With the money spent on football, I can set up several fashion entrepreneurs in the world. Seriously, imagine being beaten by Congo, SMH…I am just shaking my head right now #Go Fashion. All of what football can give and more! Fashion can become the true passion of Naija! Anyone that chooses can challenge me on this; I am so ready to defend it!"

Fashion is bigger than football? That is like
saying Nigeria is bigger that the United States of America.
·
Football has been around for decades, people
just started paying attention to fashion.
·
Football unites everybody, there is no sentiment
when it comes to football
·
Mention football to people living in Sokoto or
even in the village, everyone can identify with it.
·
Who knows lanre Da Silva? But everyone know
Okocha, Kanu and the big footballers
·
It is not what Ronaldo puts on that makes people
pay attention to him, it is what goes on the field for 90mins that makes people
respect him.
·
It will take decades for fashion to meet
football

Beautiful lady
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Daniel Amokachi on this one. Football is for everyone.
ReplyDeleteAmokachi is right, his points are very valid ones....
ReplyDeleteFashion can never be the true passion of Nigerians or any country in the world. A lot of fashion trends are repitive and they just copy themselves, Secondly anybody can be a fashion designer. It takes talent, hard work and a lot of luck to be a professional footballer. It is played at the grassroots, everywhere all over the world. Football offers hope to the poor, look at the Ronaldinhos, Eto'os and Kanus of this world they all came from poor backgrounds.

ReplyDeleteSEEN @eguonoajibola@yahoo.co.uk
ReplyDeleteI love fashion and I'm a fashion designer but we all know football has come a long way. And I wonder why anyone should be comparing both. Sport is nothing like fashion, they re two different things
ReplyDeleteFootball all day! !! Fashion who??
ReplyDeleteActually football and fashion are forming a big alliance in Europe, people pay attention to Ronaldo on and off the pitch. He is a great baller and a fashion icon.

ReplyDeleteNt like I'm a fashion or football freak bt football is major cuz it has gone a long way to enhance national integration, peacekeeping and unity in the world. As for lanre...fashion is an individual thing while football is a collective effort. and as to the reason Congo defeated Nigeria 1.its a game 2.they need motivation 3.they need motivation. No one is happy to loose trust me.
ReplyDeleteFootball for life. Fashion ko, lesson ni!

ReplyDeleteHe is right not everybody cares about the fashion industry
ReplyDeleteWtf is fashion compared to football. What the hell is #Gofashion. That's gotta be the dumbest thing I ever heard. Girl don't be talking shit you don't know nada about. Football has turned lives, families and countries around and for the better. You know what, the day grown men go to a bar, order drinks just to discuss fashion then u come talk. And if any guys do that then they are fucking gay. Not that I'm homophobic or anything... I'm just pissed some prissy little chick can come and say that kinda bullcrap.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Amokachi, it will take several years before fashion can catch up with football, infact he has said it all. #Gofootball.
ReplyDeleteFootball ni sure tinz
ReplyDeleteFootball is definitely the bomb but i think they misunderstood her point. It pains when patriotic Nigerians go to viewing centres to watch the eagles play against a weaker team only to get their hopes dashed.much attention is on football which fashion never got.Just a little paradigm shift in such attention will make all the difference.
ReplyDeleteFashion gbakwa oku. #GoFootball#.

