FG should apologize to Boko Haram for killing their leader - Bakare says

Popular Lagos pastor and Convener of the Save Nigeria Group, Pastor Tunde Bakare says one of the ways to end the spate of attacks by terror group, Boko Haram in Nigeria, is for the Federal Govt of Nigeria to apologize to the sect members for killing their leader, Mohammed Yusuf in 2009.

According to Vanguard, he gave the advise during the state of the nation address at a church service in Lagos.
"The summary execution of the Boko Haram’s former leader, Mohammed Yusuf in 2009 provided the soil of martyrdom for the nurture and growth of the sect. Government must declare peace first of all; apologizing for the murder of Mohammed Yusuf to the sect members not their sympathizers or bandits.” he said
On the attack on Buhari last Wednesday in Kano, Pastor Bakare said "But for the timely intervention of God, last week’s assassination attempt on General Buhari might have marked the beginning of the end for Nigeria if it had succeeded. We will not also ignore the fact that at the root of the escalation of the Boko Haram crisis was oppression and injustice".

  134. From the comments I read on a lot of the posts on this blog, I infer that a very large proportion of Nigerians are ignorant. For a person to address one of the root causes of the BH insurgency, the reason why many of its adherents believe they are called to be "martyrs", that person automatically becomes a "sponsor" or at least sympathetic to the terrorist cause. Just looking at the number of praises and glorifying comments which follow GEJ's posts on fb, (all of which cannot be sponsored) I wonder whether I live in the same country as these people, whether they also experience the epileptic power supply, the terrible roads, unemployment, bleak future. I wonder if they are so willing to sell their right to a better life. But the Ekiti people did it without batting an eyelid, so I wouldn't be surprised. The stance of the US is NOT TO NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORIST GROUPS. But are we as strong militarily as the US? Blood is being shed daily. Is it not owed of us to explore all means of stopping this menace?? Including means that make it less glorifying to join their ranks? I believe the Pastor is trying to address the root causes of the problem, and see if by correcting those wrongs we can thin their ranks. Before we jump to castigate people we should try to understand their meaning.

  169. Bakare has moved from smoking weed to cocaine. If the federal government should apologise to Boko Haram for killing it's leader. Who in the Boko Haram sect will take the responsibility of apologising to Nigerians for all the innocent women, men and children that have been killed by their senseless acts. Bakare is speaking because Nigerians did not vote for him. He should think before speaking because many people have lost their loved ones and his political selfishness is not allowing him reason beyond his personal gains. Speaking of men who give a bad name to the church. It is only 'Christians' that will take the side of those who are killing their fellow Christians. We did not see any effort on the part of our Muslim brothers in talking against all the mayhem this group has caused until the international community took up the bring back our girls issue. And even at that they said as little as possible. Soldiers on peace keeping are being slaughtered lime animals and the only thing this man could come up with is that the federal government should apologise to terrorists. No wonder Nigerians did not vote him or his party of terrorists in to power. And by the way Buhari alone can explain why he was caught in a bomb blast in a bullet proof car. Wicked people using the lives of hard working innocent Nigerians to play politics.

  175. And i ask, Oppression and injustice caused by whom? The non-Muslims they are killing or their own leaders who have refused to be committed to their growth over the years? No other region in this country has been as privileged as the North; they have had the most presidents/heads of states, they have representation in every important office in the country, they do not produce oil, yet they are given priority in the oil distribution. If there is anyone who is to blame for their backwardness, it is themselves and the religion and if they really want to hang it on someone terming it oppression and injustice, then it is their brothers and sisters who have used power given to them to enrich themselves. So, no, it is not GEJ or the many innocent lives they have wasted that is to blame!

  177. In my opinion, i think the fearless man of God whom i have so much respect for - Pastor Tunde Bakare, got it wrong this time. The 2009 ideology of the then Boko Haram was more like a Religious one, different from that of the present day Boko Haram, this ones are more like Armed Militants ready to carry out any kind of peril/menace to the Society, from Stealing to Raping, Robbery, Kidnapping, Thuggery and Terror

  182. Go and read Abuja Declaration 1989. Their plan is to islamize the whole country. They are already in lagos and once they start to tear down lagos,it won't be funny at all. All these big people will take d next available flight out of the country and leave the rest people to their fate.

If a whole turkey,a place where christianity started can't be taken over by the muslims,is it Nigeria that they won't take over?

God has spoken and the christian leaders of this country all have to come together to stop this menace, else on judgement day, they will have the hottest part of hell.........

You do not understand the spirit behind Islam, now they are beginning to do everything christians does. So once they wipe out christianity, they'll say there no difference.

Rather than saying the FG shud apologise,as a leader of a flock,yu have thousands of souls that yu'll account for on d last day,so put all your differences aside and all pastors, bishops, etc in nigeria should come together and fight this fight. Boko haram fight isn't just against nigeria but christianity.........
Boko haram have thousands of sponsors, they have billions of dollars to fuel their course, but what do we christians have?
We don't even focus on christ anymore,we can't even stand ourselves, let alone work together...........

We shouldn't take things for granted, God warned turkey but they didn't listen. He's warning us too and if we pay no mind, same fate awaits us all.

Let those who have ears, let them listen...............

    Happy holiday............
