Ebola: Liberian doctor dies despite taking Zmapp

The National Deputy Chief Medical Doctor in Liberia, Abraham Borbor, has died from the Ebola virus disease despite taking the experimental drug, ZMapp. Late Dr. Borbor contracted the deadly virus while attending to Ebola patients at the John F. Kennedy Medical Centre in Monrovia.

Liberia's Minister of Information Lewis Brown announced his death to reporters in Monrovia this morning and said the late doctor was improving as at yesterday August 24th but suddenly took ill and died.

    1. It's not by shipping in the drugs alone.
We Africans don't have the equipments, valves, monitors to manage experimental drugs.
After giving him, do you monitor the dosage? Or the time it's taken? Or his reaction to the drugs? Or u just dump it on him like that? There are methods of using experimental drugs that can't be practiced here due to lack of infrastructure.

      Let's put it well.
Our health care system here is in shambles.
I'm not one who wants to act like an arm chair critic but look at our hospitals.

In d US,the doctors wash thier hands under water regulated by sensors(like shopryte door), just put ur hands under, it splashes.it dries 2. This is so they don't touch and infect d lid of taps. Sanitizers everywhere, you don't see blood dripping all over the floors of hospitals.

My surgeon friends informed me that here,we use bar soap n water to wash our hands b4 opening someone's stomach. Jeeez! When abroad special treatment, chemicals are provided. Even the method of wearing the glove is different.

Here in Nigeria, if ure a medical student, you realise you have not seen half of the tools you see in diagrams. Everything here has a crude alternative 2 use.

People die here for as little as drip finishing. Who still uses manual drips, its all electrically manipulated abroad.

Some people die for as little as power outages here.
Are we living the right way?
Life is of no relevance to these people up there. If not, the system would have been overturned.
The nurses taught manners and doctors taught to keep to time and be professional. I don't want to delve deeper. Everything is wrong with our health system in Africa. A look at d quarantine centre is enough 2 tell u.
But Liberia is poor, we are not.
Our politicians always feel dey can go abroad if worse comes 2 worse.
Imagine d shame of your ex president dying in a foreign hospital, ur firstlady coughs and she's run 2 Germany. Isn't it very shameful? Has the Queen ever gone to the US for check up? It's like Mr Biggs buying food from Sweet Sensation. Unheard of
He who lives in glass house shouldn't throw stones.

  62. The Question to answer now is the appropriate time or period to administer the drug Zmapp or are we missing something. The Americans shouldn't wait for this diaease to spread before providing positive info on how to eradicate this disease. RIP Doctor

  76. The americans have obviously re-engineered the Zmapp to kill.. they dont give a shit about any other person.. I'm sure they would have wanted to secretly pick up the american doctors and treat them without anyone finding out but the social medias will not allow for such secrecy..hence, they re-engineer zmapp to take life

    ReplyDelete
  77. So the same drug that saved Dr Brantly and the other American lady couldn't save him? Did they give it to him too late or what??

Africans wake the fuck up!!! Stop calling on God and being naive meanwhile there's biological warfare being waged on our people. they wanna exterminate us like they did the native Americans in north America to take over the land.

    WAKE UP!!!!!!!!

  85. It's not just enough administering this serum to an infected patient ..The patient also needs to be stabilised ..let's stop being sentimental, we can't compare the health care facilities and equipments the Americans have to that of the Liberians or other African country. Besides I do remember during an interview session with one of the doctors who treated the infected American doctor..."he said the virus damages most internal organs of its host and if this happens , chances of the infected person recovering is very bleek"....

    ReplyDelete
  86. While we are here wondering why zmapp did not save him, western commenters on their websites think that our weak medical practice is the reason why people have been dying while the 2 who they treated survived.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Ebola is a man made virus that targets melanin. It was created in the 80s by a South African scientist. Zmapp and all these other drugs will not work on Africans.
We need to turn away from our sins, repent and seek God as a collective.
