DSS to quiz Alimodu Sheriff over Boko Haram sponsorship allegation

The Department of State Security, DSS, says it will be inviting former Borno state governor, Alimodu Sheriff, for questioning following recent allegations leveled against him by Australian hostage negotiator, Stephen Davis, who said he's a Boko Haram sponsor.

Speaking at a news conference today in Abuja, spokesperson for DSS, Marilyn Ogar, said the former governor had in the past been invited to the DSS office for questioning over Boko Haram activities and they will be inviting him again. Ogar also dismissed insinuations that former Army chief, Lt. Gen Azubuike Ihejirika is a Boko Haram sponsor, describing it as untrue, uncharitable & wicked. Find the statement after the cut...
"I would want to say here that it is absolutely uncharitable for us as Nigerians to reward somebody who laid down his life in pursuing this same people (Boko Haram) for us to accept that he can in any way be associated with or seen sponsoring the same sect he together with this service succeeded in pulling down their activities in Kano, Okene and other parts of Nigeria to a halt and pushing them to Sambisa forest. Its the same man we want, because he is no longer in office, to say he is the one sponsoring the sect. I think its being wicked. That shouldn't be the way we reward people who lay down their lives to provide a secure environment for us. As for the former Governor, he has been invited twice by this service and the service has also invited him again" she said

  11. Are they now saying an Australian negotiator is now doing the work of our so called secret agents? Disgraceful! Like they didn't know the brains behind Boko Haram.

Jonathan doesn't have authority. The country does not need a weak President.

Obasanjo was an EVIL President but he had authority, he used his authority to do a lot of evil. Jonathan was contented being the Governor of Bayelsa State. Obasanjo paved the way for him to be the President because he felt he could control him. Jonathan never aspired to be the President of Nigeria. A man who was not prepared for the job found himself as a President. Wicked people are undermining and messing up his government because he is weak.

  27. I don't get it.... if you feel the need to quiz Sheriff and you believe its malicious that Ihejirika was named then something is mighty wrong somewhere coz they were both named by the same person. You dont just choose what feels like truth to you..... quiz both or hold Sheriff on another ground!

If he was that good, why was he sacked in January by Mr president.
We continue to act like foolish followers and that's why these leaders continue to give us two mouthed responses.

  53. ...Who is this Mrs. Oga? Why exonerated Ihijerika but indicted Sherif... Still from the same report that indicted both of them... I simply see Mrs. Oga as a politician but not a security expert at all, her actions is questionable!

  54. Niger, no matter what he has done in the past, you do not personally exonerate someone from an act until proven innocent. Even though me personally do not believe any non Muslim will ever sponsor terrorism but for the fact that u want to act on the Australian's comments, everyone he mentioned should be questioned. Common people, that is called fairness and equality before the law

  65. The same person that named alimodu also named ihejirika as sponsors of BH. If DSS says ihejirika is innocent, then the allegation against alimodu too is automatically null and void since a witness can not be said to be right and wrong in the same case. A witness is either 100% credible or totally uncredible. DSS,choose one.

  70. Typical of the scrappy system/way we have of doing things. This is the reason why a small group of street guys became even more powerful, tactical and more organized than the Nigerian government. Marilyn Ogar has automatically concluded that General Ihejirika is not a sponsor of boko haram by just guessing without any investigations. Shouldn't every one be a suspect until proven innocent?
I love Nigeria & I really have the commitment & passion to see Nigeria transform from a shithole led by he-goats to a great nation with all these potentials we have, but sometimes I just feel like giving up & running away cos the more you try,the more stupid people up there seem to become.

Aside from the obvious alternative content,I’ve spent a few weeks really reading and what these guys do research; they seem to be committed to issues that are not often talked about in mainstream media. They have also a kick ass section where they show you how to protect your privacy online and defend against these small time scammers.
So, has any one heard about this? www.netropolisng.com

  75. When I read tru the comments, I see how gullible Nigerian youth are. Otherwise how can Nigerians believe that Boko haram will easily give out the names of their sponsors . Or insurgents are as foolish as some of you here. Is it not the same Ihejirika that Ariwa Consultative Forum threatened to sue for human right abuse when he was mercilessly dealing with the insurgents and what did we do then. The Australian could just be working for boko haram in disguise.

  77. Please let us not just believe this Australian man cos of his skin colour. he is obviously not very experienced in guerrilla warfare and tactics, otherwise he will know that he is just being manipulated by boko haram and their agents. How possible is it for boko haram to name their sponsors to an Australian white man, after knowing that their hatred for anything western runs very deep. It is obvious that the Australian man is being manipulated by boko haram in a counter intelligence psychological battle, by giving him names of their enemies as their sponsors. They hate Alimodu sheriff with a passion cos he killed their leader Yusuf when he was the governor of borno state. The same Azubike ihejirika whom they accused of high handedness in squashing the boko haram menance by the northern elders, is the same man they are now trying to indict as their sponsor, since the earlier allegation of high handedness could not hold water. I think it is important that Nigerians are not misguided by any party wishing to score cheap political points

    ReplyDelete
