OJB responds to Juliet Ibrahim's query on raising $100k for kidney transplant

Last week, Ghanaian actress Juliet Ibrahim posted a message on her instagram page saying kidney transplant does not cost more than $50k and wondered why people raising funds for OJB were requesting for $100, 000. Well, OJB has responded to that.

The ailing music producer and singer told Encomium mag...
"The mistake she's making is that it depends on the hospital you are going to in India. She says she runs a foundation, they might give her a rebate. The procedure itself is $55, 000. When you take out $55, 000, you are left with $45, 000. What about the running cost of the procedure? You don't go to India only to come back and start asking for help again. At least, I need some money to maintain myself for the next one year. So when you factor in all these costs, add air tickets and lodging, you will appreciate what we are talking about.

    You should have kept quite and allow that to die a natural death. Even though what you said is the truth, a lot of people may not take kindly to , "at least I need some money to maintain myself for a year".     The procedure is not 55k it's between 15 and 20k depending on the hospital. I am about to India for a Kdney transplant so Juliet is right. 50k is more than enough for the surgery, follow up and everything else for one year. These are prices I was quoted from Artemis, fortis and appollo hospitals in India and these are the best hospitals there. I wish Ojb all the best!

    We need to create more awareness about kidney disease, it's nothing about drinking or smoking as I never did. Eating lots of animal protein is enough to do it. Prevention is better than cure, let's reduce the amount of animal protein we have to say how it was back in the days growing up when we only had meat as garnishing in food and not a meal in itself.. I have learned the hard way.

    I wish OJB a quick recovery. It is however right to say that Juliet was right. This explanation should have been stated ab initio. Never was it said that $100,000 quoted also included money for after surgery. It is very wrong to mislead the public in things like this. Every details should have been stated and not just to quote figures. His handlers got it all wrong. I believe lessons should be learnt to forestall future occurance.

    I don't want to believe that OJB Jezreel would issue such a lame response. His PR people could have simply provided a breakdown of the total costs rather than the flimsy and almost arrogant "At least I need some money to maintain myself for 1 Year". Na we born you?     While dat actress was right abt the $50k stuff she failed to factor in several othr stuff and she shldnt even b running her mouth in the first place, cos she doesn't even knw if he has to pay 4 a kidney or has a donor ready, I had a friend who went to india 4 kidney transplant, there are several test u hv to do in nigeria running into millions b4 u leave, u come bck wit a huge suit case of drugs, and fly bck six months later 4 check up, but in the main time u'll spend minimum of 25k on test everyweek for 6months, so really juliet shld keep her mouth shut cos he sure can't come out to beg any1 again!
