PDP reacts to Tambawal’s defection, asks him to resign

Aminu Tambuwal became Speaker of the House of Reps on the platform of the PDP but now that he has dumped the party for APC (he officially announced his defection today), the PDP is now asking him to resign. In a statement released today, the party asked Tambuwal to do the needful...
"After a thorough consideration of the matter, the NWC (National Working Committee) came to a conclusion that the Hon. Speaker, as a responsible elected officer, knows full well what is needful and honourable of him since his new party is in the minority. We are not unmindful of the fact that Hon. Tambuwal became Speaker on the platform of the PDP as the political party with the majority of seats in the House of Representatives and that this incontrovertible fact has not changed”. the PDP said...

  27. The Speaker position is not a party position, they therefore can't get him to resign.
The law is clear, they need 2/3 majority to remove him. He might be won with the help of PDP but the position is not a patty position.

  35. has pdp forgotten that tambuwal wasn't their choice for speaker.they wanted mulikat akande and tambuwal got the votes from some pdp members added to votes from ALL other parties. Have they also forgotten that mimiko decamped to the pdp just two weeks ago whilst still a serving governor elected under the umbrella of the labor party?I like aminu.he has distinguished himself and he's liked by his peers.pdp should lay low on this.they have no say

  36. Crazy! Why does he have to resign? What happens to all the other elected officers around the country that defected from other parties to PDP? We're they asked to resign? This is why we don't get things right in this country. Pity.

    ReplyDelete
  37. No sentiment towards PDP whatsoever but in this case I agree with them.

    ReplyDelete
  38. If he resigns then let every politician that got into PDP from other parties too resign.
They should stop playing carrot and stick politics with our country.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm not surprised. He should ve expected that. Smh. Nigeria politics is so dirty. I don't care what they do with themselves, what we want are positive changes in the country. *God pls take away every bad eggs among them*

  42. PDP's Reaction for resignation of Tanbuwa is Ilractional cos Tanbuwa's defection was based on PDP crisis in sokoto state.

    ReplyDelete

  43. PDP, just like you welcome other defectors to your party without asking them to resign (Gov Mimiko being the latest), how come you want Hon Tambawal to resign?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Strongly support PDP position on this. You cannot eat your cake and have it. Do the needful Tambuwal!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. They have absolutely no moral justification to ask him to resign, a host of legislators and political appointees who decamped from their platform parties to PDP and they weren't asked to resign. I do not subscribe to this party whoring but remember when you point a finger, three points back at you.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Honorable thing is to resign and focus on the next guber elections.

    ReplyDelete
  47. This PDP self. What happen to Mimiko who defected to PDP leaving the party (labour party) that put him there? He should leave too. When a PDP member defected to other Party there would be crisis if other party defect to PDP they would celebrate. Useless sets of people calling themselves the biggest party in africa
