The Caged and Free Spirited - Photographed by Emily Nkanga

Fresh out of The American University Of Nigeria, 20year old Nigerian photographerand filmmaker Emily Nkanga is about to take the Nigerian Art stratosphere by storm with the birth of her“Emily Nkanga Photography”.

Working on her new project titled The Caged And Free Spirited, Emily gives us a collection of pictures and quotes about emotions. These quotes reflectsour lives as humans in which things can be going well, and in the split of an eye, the reverse is the case. Her collection touches on one of the emotions people are scared to talk about – Depression.

In August 2014, Emily won NTC Award for the most outstanding female in photography. She was also named as one of the "20 upcoming young photographers to watch" by City People Magazine in July 2014. Her work has been showcased on different media platforms.

Emily, a graduate of Communications and Multimedia Design (TV/Film) draws most of her inspiration from everyday activities and fine art. She started photography in August 2012.

The project was brought to life with the help of Mahogany Obodozie (Model) and Jide of St Ola (Makeup Artist).
