Presidential Media aide, Reuben Abati has described as totally
irresponsible the statement made by Governor of Lagos state Babatunde
Fashola that the success of the robbery incident that occurred in Lekki
yesterday March 12th was as a result of the drafting of all police
formation in the state to protect President Jonathan who was in the
state when the robbery incident occurred. Reuben Abati spoke to state
house correspondence
"We consider the statement attributed to Governor Fashola as grossly and utterly irresponsible. We expect that a man of his status who is the Governor of a state should speak more responsibly. It doesn't make any sense whatsoever that the entire police formation in a state would be deployed to protect the president of Nigeria. The visit of the President or any part of the country does not necessitate the depletion of the police force active in that particular state or its environment. The President has a defined team that protects him anywhere he goes and again President Jonathan does not need the entire police force to protect him in a state where he is loved by the people and where as we have seen, he enjoys overwhelming support to the leadup of the 2015 presidential election" he said
I concur. Lindaobserve
ReplyDeleteYes totally irresponsible

#smh - PDP requested Moroccan king to talk to muslims in Nigeria to vote GEJ. Now we are being called LIARS by Morocco.
DeleteSAI BUHARI
This statement says it all mostly dis part "We consider the statement attributed to Governor Fashola as grossly and utterly irresponsible."
DeleteI hope d governor wil respect his age after he read dis statement.
How has d mighty fallen?? I thot he was different 4rm my big mouthed governor amaechi! Change' indeed! JA2015
DeleteWonder wat dey smoke over der in Apc?? Dey must have passed him a shot! Not his fault!!
DeleteNa dem sabi o
Delete"and again President Jonathan does not need the entire police force to protect him in a state where he is loved by the people and where as we have seen, he enjoys overwhelming support to the leadup of the 2015 presidential election"
DeleteWho is deceiving this people...
Lets tell our selves d truth, d policemen dat wer killed didn't stand a fighting chance, the robbers killed dem on d spot when they arrive, perhaps GEJs visit was even a blessing in disguise b/cos I doubt they wud have hesitated to shoot more policemen if the were also present there....RIP to the dead, may god grant theor families d strenght to bear der lose...
DeleteI Miss chioma Obi feels d same way. Fashion that's an irresponsible statement . The president doesn't use your police men , he has his own team. I like you fashola and i stay at lekki. Pls never speak like an uneducated man again. Thank you
DeleteI remember sometime in June 2013, when we were having our students week in my school @ Akoka, we paid for one of the national security to help us with security issues on the grand finale of the Students week, which is the beauty pageant day. We were promised by the commandant that they would come with a van with 10 men, we agreed and we paid the required sum. To my greatest surprise on the day of the beauty pageant, only 2 men showed up, I went to the SUG president bcos I was the social director then to ask what was wrong, he was also surprised. We decided to drive down to their office that noon before the event started, on getting to the office, the commandant said he is sorry they have to reduce the number of men they sent us because the president GEJ is visiting Lagos and the visit is impromptu and some of his men have been requested to guide him. All I could say that was WTF!!
DeleteNow thinking about this, the president didn't visit Akoka that day but they took men from Akoka, how much more when the president went to the stock exchange which is on the Island? That translate to the fact that all the policemen on the island would have been drafted to different roads that leads to the Stock Exchange.
The president at no time travel with security men aside very few SSS or DSS guys that travel with him, it is expected that the local security authority in any state he's going would provide uniform men for maximum security. So, i'll concur with Fashola because I first heard of such nonsense about 2years ago.
U dey mind d youba crack head? Amala don block em brain finish! Yeye!

