Photos: Drug convicts executed in Indonesia buried

Indonesia disregarded last-minute appeals and executed 8 drug traffickers including 4 Nigerians. Pictures of the dead being buried and details from their last minutes before being executed have been released to the media. According to the pastors who were with them in their final hours, Andrew Chan, Myuran Sukumaran and the other 6 death row inmates declined to wear blindfolds and were singing as they were shot by a 13-member firing squad in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The 8 men chose to face their executioners and spent their last minutes on earth praising God and singing songs which included 'Amazing Grace'.

On Wednesday morning, Pastor Christie Buckingham - who read Chan and Sukumaran their last rites - said the 8 death row inmates walked out onto the killing field singing religious songs in the moments before they were executed. Pastor Buckingham said the men conducted themselves with 'dignity and strength until the end'. Another pastor, Karina de Vega, said it was a 'beautiful experience'.

    2. If Jesus did not forgive the thief on his execution day, what will we call Jesus? A liar? Remember the crimes of these people,Cain,David,Solomon, peter,Mary Magdalen, apostle paul(Saul) etc.James 1:20,the anger of man cannot walk out Gods righteousness. No matter the offence,no one has the right to take life including Abortion which is lawfully done in indonisia. A pity indeed

  36. They in Heaven. The president of Indonesia knows he did wrong. He only acts like he has no conscience but he surely does. He is doing all this for political power so the citizens don't see him as weak. Will he tell the world he has never done wrong or committed an offence. Whenever we commit an offence, another life is damaged no matter what the crime is. So he is not free from this at all. He has the blood of these dead guys on his hands.

Good to know the Yorubas too do drugs out there. Saying this based on all the insults in the past. People just assume that Igbo boys are the only ones doing bad business out there. Truth is no tribe is saint. It is who gets caught.

This person should be shot along with those people. After knowing the penalty and disobeying another country's rules, you are talking about burial in igbo land. If you bury them in igbo land, does it guarantee them going to heaven?? Oya go to Catania and start fishing for all the dead igbos at the bottom of the sea and bring them home to bury na! Mtchew!

  70. If u have to go to any country to traffick drugs, pls confirm there drug laws. It is even boldly written on the visa that drug trafficking attracts a death penalty, If the laws of the land says execution for drug trafficking, pls what is the big deal? These are people who respect there laws unlike in Nigeria, where there is no respect for the laws of the land. If they have been successful and all, shebi naija would have given them chieftancy titles. They only got the reward for there actions

    ReplyDelete
  73. I think countries should remove death penalty from their laws. God is the only one that gives life and has the right to take the life he has created. Moreover, somebody carried them in the stomach for 9 months. Even if it was a murder case, God said in the bible that vengeance or revenge is for him not for you. Who are you to take a life that you did not create. Anyways, that is not to say that what they did is good. Most importantly, i am happy they all knew God and gave their lives to Christ before they died and hopefully made heaven

    ReplyDelete
  74. Our Ibo and Yoruba brothers pls stop embarrassing Nigeria when you travel abroad. I hadly hear stories of hausa or other minority tribes committing crimes abroad. Truth be told! Stop your useless behaviours in the quest for money or desperation for money. The embarrassment and disgrace to Nigeria is getting too much. This is why Nigerians have lost respect abroad.

  75. So sad, RIP to the dead. People should learn to obey other countries law.

  76. Why now, Mrs. TC.

    ReplyDelete
  77. its a shame.Indonesia should note that their country is not an island. this behavior is backward, archival and stinks of xenophobia. In due course they will be begging other countries to do business with them. Unfortunately our country is slow in addressing the plights of its people with no social benefits to mitigate the effects of economic difficulties.

    ReplyDelete
  78. There is no lesson to learn for this except that people should never be forgiven for mistakes as well. People on LIB that say that a lesson should be learnt are just stating that people should be intolerable of faults. Shame

    ReplyDelete
  79. May their gentle souls rest in perfect peace; in-spite of the International plea, they still remained stone hearted and executed those souls, God is watching...and judgement shall fall on them too without mercy...

    ReplyDelete
  80. drug trafficking is a choice adn its use is also a choice. Killing a trafficker and leaving the user is like killing a prostitute and leaving the pimps alone or the customers of the prostitutes alone.

In the law of economics, if there is no demand, supply will diminish.

in the field of psychology , negative reinforcement is a poor way to change behavior
This stinks of illiteracy, ignorance and subsequent ignominy for its people. I hope they will not turn around and state that this evil was perpetuated by a select few officials and the country should not be made to bear the brunt when their actions backfire in their faces
