Remember the 2 sisters I told y'all about yesterday? They are now in Kirikiri

Yesterday, I told y'all about two sisters who were charged to court for fighting a woman. Read here. Well, those sisters are now in Kirikiri and will be there until at least Monday. Their father wasn't able to meet their bail conditions yesterday, which included four sureties (plus himself) in person. He had the N40k bail money but not the sureties. Below is a full account of what happened – told by the sisters and their father and written by a family friend (the story below was not written by me). It's from a family friend and LIB reader who knows what's going on. Read below..
Chienyenwa was dozing on a chair owned by Mummy Ada. The owner of the chair, Mummy Ada, went to her and pulled the chair from under her and warned her never to sit on her chair again. Chienyenwa fell down and after getting up challenged the lady and asked her why she pulled the chair when she could have simply asked her to get up. Mummy Ada, incensed that Chienyenwa talked back at her, held her by the neck of her shirt and slapped her. Chienyenwa immediately retaliated and slapped her back and fight ensued.
As written by a family friend of the sisters...
Mummy Ada got a black eye in the fight while Chienyenwa had her shirt and bra torn from her body. When one of the neighbors came out to separate them, Chienyenwa quickly ran inside to cover up and her father/younger sister rushed outside to see/ask what was happening. Upon seeing the father, Mummy Ada, jumped on him and accused him of sending his daughter to beat her up. She then picked up a broom and started flogging him with it. The man fenced off the blows asking her to calm down and explain what happened. The woman (probably frustrated that her blows were not making any impact) changed tacticsand tried to strip the man naked. She succeeded in pulling the man’s short knickers down before the man even knew what she was about.

The younger daughter seeing that her father was near naked, joined the fight and tried to strip the woman naked too and threatened to break a bottle on her. Luckily the woman had leggings/tights on.
After neighbors separated the fight, both parties went their way. Mummy Ada started threatening fire and brimstone. That she would deal with them and makes sure they rot in jail for ganging up on her.
She partly made true her threats as before you knew it, policemen had arrived and taken the 2 daughters away to Ogudu Police Station. The father got their on his own to release the girls and was told that the officer in charge of the matter was not around and they had express orders that bail was not to be granted to the girls until the officer arrived.

The girls slept at the Station that night. The following day, the father didn’t attend work and went to station to see about bailing his daughters. He eventually bailed them after paying about NGN 11, 500. The police then asked him and his daughters to remain available as the case was still ongoing.
The father, not wanting the case to get worse, met elders and askedthem to beg the woman and her husband on his family’s behalf. I guess they didn’t accept the plea because the police called and invited the man and his daughters to the police station today and served them court papers. They were handcuffed and told to produce bail of N40k so the case would be adjourned – failure of which they would be transferred to Kirikiri.

Last update is that they have now been taken to a court at Alausa, Ikeja.

A bit of history: Being neighbors (Mummy Ada has a shop in the same compound where the girls live), there have been no love lost between the two parties; Mummy Ada would accuse them on not greeting her and spreading rumors about her and the sisters in turn would accuse Mummy Ada of spreading rumors about them too  and calling them foul names and other provocative behavior, For example, they said Mummy Ada would start singing provocative/mocking songs whenever she saw them and would always find something funny whenever they were passing.

Having said this and while I totally abhor disrespect and any form of physical fighting, I believe respect should be reciprocal regardless of age.

This was a clear case of two people fighting. Unfortunately the lady who hit first (started the fight) is now playing victim because she has more resources to do this.
Please if anyone has a different version of the story or if you know the second party, let us hear it.

You don’t lock 2 young sisters up in Kirikiri from Friday – Monday just because you can. Haba! What did they do? When did a civil case turn criminal? From Ogudu Police Station, to Ogudu court, to Special task Force Alausa, to Kirikiri in handcuffs..

And the instigator is flaunting about, beating her chest and boasting ‘‘yes! I said it, i have locked them up!’’

