Nollywood director Ifeanyi Ikpoenyi responds to Kunle Afolayan's tweets about the Igbos

You know when people have an opinion about you and just can't wait for the right moment to let you know...:-). Nollywood director Ifeanyi Ikpoenyi aka Mr Hollywood reacts to Kunle Afolayan's tweets

"I almost ignored Kunle Afolayan's useless tweets about Igbos being the only Pirates in Nigeria because to me, Kunle is just an over rated Nollywood film maker. He's not better than Izu Ojukwu, Teco Benson, Obi Emelonye, Chineze Anyaene to mention but a few. 
The secret of Kunle is his DOP Yinka Davies who does everything for him and at the end of the day Kunle will just come and announce 'action'... Give him another local DOP and see if Kunle is worth all the praises his kinsmen showers on him. Kunle should thank Peace Anyiam Osigwe for giving him the platform of AMAA as a pedestal to limelight. Trust me, if Kunle walks the street of Onitsha, Aba, Enugu or any where outside yoruba land, not even one person will recognise him as a celebrity. I will rather worry myself with the Oba's threat to Ndi igbo than spend one second of my time thinking about Kunle's senseless tweets about the Igbos.

    Obviously that was a wrong move from Kunle Afolayan. Tribalism is not allowed and should not be tolerated.
    It was wise of him to have apologised and accept that it was a blunder.

    For me, personally I can see hatred and smell personal beef for Kunle by this guy called Ifeanyi.

    He should seal his mouth and show more respect to his professionalism while he faces the real issue at hand, which is far from whether Kunle is a good actor or not or who is the secret behind Kunle's success.

    As usual. Well Linda not sure whos side you are on but to be honest i read that thing more than once and he didn't say anything derogatory. He didn't say anything like that at all. to be honest its common knowledge that Piracy DVDs etc are largely produced in the east. NO shade at all.its just the painful truth and this producer just didn't need to chime in and try to challenge someones WORK because of this.it just seems like one hater finding his voice. Picking ones battles is key. i read that thing with an open mind and there was nothing offensive. As i said, i guess it just wrong timing. Piracy is so terrible in Nigeria. Even in the music industry that's why artist rather push a single driven market. In the US artists sell singles while here we give it out for free allow the pirates make stupid money of it and hope to get booked for gigs. I guess we are more of the traditional career driven society but the government needs to dod something to help protect peoples intellectual property. Artists need to start getting residuals for their work. there is no reward on publishsing in Nigeria. Its possiblew in 10 years you wont be making so much moneyry and as this in the music or movie industry. Micheal Jackson at one point owned the Beatles Publishing and trust me thats money that would Artist need to benefit from their work. both in the movie and music industry. Look at Kukere for Christ Album. thats clear stealing. Im a Christian and i will say the truth that the person who created that album stole!!! HE didn't get any sample clearance to use that beat. thats supposed to be Iyanayas intellectual property and if that guy had gotten sample clearance some residuals from that album sale should still go to Iyanya. the point of this story is that we need to be honest. I guess Uche Jumbo and some others didnt like him from get or something and saw this as a means to create chaos. You cant blame him. its like owning a restaurant and someone starts stealing your food. Linda i know you may not agree but please can you post my comment.

    Actually most of the scene especially d village scenes were shot in a local village inside ilara-mokin while d Reverend father scenes was shot in my school Elizade University located in ilara-mokin. I was presently there when they were filming. Kunle sat behind with Pat Nebo calling the shots nd if the actions were not good they made a repeat. So this one writing rubbish now just want to score cheap points lyk FFK who's quick to bounce on every thing. Without u putting up this post now I wouldn't know such person exist. He should park well jor let breeze blow. or didn't he see kanayo O kanayo in the movie nd some other Igbo people who I don't know about. Kunle also said it that most of his cast in phone swap are igbo's. So ogbeni if u see dis u had beta park well. Jele Sinmi O.

    Are we all BLIND to see there is division in everything in Nigeria? The campaigns for presidential elections did more division to an already divided people. How come there was no rant about the obvious division in the so called Nollywood? The yoruba producers and marketers are different from the hausa ones, the Iweka road producers and marketers also stand alone. Does the ibinabo lead AGN represent in totality the interest of yoruba and hausa actors? Why are we fooling ourselves? Kunle afolayans father made movies in Nigeria in the era of Ogunde, movies were shot on celluloid and went straight to cinema, no piracy. A culture of movie going was developing and appreciated all over the world and so was Nigerian music then. Kunle has followed in the footsteps of his father through the training and mentorship of real producers of african films like Tunde kelani. If you watch kunles movies you will see careful scripting, acting, directing, editing, special effects etc. it is wrong for anyone to put that much into his work and not be bitter about anyone from any tribe that steals it for their own gain. Alibaba wrote recently about how the movie production and markrting started in the south east. It is all about money, not the art or culture involved. There is division in our land, there is division in our lives. The people dancing all over the place for the millions that was paid invthe name of campaign should have channeled that money into working tirelessly to ensure piracy is stopped. They should have appealed to government to enforce laws that will make piracy has illegal has drug trafficking. They should have made use of the attention they were receiving from Mr president. As usual in Nigeria its all about selfish gains and show off opportunity. Kunle Afolayan, i salute your work and your courage. This is Lagos, it is yorubaland, a land that has made visitors welcome and strangers feel at home and allowed their businesses thrive. Let us reapect a people and culture of tolerance.
