Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority suspends Air Nigeria’s operations

Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority yesterday Tuesday June 12th suspended the operations of Air Nigeria. Reason? The engineers and pilots of the airline company embarked on a strike some days back over poor welfare package.
The suspension of the operations of Air Nigeria is a routine action that will enable us (NCAA) to scrutinize the airline before allowing it to start operations again having being on strike for days. It is a normal exercise’.Sam Adurogboye, the NCAA’s General Manager (Public Relations), said

    1. Traveling by road is also dangerous (armed robbers, bad roads, car accidents e.t.c.) and extremely uncomfortable (sitting at the same position for hours, dirty smells from other passengers plus heat and hunger).

  10. Flying with Air-Nigeria 4 me is a definite NO'NO!, they always delay flights + d interior of some of their planes are so not fresh while on some occasions d engines r very noisy compared 2 other airlines, I start 2 wonder why do flights within nigeria cost so much compared 2 what is obtainable elseware.

  12. They have resumed their filghts, it was just an audit on their local aircraft. The audit was successful.

  13. Indeed no smoke without fire. That Nnorom fellow did know what he was saying. Before long you'll hear that their planes all need routine maintenance if not overhauling.

If NCAA would only continue this way it will be remarkable. One is not fooled to know that it is the Dana air incidence, bringing about this so called regulation strong arm. When all this cools off, will they still be as hard?

  16. This goes a long way to butteress d earlier statement of a former staff of air Nigeria, whom Jimoh Ibrahim labelled criminal for exposing d decay in dat company. U can't hide a pregnancy especially whe its triplets. A nice step in d right direction by suspending doz undertakers.~Bonario~ says so via Nokia 3310.

  17. These idiots are just playing on our intelligence.....if the staff did not go on strike would they have been suspended???

  25. Hmmm...so dis is my story so far wit sum airlines in nig.
Aero, accra-lag. My 1st year in uni n I was bin a cheap skate n bought d cheapest ticket, midday flight bcame night flight, Of which it was a propeller plane which made d scariest noise I av eva hrd n was shaking soo much! But by His grace we landed safely n since den I av never entered Aero again! Dis was in 2006
Air Nigeria(wen dey were Virgin Nig)lag-abj in 2009, flight was delayed, wen we finally boarded, we taxied n waited 4 d planes b4 us 2 leave, only 4 us 2 taxi bak 2 whr d plane was initially parked. We all kept quiet n d pilot announced d@ dey jst 1td 2 carry out sum inspection, d@'s ow diff engnrs kept trooping in n out, afta 30mins, a man got pissed n said he 1td 2 deplane cuz he had missed d meetn he 1td 2 go,d air hosts tried 2 pacify him bt he insisted n got, 10-15mins l8r more ppl got angry n 1td 2 deplane too, meanwhile, d AC was blowing hot breeze, by den a lot of ppl 1td 2 jst deplane cuz it was jst horrible! Dey refused 2 tell us y d flight was bin delayed. Afta kippn us in deir box of a plane 4 close 2 45mins or more dey announced d@ d flight was cancelled cuz d air hosts n hostesses av bin flyn all day n needed 2 rest. Kk o! I packed my kaya n lyk oda irate passengers insulted dem n headed str8 2 deir counter 4 a refund. Only God knws wat wld av happened if d@ flight had tkn off! I av not set foot on since den on air nigeria plane!
Fast4wrd Jan 2012, lag-abj, got First Nation airline ticket, dey were actually on tym n I was impressed wit deir service n d flight was a smooth 1. April,abj-lag...hmmmmmmm, d plane/engine kept makn d weirdest noise eva, lyk sumthn had broken, it did nt feel lyk I was on a plane more lyk a roller coaster ride...my sis, aunt n I clutched on 2 our seats while sayn silent prayers n tryn nt 2 luk scared. I nearly pissed n shit in my pants. Thank God 4 journey mercies as we landed safely, my sis, aunt n I were relieved n cld nt wait 2 jst leave d plane n d airpot.
I jst hope n pray d best 4 Nigeria, we nid swift n effective change if we r 2 muv 4wrd as a nation. I jst hope d@ oda airlines learn 4rn dis n tk deir maintenance of deir planes serzly. Boko Haram is causing enuff sadness alrdy, n we r tired of n av had enuff as it is alrdy. God help Nig

  29. So Dana Air fly a crappy plane, kill lots of people and we're talking about Air Nigeria. Pure politics once again takes full control. Air Nigeria is hands down a far better quality fleet of planes than any other in Naija. The staff using the current situation to stage a strike over THEIR welfare conditions is opportunistic and in very bad taste. Shame on Nigeria.

  30. To the frequent flyer @ 8:37, its not the mgmt of the airline (virgin ngr not Air Ngr; where's your Naija spirit?) that kept you on board, it was the staff. And to be fair, would you not prefer to be asked off a plane, than for the plane to take off fingers crossed?