DeleteBut the president refused to approve state police cos of politics. His man mbu is in charge of Lagos command. That tells you they should protect lagosians and not only gej.If yibos are tired of Lagos,go back to ur village.Fashola is damn right!
Delete@willi lmao very funny of u
DeleteShhhhhh. Fashola gave a concrete point deal wit it,shekenan!
ReplyDeleteFashola must be a fool for making such a foolish statement.
DeleteI'm an ardent supporter of everything good and proper.
DeleteI admire governor fashola a great deal but I feel this statement was a tad irresponsible.
Aboki suyaman how suya market?
Deletethis abokidawarriboy is very stupid. fashola made a very senseless remark. i honestly have lost all respect for him. how cld all police formations have been deployed to protect jonathan when i saw all d nuisance police in my own area that day constituting a nuisance as usual. does fashola think we are stupid. infact for that reason alone im voting agbaje for lagos.
DeleteThought fashola was different? That statement is not only irresponsible but treasonable.
DeleteFashola is 100% right but i disagree with him because he is a politician and he's trying to politicise the misfortune of others.
DeleteNow ask yourself for over an hour dare devil robbery operation on a place like Lekki and not even one police resistance in sight.
If you are familiar with Lekki you would know their is always police presence at the entrance and exist but on that day none was present.
Shhhhhh. Fashola gave a concrete point deal wit it,shekenan!
ReplyDeleteI know people get robbed in cms, ojota etc everyday. Pls is GEJ also the cause?
DeleteAm disappointed at fashola , for saying that trash. Lawyer my ass
DeleteSee this mumu
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with Abati on this one.. There is no way all the police officers will be deployed ,just to safeguard GEJ...

ReplyDeleteOld fool. What's your point?
DeleteMadam Fatty bom bom,you are too old for such useless comments.
DeleteHer point is that GEJ has given Abati so much money that he is so quick to support a thief like jonathan. Don't like her comment then keep it moving. Freedom of speech biko
DeleteAbati wey poor before. See him head now don turn times 2. How he no go talk rubbish.
Deletei dont know why this woman says rubbish all d time. fashola exhibited stupidity and she is busy calling abati cheap.

ReplyDeleteCut the crap. Fashola only spoke the truth and thrush they say is bitter. It has affected your taste bug so you had to reply and write down rubbish. Abeg park well
ReplyDeleteIts truth not thrush, that statement is not only irresponsible but stupid as well.
DeleteWho is this chimpanzee called Reuben,u also are talking
ReplyDeletefashola you have succeeded in making a mess of yourself cos of elections. in case you dont know lagosians have lost all respect for you. do you really have to mess yourself up in order to be seen to be campaigning for GMB when everyone knows you dont approve of his candidature. you openly said agbaje is above 60 so too old for lagos so that means in your heart of hearts you know GMB is too old as well. I pity your family especially your wife who am sure will be very mad st the way her husband is being turned into a dirty rag for tinubu family to wipe their feet
ReplyDeletesomeone needs to advise fashola to uphold his dignity. it took tinubu 2 terms to be a godfather in lagos. he has done 2 terms and he is busy dancing stupid tunes for tinubu. senseless dumbass!
DeleteThumbs up
DeleteFashola and irresponsible statements sha...
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with him.
ReplyDeleteI don't agree with Givernor Fashola either...
ReplyDeleteThats d only wrong fashola has done in 8 years
ReplyDeleteTruely,Fashola let down his countless supporters down with that politically motivated speech.

ReplyDeleteBut the police is for all NIGERIANS not just Gej,this is the first president that blocks road when his coming or going out of the villa does that happen in any other country what is Gej so affraid of? Not democratic president, senator or governor has ever bin assasinated.he just causes chaos nd discomfort every where he goes
ReplyDeleteIt so easy 2 investigate, its d handy work of PDP 2 ruin Fashola's administration and 2 damage APC campaign. But sori 2 say dat Abati and d entire so called PDP av failed woefully, even if dey use der machineries we in lagos will neva vote PDP...God Bless Nigeria!!!
ReplyDeleteshut up u fool

