful, young lawyer I know really well. I just have one issue with him, his misbehaviour once inebriated.
Finally, I'll advice all parties to Bury their hatchets and resolve this issue amicably.

  117. Klub Vaniti is in trouble. They don't even know what they have gotten themselves into. Tony Ehilebo was a very strong Cultist when we were in school. Dreaded by all. They should go and beg him o

    ReplyDelete
  118. Tony is an unpopular lawyer in Abuja. He's Vicano's PA and pimp. He's just jealous because the dirty lounge he just opened went dead on arrival. He is a tout.

    ReplyDelete
  119. Tony is a big fool. You are a disgrace to Clan Cafe. Big fool with pregnant young girls all around Abuja. Get a life.

    ReplyDelete
  120. You schooled in Buckingham and you go to clubs fighting? Haba Bro. Pls try and calm down. You dont need this. You again?

    ReplyDelete
  121. TMoney you again? By the time all Abuja clubs restrict your access, you'll be restricted to that your paraga joint in Utako.

    ReplyDelete
  122. This us so unfair. The Tony Ehilebo I know will not force himself into a VVIP of a club. For what? Nah, that's not Tony. The Tony Ehilebo I know doesn't even drink Champagne, he drinks only Alomo Bitters. The bouncer must be wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Uncle Tony, pls once you collect the 250m, pls pay me my small 15,000. M

    ReplyDelete
  124. You'll go round fooling yourself in Abuja clubs, get drunk and start looking for Ashewo with your small prick and your dead car. Take your time o.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Best club managers in Abuja my ass! And they could not manage a small crises like this and allowed it to degenerate. Shame, shame shame! The only person I pity in this whole issue is Obi the owner of Cubana. Lanre and Uyi should go and nip this crises in the bud instead of making matters worse by posting and sponsoring comments here. If Lanre and Uyi were owners of Cubana, they would have handled this issue more maturely.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Pls let's be very realistic abt d situation, there's so much a human can take, not to talk of a bouncer dat everyday is looked down on, on is job, d bouncer also has a voice let's not look down on him cos he is a bouncer, from wht I heard d lawyer hit him first and d bouncer tried to carry him out of d club and he was hitting d bouncer still then they both fell to d ground and a manager intervened,so are we saying d bouncer doesn't have a right to sue d lawyer for hitting him? Been a lawyer doesn't make u beta than everyone else, respect they say is reciprocal, no bouncer is an animal, they can't just starting hitting u just like dat,the lawyer and d bouncer are both wrong, but d lawyer has no right in bringing down d reputation of d club, just my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Why have we all left d issue and focusing more on personal hatred, send ur honest opinion, u don't have to insult d managers, d lwayer or d bouncer to pass our comments, let's be matured pls no beefs. U cannot just judge based on wht u read cos u weren't there to see, hear say or read say may not always be right.

    ReplyDelete
  128. This looks like a cheap publicity stunt to me.... lawyer is now tweeting that should he let his trangressors go even when they are unrepentant... how can you sue and now u want to let transgressors go? were you sleeping when you sued or wanted to sue? Make up your damn mind Mr Barrister.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Messy situation. Not good publicity for any of the parties involved. They should settle this thing fast.

  130. I have read carefully through every comment on this post and I can tell you, the majority knows that young man "tony" was wrong, he should be the one laying an apology, not creating a scene... As a Diplomat here in Nigeria, Vaniti has always been my hang out spot, even when my family was around they enjoyed well prepared meal from their restaurant.. And I remember my wife particularly impressed when we clubbed together that Friday night, either you were white or black, the respect was mutual, from the waiters to the bouncers their level of maturity and sincerity was simply amazing. I remember meeting Uyi in person, he is a fine gentleman and has been for almost a year I have known him... Men like them should be encouraged! There is no case here, the only one I see is if the club decides to sue Mr. Tony for defarmation then he would be liable because he has put the issue in the court of public opinion.. In my opinion he should lay an apology to the management of Cubana before he gets out of hand...

  131. Hahahaha tony u again

    ReplyDelete
  132. Hahahahahahaha Tony is a politician ke? Are u 4 real Linda? Fake ass Abuja boi were Neva chop belleful. He should go and sit some place ojare n look 4 sum other place to make money. Tony is just a hungry lawyer nothing 4 him

    ReplyDelete
  133. Abeg let's stop putting sentiments in our issues. Even if the lawyer had slapped d bouncer he is not suppose 2 raise a finger. He is a COSTUMER even if its a bottle of fanta he went der 2 buy. Then d bouncer can be justified n d club can even sue d lawyer 4 assault. Nigerians let's be civilised.
So if ordinary me have my money now na kill d bouncer go kill my enemy o.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Well, my take on this is that the Tony I know is a well behaved gentleman who has committed much of his life fighting for equal right and representation for Nigerian Youths especially youths in the PDP in terms of increased political participation.

Many of us will not deny the active role he has been playing in this country especially Youth and social issues.

It is quit a shame that this is happening to him and also in a place like Cubanna where they have penchant for harassing and insulting club goers.

It appears that the bouncers at cubanna have used this occasion to drag you out in the public domain Mr. Tony but I think also that this entire scenario have in exposing to you the many admirers as well as envious eyes of haters all over the place.

I believe that the management of Cubanna will follow the part of honour and call on Mr. Tony and issue a public apology as every wise business man should do instead of hiring touts to come in here and use this medium to insult and attempt to belittle Mr. Tony's credibility and integrity.

    I rest my case.

  136. It's sad to see the management of club vanity under the leadership of Uyi & Lanre use their PR machinery to cast aspersions on the character and integrity of a client allegedly assaulted by their employee.

For those that refer to T-Moni as broke, where do think the 'Money' in T-Moni originated from? Since when has it become a 'sin' to socialize at public places while enjoying drinks? Why would the management not restrain their employee and pacify a clearly offended patron if they are really the best at club management?

Obi, the owner of club vanity would never had sanctioned such barbarism. Uyi and Lanre need to grow up. Instead of towing this repugnant attitude of attrition, they should try to make peace with Mr Ehilebo.

  137. Uyi and Lanre are a shame to responsible night club operators! How many other operators have we heard of getting into such dirty and shameful practices? Abeg pay the 250mil at once! Rubbish!!!!

  139. Toni is a broke ass wannabe, he was an errand boy in Bucks and is doing the same thing here for the same person he was running errands for before. when someone comes accross as a nuisance they are to be dealt with. if he had any sense he would have met with the owners in private.
@anonymous 7.57 august 12th, its obvious that tony sent you to write on his behalf. in fact i lie, he's writing it himself. loser ode oshi. 250m my ass. they should have dealt with him a long time ago!

  140. Having read all the comments here a few things are clear to me, The young man is a very popular person, He or whoever put up this story is very aggrieved, Most comments on this blog are sponsored by the managers of Vanity (UYI and Lanre) who should please consider Obi the owner before their over bloated ego's..This issue could have been handled very simply by providing the said bouncer when the police was invited, and even when the story broke simply done what would have seen as honorable issue a public apology to the effect and assure the rest of us that Vanity is not in the habit of condoning assaults on its customers..what have they done? add fuel by sponsoring false stories against him on this commentaries..hey guys the message you are sending out is that next time it could happen to you our other customers and this is how we will treat you. Anthony has built his reputation in Abuja as a brand builder, lawyer, politician and social entrepreneur and i am sure he is open to dialogue! Stop the assault on him immidiately and do the right thing. SEEK TO MAKE AMMENDS!!!
