So sad! Movida nightclub boss Akeem Sodeinde dies...

Akeem Sodeinde, popular nightclub boss, business man and Lagos socialite, has died. The Movida boss died today May 10th in Lagos. A family source told LIB that he died this evening in his sleep.

Akeem had been battling acute diabetes and kidney failure for a while now and even went to the UK and India for treatment which was said to be successful. He returned to the social scene and even re-opened his night club which was shut down when he was very ill. Unfortunately he relapsed and died today. So sad! May his soul rest in peace, amen.

  22. Just yesterday, an former American based millionnaire, Mr Stone died here in Calabar. He drinks beer a lot and smokes heavily. Just yesterday, luck ran against him as he had drunken and smoked heavily without eating. He started sweating profusely. He stood up and staggered towards his Toyota Hilux. He drove himself away. He lost consciousness on the steering and hit many parked vehicles on the road.He reached his house, where he was living alone only with his dog. Before he could climb the staircase of his duplex State Housing apartment, he had slumped and died. Blood was gushing from his mouth.

  38. But he could @ least have taken more care of himself and not take things for granted . See if you have a kidney infection and it is detected early enough like his own all he needed to do was to completely avoid all those his drinks , take his drugs and drink loads of water , avoid stress , plus diabetes , are we saying here that he could not have outlived those dieases
Aaaaabeg only here in St Nicholas , Dr Ebun Bamboye would give him the best , there are people who fought to live and not take things for granted .
All said and done he is gone , may his soul rest in peace .
For those going through on challenge or the other be strong and The Lord heal you .

  39. Akeem RIP, my Allah give his family the fortitude to bear this lost.

@Blossom Angie your comments were unwarranted, because there are many reasons why people suffer from diabetes or kidney failure. Although, I’m not a medical professional but my mother pass on after 50 years of struggling with diabetes and later kidney failure. For the record, she never had any form of alcohol, drugs nor did she smoke.

@anonymous (May, 11, 2015 @1.13am) I agree with your comment but there’s no need for the insults.

Akeem was kind, full of life and always allowed me into his club. Even if he smoked, we all make mistakes and we should be asking for forgiveness. May the Almighty Allah have mercy on his soul.

  62. Nigerians are afraid of death so will never be honest about the life of the deceased. If you met him or partied in his club then it's likely that your habits are similar to his.
Instead of condemning those who are mere spectators and are giving their honest opinions why not check your lifestyles and make changes.
Nigerian men are very unhealthy. The average man from 25 years old already has a potbelly regardless of his stature. Beer and meat are everyday indulgences but how many men play soccer or jog or even go for walks?
How can a man with health issues caused by drinking and smoking admit that he cannot stop the very same habits that have now caused his death?!! And you guys dont want to learn lessons?

  63. Yes, it is truly sad indeed. He was such a good person most likely misunderstood but very kind.

I feel so bad and i will miss him. I just hope his daughter is sorted because Akeem loved her pieces. '

  75. I remember the first and Only time I met him, I was at my friends karaoke night for her birthday at a lounge in abuja, he was singing a song I can't remember, but he had such a nice voice; an hour later he sent over a bottle to our table and I went to go thank him. We talked a bit and he told me about his daughter, his illness and his business and funny enough warned me not to ever get involved with "a man like him". He then gave me his card which I never saw again after that day, but he seemed like such a nice guy, I remember as I walked back to join my friends I kept thinking I hope his sickness doesn't come back again, he seems so nice. When I saw this post about his death for some strange reason I felt really bad, it's not like we were friends or anything but he left an impression on me. I hope that wherever he is now, that he has found peace.

That's a very honest and sincere post to make about him. There are people we meet just once in a lifetime and they leave an impression on us. So many nice things have been said about Akeem. I hope he made financial arrangements for his daughter before he died cos he was obviously fond of her. I also pray he rests in peace - away from the trouble and strife in this world. RIP akeem
