Sources within the university say the 38 year old law lecturer killed himself in his apartment within the town on Saturday July 19th but his body was only discovered on Sunday July 20th.

On a more serious note, until Nigerians learn not to stigmatise mental health issues, then more people will be left with no choice than to engage in Suicide.
Most people are afraid to seek the much needed help they need.
      RIp Mr Lecturer.

    3. Thanks Banario for your intelligent comment . Bede is someone I ve known from childhood. He can't hurt a fly. He didn't commit any suicide . Its all planned n frame up . How can a guy @ 38 a Phd holder(Uk) , have everything going well for him commit suicide? For every body's info , his colleagues within the faculty shd tell us what happened to Bede ! God will surely expose whoever did this soonest ! Nigeria ve lost a genius . Bede , may your gentle soul continue to rest with the Lord .

  8. There are people who don't have a
Bible, but when you visit their home
you find loads of books: "awake",
"watch tower". Do you know where
these books come from? If you have
books such as "watch tower", "awake"
of Jehovah Witness, bring them to the
church so that we pray for you and
burn them. It is satanic! This sect of
Jehovah Witness is not a church of
Jesus Christ. The first sign to
recognize a church of satan is this:
any church that denies the divinity of
Jesus is from satan. Even the devil
himself knows that Jesus is God!
Whether the Jehovah witnesses like it
or not, Jesus is God and will remain
    God! Amen!

  56. Bede just bought his dad a brand new jeep. The day he died, he gave his sister money to go to market and buy things for food. Even the lecture note he was making was still on his table when he was found dead. The sister was so mad cos she came back from market to make food for the brother just to find him dead. To her, nothing in his xter suggested that he was going to kill himself. He even wrote a book that is to be published in US soon. A particular lecturer in UK offered to sponsor the book. What could have gone wrong or was he murdered?

  77. Yes . Bede committed suicide , without a suicide note. He was a class mate , very humble , calm , intelligent, but in recent years , he became aloof . But his decision to take away his life , is what I cannot understand . A doctorate degree holder in law , from a uk , university , a lecturer ,his hobby has always been to read and research , as i always argue with him on some topics . Well , Bede . R.I.P i wish you never did this .

    ReplyDelete
  78. Bede Opata was definitely murdered & may be they made it look like he murdered himself. He is such a harmless person who can not hurt a fly. He is a very kind hearted guy who could do anything to see others happy. He had a lot going for him.

    ReplyDelete
  79. @ Iyk how did you know he was aloof. May be he you had issues with him. Please watch your mouth. The Bede Opata I saw on thursday was very vibrant, cheerful & happy. He told me about his articles that were published. He also talked about his new book in the market. He said he might be going to DC in US to give a lecture. He made lots of progress from the last time I saw him which was 2 months ago. He finally told me about the lady He may settle down with. So how can somebody totally focused & had a lot going well for him kill himself. May be somebody killed him & made it look like he killed himself. Everything is possible in Nigeria.

  81. Getting to a year now, no news of what happened to Bede, no details from security operatives. Is there a cover up? Can the university management especially law faculty and his family tell us any thing, What a great soul lost. The exist of a rare gem. Nsukka Zone has lost the only academic doctor in international law. What a shame
