Obasanjo & Buhari will eventually fight, Buhari will be a formidable opponent - Babatope

In an interview with Punch, PDP chieftain, Ebenezer Babatope said former president Obasanjo and incoming president Buhari will eventually fight but Buhari will prove to be a formidable opponent. When asked what he foresaw of Buhari and Obasanjo's relationship, Babatope replied;
Many of them who are jumping up and down now will know better when Buhari must have finished dealing with them. Buhari is a Fulani man from Daura. The northern agenda to get rid of southern leadership started in the 2011 elections. Obasanjo had his reasons. He supported Jonathan to succeed Yar’Adua and he was the same person that said Jonathan should go. As an individual, he has his rights. I am told he has been given three ministerial slots. It could be more than that, so let him go ahead but it does not stop Obasanjo tomorrow to take his biro to wipe Buhari clean and clear but the difference is that when he is fighting Buhari, he will be fighting a different kind of opponent. Buhari is a Fulani; I keep on saying that and they are very rugged and tactical in their approach to power. It is going to be an interesting fight but it is going to come.
We in the PDP are waiting because we are returning to power in 2019 and luckily for us, we are going to bring out a candidate from the North to face Buhari. Some in the APC have been deceiving themselves that Buhari is not going to run for a second term. They say he’s going to do a term and I laugh at them. If God gives Buhari strength and power and I wish him that, he is going to run for a second term and we will pitch a Hausa/Fulani against him.

  21. Love the optimism in his statement when he said PDP will be back come 2019. I pray tho. As for OBJ fighting GMB, I think he needs keep quiet and watches our everything unfolds as Buhari is not a puppet that could easily be manoveuvered by OBJ, which I believed OBJ knows fully well. So it will be nice of him to keep his opinion to himself.

    1. This guy is clearly in lala land. By 2019 obasanjo will be a very very very old man wt no influence. Buhari might or might not be willing to go for a second term. And APC will bring an igbo candidate if he leaves. If he doesnt leave, d north will still vote buhari. No one else has dt recognition & respect in d north.

  35. I'm so ashamed of all this people.Can you hear yourself sir ?.Have you not had enough?

    Is it about individual and party interests or is it about the country and the citizens of the Federal republic of Nigeria?

    You will pitch a Hausa/fulani man not because you want to but the northern vote is heavy and very significant hence you will ignore the igbos/ibos (again),the Yoruba and field another northerner for the simple reason of pitching them against one another.

    You all are a wicked lot and that's why bad things keep happening to you and your family members.shameless,horrible people.

  59. Our parents' generation are so dull, useless and stupid that all they ever cared/care about is tribalism. All they concern themselves with is bullshit and that's why Nigeria is where it is today. Only a few great people/leaders managed to come out of their generation, the likes of Dora Akunyili, Oby Ezekwesili, Buhari, Tunde Bakare, Tunde Fashola, Tam David-West etc are examples of the few that are great from their generation.

    Imagine what the heck this man is saying. We are talking about national integration and all you and your dead party have to talk about is "tribe"? Dummies!
