Edo state governor increases minimum wage of state workers from N18k to N25k

The Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has announced the increment of the National Minimum Wage for the state civil servants from N18,000 to N25, 000 with immediate effect. Oshiomhole made the announcement at the grand finale of activities to mark the 2016 Workers Day in the state. He announced that the 13 months salaries being owed workers of Egor Local Government Council will be paid within the next two weeks. Oshiomole assured the workers that irrespective of the drop in oil price, they will still be getting their salaries as at when due.

    3. His intentions aren't noble. Edo state gubernitorial election is next year. It's all politics. He suspects his part is loosing ground in Edo, now he is prospectively making thing things difficult for incoming but again the has just made a mockery of APC led federal government who has been crying fowl that there is no money in the system.

    1. You aren't wrong, ordinarily they aren't suppose to but most state do federal and local government joint account which allows state government receives local government monthly allocation. Now this is illegal because it undermines the autonomy of the local government and encourages unnecessary influence on local government chairmen by the governor. That is why most governor prefers not to do a local government election instead they appoint administrator for easy "kill and divide".

  28. When a governor wants to seem like the good guy....and plans to make his successor look wicked. What analysis has he done to prove that this is sustainable?

    ReplyDelete
  29. This is wickedness. Because your leaving office, you want to create a burden for your successor. What have you monkey put in place to generate additional 7k per worker? And people that lack concave lens are clapping already. Open your eyes so that you will not be hoodwinked double by same person.

  33. Yeah... He pays the 25k for some months and pass the wahala to the next governor. When you raise minimum wage, you have to adjust the entire salary scale.

  47. Oshimole has few months to go. Why now? Some local government are owed up to 13 months salary, how is this possible? This is all politics and I am sure Edo people understand s better. They can't be fooled !!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. "13 months unpaid salaries".....This is inhumane. The increment when his tenure is almost due , is a strategy to canvas support for his party in the next election. The next governor will be laden with this ill-timed move.