DeleteFASHOLA LET HIMSELF DOWN. EVEN TINUBU DID NOT DO BETTER THAN FASHOLA. I AM WONDERING WHY HE BABATUNDE FASHOLA WILL DESTROY HIS 8 YEARS LABOUR ALL IN THE NAME OF POLITICS. THE COMMENT HE MADE WAS UTTERLY RUBBISH. I HELD FASHOLA SO HIGH, HIGHER THAN ANY ONE IN POWER AND OUT OF POWER... BUT RECENTLY HE IS MESSING THE WHOLE THING UP AND BRINGING HIMSELF DOWN. IT IS BETTER FOR FASHOLA TO QUIT POLITICS AND GO INTO SOMETHING ELSE THAN TO LET HIS HARD EARNED INTEGRITY SINK INTO RIVER OF MESS.
ReplyDeleteWhat is bro j looking for in Lagos, but seriously what is it about the frequent visits Now, votes right? come and exchange it for $s. 'Gudlock'
ReplyDeletehe went to see awujale. he landed at lagos airport. he also had to meet opc leaders. doesnt he have a right to campaign? does lagos belong to tinubu alone? even foreigners have a right to free movt in nigeria. what is it.
DeleteFashola is very wrong with his statement. Robbers plan attack before they do it. So the president's visit is not wat made the robbers succeed. Pls take note. And as for Abati, who gave him the right to attack people. He shud go and sit down. We know how he for start. Mtsweeee
ReplyDeleteIt is..
ReplyDeleteI simply concur with ruben on this, Fashola was lying nd rude to Mr president. Even if GEJ wasn't in lagos dat day the thief wud ve robbed successfully bcos our police re not equipped to handle them. The state of security in lagos is low. Fashola shud take responsible for that nd stop blaming it on mr president. And we all knw fashola won't ve commented if not for election dat is very close. He should apologize to d president.
ReplyDeleteBRF only exercised his rite 2 freedom of speech, mayb d timin was wrong but in actual sense BRF simply said d truth! now d police is also ill-equiped? if I may ask u how many of such robberies hav u heard off or seen I recent time? D robbers used d opportunity of d presidents visit knowin fully well dat d NPF will draft most of their personel 2 GEJ's security details. Dat was wat BRF simply said, he didn't call d president names!
DeleteThank-you you anonymous 10: 00. God bless you for am glad we have thinking minds like you in this country

ReplyDelete@anonymous March 13, 2015 at 11:16 PM, u took ur time to write that rubbish without thinking. Ur school fees should be refunded. Do u have electricity or fuel for ur gen? Yet u support stupid GEJ and PDP to say rubbish about a governor that has transformed a whole state without support of the federal govt. abati took time to respond to an irresponsible statement. Who is more irresponsible and jobless. Empty barrel
ReplyDeleteConfirm!
Deleteshut up what has fashola done for lagos. he has just been enriching himself

ReplyDeleteSir Abati, I've the same respect I've for you, as the one I tender unreservedly to Adamu Muazu, please Sir, kindly drift not into the Fayoses and Doyins of social media. And must you all spin an issue, statement, press release with a campaign undertone! Let this elections come and go, let social media regain some fresh air of sanity, please.
ReplyDeleteHe made a point.....if u dont like it then go and hug transformer.....i dont know wats wrong with all of u here......is dis racism in nigeria? some of u are insulting him coz hez yoruba.......ordinary gov on a normal day in nigeria uses up to 3 escort convoy talkless of the president.....fashola is just been plain about the issue and its the truth.....deal with it...
ReplyDeleteIf jonathan was the governor of lagos,i bet he cant do half of wat fashola has done.....its just the fact.....some people here talk like dey dont have any sense of humor....shoroniyen?
ReplyDeleteTruth be told,Fashola's statement can stand any close scrutiny of reasoning.A police force that is totally controlled by the FG and is happy to line the street all the way to the airport can be easily caught off-guard like it happened on the day.The question then is,has Abati ever come out to counsel the first-lady and other officials who make statemenst such as "APC is responsible for fuel shortage".And for Fashola, has he reached out to the victims?
ReplyDeletehuh? So Abati can talk about responsible statement??!! does he read what writes at all, Fair enough I dont agree with Fashola, but its a lie that GEJ bring all his protection from Abuja, that's BS. shit load of police is deployed to take part in the ground work of securing the president's before and during his visit and lets be clear ACPs work for the the CP, CP works for the IG, IG works for GEJ, so Fashola as a governor has no control of how much police is pulled out to secure the perimeter and make in a long range around the president secure. Order comes from Abuja and trust me a governor cant do shit, please people should read the constitution, when GEJ said he is not using a good percentage of the power the constitution allows him to, he was not joking, that book called the Nigerian constitution is scary, a SAN like Fashola knows whats up, a governor really really do not wanna piss a sitting president off on issues like use of police, so secretly GEJ and his team bullies some peeps its just not known to the public.

