Colonel Popoola had led a team of soldiers drafted from Jos in a battle to reclaim the cities when he was shot in the shoulder. An army source said he has been transferred from the military hospital in Adamawa to the University College Hospital Ibadan where he will receive better treatment.
Meanwhile, four commanders who reportedly deserted their troop during the reclaiming operation have been arrested. The arrested soldiers include one Lieutenant Mohammed, the QRG commander of 234 battalion; 2nd Lieutenant UC Uche, Platoon commander of Bravo Company of the 234 battalion; Captain Lawal; and Lieutenant Buraji who is Mararaba platoon commander.
The four soldiers alongside one Captain Lawan were arrested yesterday and locked up inside the military police guardroom at the 23rd Brigade in Yola Adamawa state.

ReplyDeleteThese are trying times for our military, I am sure the only time they have faced such anarchy, mayhem on home front was during the civil war!
ReplyDeleteQuick recovery. Very nice man,
ReplyDeleteAre we sure...it was boko who shot him or he shot himself as a way of living northeeast..if it is...den it worked coz he is now in ibadan....if it isn't, den more bullets 2 d guns of gallant soldiers
ReplyDeleteIn the fight against Boko Haram each time a ranking soldier leading an operation is shot in a non life threatening part of the body I'm tempted to smell a rat. A Brigade Commander shot on the shoulder in the heat of battle meaning Boko men are such bad shots that they missed his head, chest and neck? Naaah, too much convenient coincidence!
