Nigerian Twitter explodes as debate begins over Buhari and Iara Oshiomole's handshake

Some conservative Nigerians are going after President Elect, Buhari over his handshake with the new First Lady of Edo State at her wedding. According to them, Buhari went against his religious values to do so. According to some, Islam prohibits a man shaking the hands of any female that is not his wife. Back then it was considered that a girl was of age when she starts seeing her period. It's allowed to marry up to 4 wives to reduce promiscuity on the part of the men.     Real jobless people.. What is the point of religion? Isnt it to create a way for people to live in harmony? It should never be used to alienate people. Shaking a persons hand is an act of courtesy and signifies harmony and peace. Why should something like this be discouraged?? Because the married men(in this particular religion)are suspicious and paranoic?? No one is perfect and I guarantee shaking a woman's hand in public doesnt increase nor negate the possiblity of extramarital relationship.
    Shouldnt we be more enlightened than this??

    Buhari chose a pastor as his vice president because he wants to promote peace. It is the Christian culture to give handshake. So why didnt he chose a muslim as his vice president?? Pls Buhari is promoting peace and change from our backward behaviour. The other day, Buhari's wife was encouraging young girls to get to at least 18 years before they get married because she is from the north & she has seen that getting married at 13 years is not good. Instead of people to applaud her, they started criticising her. Nigerians with this your behaviour, i am sorry to say, you will never move forward. When you see something good, you criticise.     All that I know and believe, no ONE, no matter the hatred he has against Muslims and their religion, is capable of changing their faith in their religion even by an inch. This is because any faithful in any religion, be it scriptuos or otherwise, practises his faith solely to please his 'God' Who is the only One to reward him. So one can be so bitter about the Islamic religion that he abuse it and it's adherence, but he can't change anything at all. This is a clear case of religious intolerance.