ReplyDeleteIt's unfortunate how educated people turn illiterates, and can't reason well, how can fashola say such rubish. What about his marine police, did they also went to protect GEJ. You don't do politics with everything, these are people dieing. Honour them. GEJ it will soon be over. GEJ till 2019
ReplyDeleteApc won't win Lagos again
ReplyDeleteFFK and Fayose are still coming for him
ReplyDeleteI have patiently went through all the comments but my submission is simple and I want all to please reason before making ultrances; 1. It is true that Fashola shouldn't have made such comment, it is rather unfortunate for the growth of democracy in Nigeria. 2. Let's all be sincere with our dear country, the way and rate at which security men are drafted to control traffic and guide both Mr. President and his Wife in any State they visit either together or individually is totally absurd and unreasonable. 3. Let the politicians stop runing the affair of our dear country in deceit. 4. Mr President might not be aware of the 70% state security details deployed to guide him during his visit to Lagos but some people who toy with the citizen's intelligence all in the name of eye service making the whole polity a rubbish. 5. PDP has ultered more irresponsible statement than this and am sure they are all bed of the same feaders 6. As for Reuben Abati, politics is not a do or die affair, he should also lean how to be put statement and fact straight, March 28th will determine if Mr President is loved in Lagos or not. May God gives us the right to vote the right candidates come March and April. Above all the robbery incident in Lekki on the 12th March was unfortunate and I pray that God should give the families of those who lost their lives in the incident a fortitude to bear the loss. Let us embrace peace. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGood one but ur English sucks!
DeleteI am amazed at how little people know about their surrounding. Fashola is totally right. Anytime the president is on the move the police hierarchy fall over themselves to show loyalty, otherwise....
ReplyDeleteThe other day he was going to Lord's chosen, there were two police men at every 100 meters from Marina to Cele. The same thing happens in Abuja. Whenever he is traveling you will see policemen on the route from Aso villa to the airport. With that kind of distraction, what do you think would happen to other areas the police normally patrol?
'Very irresponsible' but I have given up hope of finding 'one' responsible soul in all the lot! They are just misbehaving kids, dressed in agbada!!
ReplyDeletePolitical propaganda,,,,,,,,,always laying blames and doing nothing.
ReplyDeleteFashola!fashola!!fashola!!! How many times did I call u? Ok now
ReplyDeleteAbatti is a man of straw. You have leveraged on the ignorance of a multitude. But the fact speaks for itself. Truth spoken has hurt your presidents person abi? We all know how police men were standing guard and redundant accross Lagos on Thursday. Why do you think this criminals decided to strike on that day. These guys I say on the videos look well planned. The NPF and Mbu have stupidly abdicated their responsibility because of one misfit called a president. A president that has Soo whittled down his office it's unbelievable. Pls Fashola spoke the truth. Abati your days are numbered.
ReplyDeleteThis government come out to defend everything we experience the same thing in Abuja each time the president is traveling during yanyan bombing all the police were on the road because jonathan was supposed to travel.yanyan division of nigeria police has nothing to do on that route but police men will be pulled from all the division to wait at the airport. this madness should stop and some idiot will come out to defend this.
ReplyDeleteOn this one, Abati, you are correct!
ReplyDeleteIn view of the follow up statement to Gov. Fashola, I deem all parties involved are shielding from the truth. Gov. Fashola, may have been right with his statement though, but the Presidency controls also, the Nigerian Police force and where an ill equipped Police force exist, more of such saddening events are bound to always reoccur. Let's not trade blames, but accept our irresponsibilities are both ends, and forge a better security force for Nigeria.

ReplyDeleteOne of my main disappointments in this election aside from the disgusting mudslinging that has deviated from "the issues" is what Fashola has become. As much as i could care less for Abati and his band of pdpians, I do agree that Fash was highly irresponsible with that statement and is playing politics with people's lives! You Sir are a technocrat not a politician. What you are doing now is not your MO. Finish your u're honorably and leave the politicking to Tinubu as it has always been!
ReplyDeleteStee playin politics wv citizens' lives....they shud all park well joh!