ReplyDelete#Gofootball! what is fashion??..that woman should take her time oo lol
ReplyDeleteWHAT IS FASHION ? THINGS THAT YOU WEAR OR PUT ON AS A PERSON, ABI, THAT IS THE LITERARY MEANING OF FASHION.IT CHANGES OVER A PERIOD OF TIME, IT LOSES COLOUR, IT GETS TORN ETC ETC. THERE IS NO BASIS FOR COMPARISON, FOOTBALL & FASHION LANRE SHOULD JUST GO, SIT DOWN AND SHUT UP IF HER UNDERSTANDING OF FOOTBALL IS NIGERIA VS CONGO MATCH. SHE SHOULD LOOK AT THE EPL AND HOW MANY VIEWERS ALL OVER THE WORLD AND COMPARE IT WITH HER DIRTY FASHION.
ReplyDeleteShe should take so many seats biko.favouredmoi6@gmail.com.
ReplyDeleteShe's so dumb for saying, how can u compare fashion and football...its simple,u don't like soccer,so jst leave it @ that.
ReplyDeleteI'm a lady, ain't into football but I have a club I ff which is arsenal. I love fashion like no other and would love to take a course in the Styling aspect one day but comparing fashion to football is stupid to me! I'm with Amokachi on this and I'll say, fashion and football are worlds apart. I don't deny the grwoth of Nigerian Fashion Industry with delectable designers and clothing lines like April, Toju Foyeh, Genevieve and AD. True, fashion in Nigeria has gained prominence but to come to full limelight, our celebrities has a lot to do. Patronise more of ur own than outside, that's what the people we copy did; they patronise their own. When did Angelina Jolie ever wear a Nigerian design? Sure she wears designs outside america bt fashion in america has grown and 'out-grown'; till we reach that stage, our entertainment industry shld help the fashion industry! Lanre Da Silva should go siddon n stop using american fashion as a basis! On this debate, it is #Go football!
ReplyDeleteIt's football over fashion. Even unto eternity. Lanre Da Silva Ajayi has either lost touch with reality or she's just being sarcastic.
ReplyDeletesure Amokachi is right fashion can't be compare with football. what is fashion this things kim an co wear this day! they are half naked and most pple dont want to look at them but just mention football even a sick man will jump up to watch and be happy even boko haram watch football lollol you got that Lanre Da silva! i dont even no dis women pls linda who is she? pls tell her to do her research well before saying silly things! football is far better than fashion or whatever u call it. i rest my case.
ReplyDeleteThis woman is having delusions of grandeur. Football unites a nation, but fashion is just a hobby for some and a job for others. Why is she even comparing the two?? Who does she think she is?
ReplyDeleteNonsense. I'm angry at her foolishness and ego.
Kimmy*****
Amokachi, get off your over-inflated high horse! Not everyone plays football but everyone wears clothes! Even the tribes that practice naked festivals in Africa wear clothes on regular days. The America you're referring to doesn't even rate football(soccer) as anything. They're more interested in their American football and it has nothing to do with your soccer! Fashion IS bigger than football! By the way, football doesn't bring everyone together; it just causes more strains in relationships between men and women. Go and ask the wives who can't touch the remote because the husband is hugging it throughout soccer season. That's not togetherness, that's cruel and unusual punishment!! #dropsmicwithstraightface
ReplyDeleteIs it fashion that brings everyone together? Yes we all were cloths but she is referring to runway and all that modeling stuff, which very few Nigerians pay attention to. Number 1 they are expensive 2 Nothing special, just repeating previous designs with minor changes. How many people watch or know up to 5 Nigerian designers? Even though every Tom, dick and Harry is a fashion designer in Nigeria these days
DeleteHahahahahahahahaha...... Lanre in as much as I love fashion but I dnt agree wit u on dis, Amokachi is so right. #onelovefromSnow#
ReplyDelete#GoFootball for life! lol. favourly.p@gmail.com
ReplyDeletesilver abi na lead b your name, go take se several sits u dont no wat u are talkin about.
ReplyDeleteThough am a girl, but football unites us more than fashion. Fashion can be biased for d insecure but football knows no boundaries, just play your heart out there on d pitch
ReplyDeleteplease this isn't a full acknowledgement of what she was talking about. She was referring to how much is invested in football with little return in comparison with fashion which can actually produce a lot more employment for nigerians as well as finical gains for the economy of the country. Please try any give the full story because this is out of context. I watched the interview!
ReplyDeleteHow can anybody compare fashion to football? Theyre incomparable!
ReplyDeleteHus is Lanre Da Silva? Nwa npanshi telin us bout fashion. Go do ur bleachin jareh!!!
ReplyDeleteFOOTBALL IS EVER GREEN. GO EAGLES

