FG downgrades Asaba airport, declares it unsafe for travelers

The Federal government has downgraded and declared Asaba Airport in Delta state unsafe for travelers. In a statement released by the Federal Ministry of Aviation today May 5th, the Aviation ministry stated that the airport facility was downgraded and declared unsafe due to the failure of the Delta State government to fix key infrastructure such as undulating runways as well as provision of perimeter fence at the airport as directed by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority.
“The Federal Government has downgraded the Asaba Airport over the failure of the Delta State government to put in place measures that would guarantee the safety and security of passengers using the airport.” the statement in part reads

  34. That airport is one of the best in Nigeria.
It is by far better than MMA.
The land mass around the airport is expansive, its not cost effective to tar the whole place.
There is sufficient room for expansion which is dependent upon air traffic to Asaba.
Dont jump into conclusions guys. Its not bad at all.

  38. Y'all Remember that it's just a downgrade not shutting down... Normal activities will still be going on, just the type of aircrafts using their runway will be changed... smaller aircrafts like HS, Antonov, TB9, Amphibians, Gulf streams can still make use of the runway, but the big boys like Boeings wnt make use of the airport... if a boeing 737 can't takeoff and land in the airport, then u knw that commercial purposes will be crippled somehow

  39. At least they called their attention to it fast. To be fore-warned is to be fore-harmed
