In an environment where weaves and relaxers are celebrated, The Kinky Apothecary’s mission has been to change ideals of beauty in Nigeria and beyond by offering resources, products, inspiration and support to women who have taken a step in going against the mould.
In October 2013, The Kinky
Apothecary launched Natural Hair Month- a month celebrating natural hair in
Nigeria- as a way of shining the spotlight on our beautiful hair in all its
glory. The main focus was the “Loving Your Hair” workshop by celebrity stylist
Felicia Leatherwood.
This year, The Kinky
Apothecary brings to you The Nigerian Natural Hair & Beauty Show, Nigeria’s
first ever expo dedicated to healthy hair care, beauty and lifestyle.
The Kinky Apothecary C.E.O
Nibi Lawson stated “With the Nigerian Natural Hair & Beauty Show we hope to
create a fun yet educational environment where people can relax, mingle, shop,
but most importantly, learn”

I like the mission but not the name. The play on words doesn't work for me. It's distracting from the noble mission.

ReplyDeleteI don't even understand their point, natural hair is suppose to be celebrated but am seeing where weaves and relaxers are celebrated do they even know the meaning of natural hair at all?
ReplyDeleteNot sure you read it properly. They don't promote relaxers at all and only see weaves as protective styles. They're nigeria's first and best natural hair blog. I've been following her for a while.
DeleteGreat! At least we can now hv our very own Nigerian hair.
ReplyDeleteOkay heard
ReplyDeletego connect with peeps and have fun ladies
ReplyDeleteThis is nice.So when will we have something like this in Abuja? We dont promote relaxers, maybe weaves which is used to protect our hair from harsh weather conditions or to give it a break for constant styling and manipulation. Its a personal thing, you are either in or out!