I’m appalled at our Judiciary system and Police Force. Apologies to the honest and hardworking ones but this is the sad truth. A policemen in Ogudu even had the guts to ask the father ‘how much you give me?’

Mummy Ada: Laugh all you want now, but Karma will surely catch up with you. Pray you don't see problems that all the money in this world cannot/will not solve. You have falsely accused these girls, paraded false evidence, didn’t give them opportunity to defend themselves and paid your way to getting them locked up. No forget say you get children too o. Same measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over you will receive. This is not a curse. It is a promise and if you don't repent, you will get what’s coming to you as surely as God lives..

  8. Linda , have you made attempts to hear the Mama Ada's side of the story.

Without any shadow of doubt the story is not as simple as the girls have made it seem.

Before you accuse the police, judiciary and everybody ...please know the true facts of the case.

  41. student of University of Benin was in the early hours of yesterday,6th may, caught in an attempt To Molest a girl behind the faculty of arts and social sciences building.

It was gathered that the girl was outside the building discussing with a friend of hers who was a boy, while taking a break from night class around 2:00am,when a group of four boys suspected to be cultists approached them.

The cultists forcefully collected their phones and valuables and then they discharged the boy saying that they have some other business with the girl.

On noticing the trouble at hand,,the boy quickly left to alert other students around the vicinity and they ganged up to apprehend the criminals.

It was gathered that three of the four boys fled the scene on the arrival of the Mob while one of them was unlucky enough to be caught.

The poor girl was seen in tears as she could not utter a word and her clothes were in shreds. The angry crowd didn’t waste time to descend on the unlucky criminal with blows to his face and various severe beating.

This couldn’t go on for long as one of them suggested to hand him over to the security officials who in turn handed him over to the SUG government,,security department for further interrogations.

It was gathered that the accused is a 100 Level student and the victim is also a 100 Level student.

And the boy was caught while the both of them were in struggle to get her clothes off.

They were both made to write statements and the accused boy was handed over to the security unit.

This was done amidst calming the angry students as many of them were seen wielding weapons such as planks,,stones,,iron rods and other dangerous weapons just to vent their anger.

The students can’t take it anymore. They have had enough of this people oppressing and obtaining their valuables now they are graduating To Molest.

As it stands now,,no further news has reached the students in the on going case. But mean while,,the SUG government has advised every student to be careful while walking at night.

However,,it is not really clear if it was an attempted rape case or she was truly raped. As tongues are wagging that she may have been raped but the story have been twisted in order to avoid stigmatisation of the victim and also aggravated anger from the student populace that may be uncontrolled.

  56. Well dear Linda, God bless you for your efforts in fighting cause like this honestly it is impressive. However once there is beating or such physical contacts the law in its effort to protect life and properties criminalizes it. Police can therefore wade in but not to detain in this manner without proofs beyond reasonable doubt or in such a victimizing manner. Am sure having made this public the story will change. Keep it up

  116. Linda, please no sentiment, If the complainant alleges threat to life and the police decides to pursue this in the court of law and subsequently charges the case to court for further adjudication, where have they both erred, Police and Complainant. The sisters can seek redress after judgment is found in their favour or are you claiming our judiciary will not be objective on this matter. On the issue of bail if the accused are of good xter finding sureties by monday shouldn't be an issue. Thank you.

  130. Police served them court papers and asked them to bail themselves, since when did the police become the court of law. When you employ ignorant men give them uniform and arm them thats what you get. The highest bidder pulls their strings.I hope the girls havent been raped by the police.

  132. That is our police for you. I have been locked up in kirikiri from Friday-Monday for a similar situation, the evil man in question boasted that he'll do that to me & he did. Before then I thought only armed robbers & drug dealers are taken to kirikiri. Burahi needs to overhaul the Nigeria Police, once most of them see bribe, they turn evil.

  139. Nature runs a supermarket where you don't have to place an order. You are automatically served what you deserve. To both Mummy Ada and the Ogudu arm of police force, it will be too late to cry when decides visiting.
Had she known, she wouldn't have used her cheap and wireless connection to cheat those girls and the entire family. You have just inscribed an indelible mark of natural reprisal on yourself.
I don't blame you, in the city of the blind, one-eyed man is always the king. Have you seen GOD angry before ? Just watch nemesis coming your way!

