Explosion under the Festac Link Bridge kills one

There was an explosion this morning under the Festac Link Bridge that killed a middle aged businessman, Oladele Pius. He was unfortunately passing under the bridge at the exact moment the explosion occurred. His body parts flew in different directions and police had to use shovel to scoop pieces of his body parts scattered around the scene into a bag. Sad! Mr Pius was the head of the sand dredgers association in the area.

The police said it wasn't a bomb as earlier speculated, that what the bomb disposal unit found at the scene was battery put in a torchlight. They promised to investigate what really happened and find the people behind it. There are those who believe that Oladele Pius was targeted. The man you see above was injured by the explosion. See the man who died in the explosion after the cut *viewers discretion advised*

    1. Lol. U go fear naija bomb squad na. Bomb squad my ass wey no fit investigate the actual cause of the bombing.

    2. Hey my people, don't blame the bomb squad. What they've said is what was seen at the location. They're not properly trained. So what do you expect? All the supposedly training funds are seating in politicians accounts in Ghana, South Africa, europe and America. So don't expect much crime scene analysis.

  13. Seriously. The mystery of this incident will be the hardest inquisition for the Nigerian police. I tire for Naija. If government is not using state money for ridiculous (First Lady) thanksgiving celebrations, then it's no electricity, acid attack, bombings, kidnappings, accidents, irrelevant celebrity news....I quit.

  14. Please what is the make of the battery? That might be the easiest answer to get out of this unfortunate incident.

  15. Not backing up whatever the bomb squad said but are you aware that salt water(which can be found under a bridge) can cause a cell(battery) to explode under excessive pressure from say the space provided for batteries? Considering all these recent rechargeable torchlights, a small or medium scale explosion isn't far fetched in such areas..just putting in my 2 cents

  16. It's possible the man had been targeted. May his soul RIP. Police over to you.

This is the most amazing thing I have heard this year.
This is just too much to absorb.

  18. Pls ds police people had better start saying the truth, cos I don't see how battery put in a torchlight can cause an explosion let alone something of dis magnitude, God help us in ds country sha! RIP Mr Pius.

  21. if police had found battery at the sight of the explosion, so be it. We should sometimes trust our police. Salt water and battery can result into explosion. Linda, I think you should come out with packages that educate people aside from all these celebrity photos and news. People (kids) nowadays are dull.

  34. Lagosians, to get to the bottom of this, the first step will be to find out who Mr. Pius has pissed off. Check list of his girlfriends, who among them is dating a Lagos big boy. I am sure we'll find some answers that will lead us in the right direction. GOVERNOR FASHOLA PLS LOOK INTO THIS. ...

  39. @Lindaikeji,now the police statement "The police said it wasn't a bomb as earlier speculated" Then what are they still waiting for? We Nigerians need to know what when wrong and the caused of the bumb explosion that kill Mr Pius. I know this will take them another decade to get us the report. What a country. So sad to hear this in lagos but urgent action must be the thing of the mind for Fashola and good people of Lagos.
