Misao Okawa, world's oldest person dies today at 117

Japanese woman, Misao Okawa, who is said to be the world's oldest person, died today April 1st, just a few weeks after celebrating her 117th birthday. (she's pictured above at her 116th birthday last year)

Misao died of heart failure & stopped breathing while surrounded by her family at her Osaka nursing home this morning. "She went so peacefully, as if she had just fallen asleep." her caregiver said

Okawa was born in Osaka, Japan on March 5, 1898. She was recognized as the world's oldest person by Guinness World Records in 2013. She got married in 1919, has three children who are all dead. She lost her husband in 1931. She was survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

  18. RIP.
Bt i think me Great Grand Ma is older than her, as her daughter (me grand Ma is over 90yrs).
Its jst unfortunate that she ain't got no birth certificate to claim the coveted Crown.
Thank God 4 their long lives but i think 80 is more than enough 4 me, cos Dude don't wanna grow very old and become a burden to others (i 'm not saying they are burden cos i cherish every moment i stay with them even the selfie i hit n put on my g+ is a shot i took at her Barnyard. I jst don't wanna see myself lookin helpless, as in not being able to do shit).

  19. This is my wish and desire,God bless me beyond my imaginations so I can build an affordable old peoples home in each state, but @ least starting with my LGA and hometown, amen!A lot of old folks re really suffering, each time I walk past an old woman or man begging on d street, I feel so much for them, for me my own change is to help d old by giving there life a meaning,we should change our mentality about old people,if na for naija, dem for don label dis woman a witch, any evil dat happens in her vicinity,na she cause am!
