Photos: Metro bus official launch by Gov. Fashola on Feb. 17th

Metro Bus, sister company to Metro Taxi and subsidary of Philly and Mools Group has just launched a Hundred Air conditioned buses to run designated routes in the Lagos Metropolis.

The launch which took place at LASTMA yard Oshodi, had the presence of the Governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Fashola, Commissioner for Transportation ,Comrade Kayode Opeifa, Niyi Oguntoyinbo, Group CEO Philly and Mools and MD of LAGBUS, Mr Babatunde Disu.

During the launch, Mr Oguntoyinbo stated that part of the innovative facilities available on the buses are access through pre-loaded cards that would generate 5,000 jobs for people living in Lagos, cameras transmitting live feeds on the go and free wifi services on the buses.

"Passengers can also send short message service) SMS to a designated number to know when the bus will arrive at their bustop, because it has been noticed that a lot of people wait at bustops unnecessarily " Oguntoyinbo said.

He added that‎ the buses had been equipped with facilities that will enable the operators see the buses in real time through CCTV cameras from the customer care centres.

According to him, there would be security camera on board to ensure safety of passengers. The live feeds from the camera will be made available to security agencies to be able to track any mishap.

‎State Governor, Babatunde Fashola) SAN described the project as a significant step in the effort to connect the nooks and crannies of Lagos via public- private driven transport network schemes. He commended the scheme and encouraged financial institutions to support the initiative.

Metro Bus plans to steadily increase the fleet to 1800 buses, serving a total of 47 routes across the state.

    1. If you must steal, steal. But do something the people can see and benefit from. Later some nuisance will come on social media cussing him out. Fashola knows Whatsup and an example of a great leader. Take it or leave it. Change is really needed at the top. Enough is enough. Abuja don't even have this and yet we have our FCT there. And you people think we have good rulers at the top? You better start thinking for your children and don't behave like your selfish fathers. It's not all about you everytime. Try and lay a good foundation so they will speak well of you when you're gone.

    8. Smh - I agree do something people can see like Lagos state. No one is refuting PDP fighting BH now but when they talk about Power, Agriculture, we know these are lies! Don't think anyone will be more evil than the correct government. They should be regarded as shameless because if they has entered sambisa forest when those girls were kidnapped they'd have found them and stopped the bloodbath that has been on going. VOTE CHANGE. SAI BUHARI!

    9. @Abisoye, if you must steal then don't contest. Don't act like you're holier than the next man who you are berating when you both are stealing. It's making a mockery of Nigerians and sending a wrong message - you can steal 50% but make sure the other 50% is used wisely. Wrong! Absolutely wrong!

We Nigerians need to stand up for what is right. We mustn't steal. We shouldn't encourage those that steal and mask it under the guise of so called 'good gestures'. Let's start from ourselves and work upwards. Each Nigerian is corrupt, from the person running a red light to the person brining police officers to those police officers collecting bribes. What then do we expect of the government?! What mentality are we taking forward?

This is no change. We should not commend theft!

I'm not a supporter of any party.

    2. Some Nigerians need to stop being gullible and ungrateful. I read comments where some morons criticized this development.. At least I have been to different countries and I've seen how people stand on the bus.. even here in Canada.. London has the best transportation system in the world, yet ppl still stand on the bus.. its no big deal and for the daft ones saying the bus will soon start getting dirty.. Come to Canada, u will correct dirty bus.. You ppl need to start appreciating good development like this. Dont die in this hatred you are in right now. And some be talking about maintainance, if you all dont mess this bus and dont destroy it.. it will run longer than expected. Govt needs your support and cooperation.
