  50. I feel there is racism attached to it. You gat three white and a black, why not 2 blacks and 2 white and the only black they had was used as an armrest. Those other 3 white were allowed to express themselves while the black is not.. Meaning white are above black which is not right.

    2. If she was the one resting her arm on another girl they'd say Are they trying to tell the world that the black race will always need the white race to support them?
    3. If she was the one doing the acrobatic stunt they'd say Why is she spreading her legs wide open for the rest of the world to come and "do". Are they trying to say black girls are prostitutes?

    6. Black people in America and Europe are so paranoid. I get why they feel that way cos they experience racism 1st hand and always but that's not the reason why every other little meaningless act by the whites should be seen as done negatively against blacks. This is becoming an inferiority complex issue. Let's slow down pls

  102. the first kid with the upside down position seem to have her head facing back 100%...the legs n buttocks are facing the camera so the head is supposed to be facing the other side ...

    ReplyDelete
  103. There's really no big deal in this, but black treatment by white overseas would make you question why one black girl out of 4 kids and she's now the armrest again? Whoever directed the advert was not brilliant with this piece (knowing fully well GAP is surrounded by both races).

    ReplyDelete
  104. I see nothing wrong biko#Lindangwanu#

    ReplyDelete
  105. Why is she an armrest though as opposed to her hand around her shoulder. If you've ever had someone lay their hand on your head in that same manner, it's not comfortable... nothing to like or appreciate about it. So, I can't help but wonder what made them decide on that pose. I would have asked the question even if the armrest was a white child but it's even more stark that the child in question is a black child. This side of the world everything is about race even when it's not.

  108. If you study the history of slavery and racism in America, you will actually see why black Americans are very hyper sensitive about stuff like this because even till date, after the civil-rights movement with ML King, there is still racism in broad daylight, black people are never given a voice and when they are, they are portrayed as all sorts of things from ratchet to ghetto, to violent (everything except actual people with dignity). We as indigenous Africans, we don't see their struggles because we haven't had to put up with this much institutionalized racism, but let us try and empathize with them sometimes.
For me, I see why they would find it offensive.

  114. Some is definitely wrong with considering the demeaning and dehumanizing of Black People world wide hence, those casting the advert should have been cautious of the reactions that the product will generate and do their advert devoid of anything that will bring any Black Person involved to ridicule the Black Race or further exacerbate the tension created by the ongoing Race War.