I would honestly wanna say fashion buh yeaa..all his points are true.. Football brings us together irrespective of what language we speak or color of our skin...
ReplyDeleteLanre Da Silva, kai haba, stop looking for cheap popularity, how can you compare football to fashion? Football all the way jor.
ReplyDeleteAmokachi is right,lauretb@yahoo.com
ReplyDelete#GofuckYourselves.
ReplyDeleteAnd who knows lanre da silva *dunno* lol . That part of amokachi's comment got me lmao
ReplyDeleteMake dat girl go sit down jare!!! ..... Even acient people without cloths recognise the Game of Football back then.... When did fashion started trailing.... Infact i dont even knw dat bitch b4..... But i knw Amokachi when i was 5yr #GOFOOTBALL

DeleteSurprise with many comments here. What is fashion it's clothing, shoe n accessory,No fashion no football. Those typing can u play football naked? Don't u see dat jersey they put on is fashion. Both good but fashion existed b4 any sport. Dan u may not k now Da silver but u know Ade bakare, adidas sports ware n co. Linda pls post pls pls.
ReplyDeletefashion bawo?
ReplyDeleteAm a woman and I think AMOKCHI is right . C.Ubochi@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteEven if am not a fan of foot ball. Amokachi is damn so so Ryt. How on earth can fashion be compared to foot ball?
ReplyDeleteGlobally, the fashion industry is worth $1.3TRILLION. Soccer is worth a measly $20billion. Her point is not to compare both but to say that if we invested as much money in fashion as we do in soccer, then the industry would be making Nigeria of money. Look at the way the world is snagging up our designers like Amaka Osakwe of Maki Oh and Bayo Oke-Lawal of Orange Culture. If more of such labels received government funding then can you just imagine how far we would be able to extend our fashion industry? What revenue does soccer generate for Nigeria? We send (mostly) uneducated touts and drop outs to train and when they are snagged up by international clubs and start earning $450,000/week, what does that do for Nigeria?
ReplyDeleteFor those saying anyone can be a designer, you clearly are ignorant. People go to university to get masters degrees in fashion design, media, marketing etc. You think it's just to buy material and sew? Fashion is not what your aunty that sews asoebi does my dear. What do you need to be a soccer player other than fancy footwork, athletic skill, and luck?
(Linda please post this as support for LDA's post).
Lol,Omokachi na betta pikin u b
ReplyDeleteI mean seriously y will dat human beans compare d fashion nd football.
Nd truth b told na 2day i jst heard abt lanre da silva..who is she self
Well they are both hyping their field but in the real sense, Football has a lot of pedigree compare to Fashion. Ask multi choice, how many fashion channels do they have compare to Supersports, ESPN,and the likes.
ReplyDeleteLol
ReplyDeleteRidiculous. Fashion has been around since Adam and Eve decided to cover their nakedness!
ReplyDeleteThank you joh! Better person!
DeleteComparing fashion to Football is like asking Elephant and Mosquito which is bigger,We Are talking About the only Language the whole world speaks,Football...

Am into fashion and design,am not a football fan,but there's no basis for comparison, fashion can never meet football. Go to Lanre Da Silver and tell her u want to learn about fashion, she will give a bill running into thousands, how can fashion grow? Make she go sleep
ReplyDeletewell the woman said the truth but its so bitter....Nigerian waste so much time n money on football...there are other industry that we can boost..together with football...ok..but Amokachi....is right anyway.....football brings all
ReplyDeleteFashion ke kwa? i am a lady and i love fashion but it is incomparable to football. Am not even into football that much but the excitments on people's face when watching match is breathtaking.imagine the last world cup, how the whole world went gaga. pls sweetheart don't ever make this kind of comparison again. Does the whole world know about all this fashion event going on in paris? all those events are basically for celebrities but "FOOTBALL IS FOR ALL".
ReplyDeleteDOES SHE KNOW WHAT SHE IS TALKING AT ALL?
ReplyDeleteThe only part she got right is the diversionary statement about Congo beating Nigeria, in football. I know people will say any team could be beaten anytime but the truth is "Congoooooo beat Nigeria?" I go go to bed again , wake up before I know wetin dey happen. Lanre, joo advertise your business. Go make money.
ReplyDeleteLanre goofed on this one o... how many people can afford her pieces but her fellow money miss road housewives... football on the other hand doesn't know class or social economic status. IT LEVELS EVERYONE...