  140. Linda I know the likes of this woman, they are everywhere and should be avoided, I mean avoiding them is not out of cowardice, just for Christ sakes. If we should go by the story, since there was no good relationship between them before, the girl shouldn't have seated on her chair and this ugly situation wouldn't have arise. I used to have one like this type of woman in my husband compound when I was in Naija. she hated my husband for no reason and when my DH married me, she transferred the hates on me. One day she was chasing her son to beat him up and the son came where i was sitting to take refuge, this woman dragged her son and me, and i fell down, she then pulled out her son, and wasn't remorseful about it, she pretended as if nothing happened even to say sorry to me. This happen a week after my arrival in the compound. What am i saying, this kind of woman should be avoided period.

  142. NEWS FLASH; mama ada and choma ajunwa are related or from the same town that's why the case went from collecting 11k bail to going to court. The IPO should be arrested and questioned. When we start dismissing n disgracing officers for the corrupt work then the NPF might have hope. If you want to find out the true story involve the military to interogate the IPO. To be poor is the biggest crime ever.

  149. I feel d gals shd hv avoided d woman. One she's older thanm her & secondly she's a trouble making. We christian shd endeavour to practice teachings of Christ. If someone clap u on one chick turn d other to him. If the girl had patiently gone inside to report the woman to her father. I believe it wouldn't have resulted to this. Vengeance is of the Lord. Let's always allow our ooperssors to assume they have won & leave things to God to handle & fight on our behalf.

We learn everyday. I hope d girls learnt from this & ask God to teach them our to exercise d fruits of the spirit. & same goes for mama Ada

    ReplyDelete
  150. Nigerians, you have already start judging without hearing the two sides to the story. Are we so sure that girls aren't sleeping with/dating Mama Ada's husband or even carrying his baby? I think Linda should have gone to see Mama Ada and interview her. Infact Linda should investigate the matter by asking the neighbours what's really going on. Children of nowadays can do and undo, we don't know maybe its been a built up issue. Those kids might have been tempting her since.

  151. Linda God bless you for speaking up! Our policemen are beyond useless!!! It's obvious that they are uneducated... Very few are good... I'm honestly hoping that the BUHARI administration will conduct the much needed reforms in the police force... Bunch of useless uniform officers that harass the people they are meant to protect and trigger happy bastards! So sad

  155. Reading the comments here I am worried about Nigeria like never before. This whole trouble was brought upon the girls by themselves. Whatever happened to our cultural value of respect to Elders in the face of visible attack. The impunity of lack of respect and verbal assault in Nigeria should never be mistaken for the right thing. How many have been abused and insulted by bus conductors and others who feel nothing will come out of such act? And to any of you blaming Mama Ada for the girls been taken to Kirikiri, you need to hear her side of the story and also understand that she is not the court and we should direct our blame somewhere else. Now let us assume she is the IGP does she also control the courts? I think we should always think outside the box rather than jump into conclusions. It is only in Nigeria you see people sympathetic with somebody who deliberately decided to break the law. Must the girls result to fight? Let us assume Iya Ada or what's her name is comes at them what stops them to go and complain to their father rather than engage her? My advise is take this as a lesson people. At all time try to avoid any form of violent conflict, let your humility and patience single you out.

  157. Do u know for a fact that there are in kirikiri... If the girls want pity there should release their names and address let real investigative journalists get their side of the story. Nigerians we live on emotions that's why nothing ever works. Facts facts facts with details. For all I know this story could have been conjured to tarnish the Dpo. Facts Linda. Name address date

  158. Linda Linda,
This is a Minor case that I think you can personally take up. I am sure it wont cost you much to show these oppressors that you are also a civil rights persona. Chioma Ajunwa will surely not like her name in the negative in your circle, so I challenge you to take action immediately. Thank you