ReplyDeleteI can't wait for Moronic Jonathan to vacate Abuja...
UK Tog.
i always knew this mediocry lawyer called fashola, as a highly overated cow,the glue that hold this association of past criminals apc and there ever gulible folowers together is there inability to think, and there ability to lie with impunity, any one who expect an associaton led by thiefnubu to be clean is akin to living in the hope that the fish will somehow live without water, this apc change is a product marketed and distributed by chalatans, been bought by no brainers.
ReplyDeletetrue... let it be known linda... he ought not 2 blame it on mr. president... a fool's talk.. all police protectin one man???
ReplyDeleteSimple logic. Is there any President of Nigeria that comes to Lagos(or any other state for that matter) that does not cause traffic and divert police attention? Is there any polce in Nigeria controlled by the state government. Anybody claiming not to appreciate fashola's comments is simply trying to stand logic on its head. However I am still voting Agbaje
ReplyDeletebut that same day police men were in the premises of where Buhari, Fashola and the rest are having town hall meeting in Lagos. The statement is spurious and ill timed.
ReplyDeleteSome idiots blaming fasola.....this kind of robbery has not happen in Lagos for a while so why in the presence of my President???
ReplyDeleteThe statement by Fashola jus proved how childishly all APC members think. He should have also blamed all the street fight, accident and even the heat from the sun on MR Presidents visit. Rubbish.
ReplyDeleteThey have given this one chocolate to eat for his last statement. Who loves Jonathan! Abeg park well!!!!! But quite alright the president does not need all the police force to protect him!
ReplyDelete"The visit of the President or any part of the country does not necessitate the depletion of the police force active in that particular state or its environment".
ReplyDeleteNow that's one heck of a crappy lie and Abati himself knows it or what does he call those men and women usually lining the Presidential route and choking off access to side streets and major intersections?
Those are local cops drafted from their places of duty and made to endure rain and shine with a very good chance of a no-show by Jonathan on some occasions.
Fashola was dead on point!
#fasholathejoker is now trending on Twitter
ReplyDeleteGEJ is just too cool, Fashola have no right to say that. GEJ is still the president and everybody needs to respect him.

ReplyDeleteSmh @ you all. You are all no different from the politicians. .insulting and cursing out yourselves with no one even bothered about the families of the deceased. The families are amongst us and probably following the conversations. We should ignore the politicians and at least pray for the families...Trading blames never solved any issue in Nigeria. Can't get better with the way we are polarised. May the Souls of the departed rest in peace and their families have the fortitude to bear the loss.
ReplyDeleteY'all need to see a clip of the robbery. No police weaponry can withstand the war front machine gun one d dudes had on him..It wasn't an Ak47 affair.

ReplyDeleteD moment i heard of dis robbery, wat i told others around me is dat,
ReplyDelete" Why won't a robbery take place at lekki of all place, when all policemen have gone to secure rallies for d upcoming election ". For robbers to think of performing an operation in Lagos, they need to think thrice, cos of d security in Lagos. So they knew Lagos is vulnerable to security b4 dey operate. So i don't blame Fashola 4 wat he said.
1. I am really disappointed in you Nigerians, you are all suffering 4m d same disease, and yet u r abusing one another ethnically.
ReplyDelete2. Maybe u all forgot d hard work of BRF drove away Ebola 4m Lagos. Or maybe he should have done nothing so dat Ebola will spread in Lagos and contain Nigeria, so we can see if Ebola will choose not to affect d Igbos or Yorubas. Y'all burning 4m d same fire, yet abusing each other.

ReplyDeleteFashola Wat of the security agents attached to you isi aki.you would ve released them to go to leeki and chase the armed robbers if they want declare you dead Dat day.anuofia!
ReplyDeletePot calling kettle black! DOES THE 1st LADY THINK BEFORE OPENING HER MOUTH? She utters nonsense and disrespect every time she opens her mouth! Bloody illiterate! SMH
ReplyDeleteFashola, I respect u a lot but since this whole election thing started u have made me to think twice about APC. Yes policemen will follow the president if he is in Lagos for protection but not the entire police force. Am not a Nigerian but I have lived all my life in dis country in Lagos to be precise and I have lived on admiralty way for atleast three years that incident was scary and anything political shouldn't have been mentioned. U need to stop PDP for everything and besides u re in charge of Lagos not GEJ
ReplyDeletei am amazed at Abati's transformation intellectually and even in dressing mode. the mess created by PDP all over the nation has finally been brought to our doors in Lagos especially people that lives in Lekki.Abati should have allowed the twin mad dogs of Fayose and Fanikayode to carry out this insulting language on Fasola. The presidency does not even deem it fit to condole with the families of the 4 policemen that were cut down while on duty on safe guarding the bridge but not as police officers for those banks that was the target of the armed robbers. The presidency is claiming to be ignorant of the fact that despite the fact that Fashola bought additional security vehicles for the police he had no control over what they do with them despite the fact that he is the security officer for his State.
ReplyDeletePDP can not win in Lagos State , one thousand Abati can claim that GEJ is now popular in Lagos state after allegedly dolling out dollar cash to the Yoruba Obas, we all know two well that the reverse is the case.May the souls of those police officers rest in perfect peace.
