Buhari distance self from Saraki's Code of Conduct Trial

In a statement released this evening by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, President Buhari distanced himself from the ongoing trial of Senate President Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Bureau. In the statement, Shehu said that the laws binding the Code of Conduct bureau and Tribunal forbids interference from external forces from any quarters.

Garba said those who were accusing Buhari of witch hunting Saraki are uninformed

"This therefore is purely a judicial process and has nothing to do with the Presidency. Let them hire a good team of lawyers to prove their innocence. Government has no desire to persecute anybody. The President has vowed to respect the rule of law and this is what he is doing by staying out of this matter. He has said times without number that the war against corruption has no sacred cows," the statement in part read.

  17. '....... the Code of Conduct Bureau and tribunal forbids interference from external forces from any quarter'. That applies to you too, 'distinguished' senators who have formed a committee to destroy the cabal which is after Saraki. Corruption seems to have been spotted, advice your man to get a good team of lawyers to exonerate himself. If he did wrong, he did wrong: whether or not some people are using it against him.

  21. My feelings about all this is for Bukola Saraki is to get his lawyers to prove his innocence. Why throw this to the public to get sympathy if he is indeed innocent. We are now wiser and will only support what is right.

  23. APC should stop telling Nigerians lies. Even a fool knows that Bokohari n Tinibu are behind Saraki's predicaments. I think Saraki bu onye ochi but he's our SP. They should leave him alone or else they gonna distroying Nigeria that GEJ was smart enough not too. We all know if PMB was in GEJ position last genral election, Syria would have been better than Nigeria now. I don't give a f**k if u agree or not

  28. A beg let due process be followed. Let the man prove his innocence and we will keep supporting him. It is that simple, no sentiments or bias.

  29. I think people should begin thinking right now and in right direction. Let me ask you, can any agency speak truth or do right thing in d immediate past corrupt government, they all now know that, if they fail to do d right thing, such person will be fire. It is only in dis part of the world I see people do wrong thing and when they try to bring them to justice, they called it "witch hunting". If Saraki didn't have anything hidden he shld hav display good example by appear before CCT instead of taken an injunction restrained the court from him appear him. When r we going to grow up from dis sentiment.

  32. Yes you are correct, for 12 years out of 16 YEARS PDP was in government nothing was done. Now a serious Govt must start from somewhere, so u better open your brain to the change sweeping the country and let Saraki go and defend himself cos we have better things to do.
