The Forbes Five: Diddy tops Hip-Hop's Wealthiest Artists of 2015

Yesterday Forbes released it's list of the Top 5 Richest Hip Hop kings and surprisingly, Diddy beat Dr Dre to the top spot. Dr Dre last year sold his Beats By Dre Company to Apple in 3 billion dollar deal so you would expect that he's the richest but no, Diddy is!
Amazingly enough, Dre is not the richest man in hip-hop; that honor goes to Diddy, who clocks in at $735 million. The news may come as a surprise to many, but while Dre’s wealth ($700m) derived from a single jackpot idea, Diddy’s is the product of his interests in a slew of companies, a handful of which could one day give him a Beats-esque exit."     I'm not surprised at all, people keep saying he sold beats by dre for 3 billion as if he got 3 billion cash, he never did and if you read the break down of how he got paid and what he got paid, you wont be surprised diddy beat him, plus Ciroc is doing mightily well, small lil me get at least a bottle each of 3 of my fav flavor at least once in 2 weeks, lets not forget his 3-5 cologne company, bad boy records, clothing line and many many cheques for works done years and years ago... oh yeah and he is deep into property

    I'm convinced that we as Nigerians don't really have a lot of knowledge about money. The fact that Dr. Dre got a lot of raw cash last year from selling his stakes at beats by "dr dre" doesn't mean that he automatically would have become the richest. Wealth is mostly measured by recurring incomes that are far more than your expenses. For instance, you might 5 million today and might just be able to invest in a business that brings you 100,000 per month while I have just 80,000 today invested in a business that brings me 600,000 per month. At the end of the year, who would be wealthier?
