The members suggested the creation of a state for the South-East geopolitical zone which has only 5 states in order to bring the number to 6 which is the number of states of other zones, apart from the North -West, which has seven. Continue...
Some of the proposed states approved by the Confab are Apa from Benue State, Kainji from Kebbi, Katagum from Bauchi, Savannah from Borno, Amana from Adamawa, Gurara from Kaduna, Ghari from Kano, Etiti from South East, Aba from Abia, Adada from Enugu, Njaba-Anim from Anambra and Imo, Anioma from Delta State, Orashi from Rivers State, Ogoja from Cross River State, IJebu from Ogun State and New Oyo State from the present Oyo State.
The Conference is to later determine the names of the remaining two other states and their capitals, which are to be created in the South-South and South West zones. If approved by the Presidency, the number of states in the Country would now be 54.
The
conference members also voted for the rotation of the Presidency
between the North and South and also between the geo-political zones.
They also voted against the immediate swearing-in of a Vice President
into the office of the President should a sitting President die in
office or be impeached.
They proposed that a Vice President should be
sworn in as Acting President for 90days within which a fresh election
for a new President should be held.
The delegates also agreed that the old national anthem, “Nigeria we hail thee…” should be replaced with the current one.
Nt bad. Nice1

ReplyDeleteThese people are senile. Where will the funding for these states come from? What are these new states going to produce to survive? They will continue the usual practice of going to Abuja for income. What a joke. This conference is a jamboree!
ReplyDeleteI support u de a jokers doin wt we dnt need
DeleteSome really stupid and selfish recommendations here. What will be the autonomous economic viability of many of these proposed states? Just another avenue for some miscreants to collect monthly allocation and put in their pockets. Naija has a really long way to go. Smh

ReplyDeleteSecondly, I don't know if the creation of 18 extra states is ridiculous but I support the part where a vice president should be an acting president.
Young girl! Lol. That line is from the old national anthem which I thought had already been replaced by the current one. So why r they talking about replacing it again?
DeleteCreating states out of a STATE that has desolved into a state of animalism is not the panacea to our problem...Pls Nigerian leaders THINK....you cannot give what you don't have..Esqnoj

ReplyDeleteRotation of presidency is crappy. It does not support one Nigeria. What happened to merit?
ReplyDeleteIf rotation is imbibed it means when its the north's time, the president will rule to favor only the north and the when it is south's time he will rule only to favor the south.

DeleteNigeria doesn't need the creation of new states. We haven't finished taking care of the 36 we have and these greedy selfish lot are screaming create more! If you look closely you'd see those that want new states are making noise out of their own selfishness! They all want "state budget"! Whether your state is productive (useful) or not! You know you're entitled to a budget! If Nigeria operated a generate your own funds system, things will be oh so different. You know that whatever money you have to spend is coming from your land, Not waiting for oil money from the south to take care of those in Benue state! Nobody (except the southerners) will be screaming state creation! I just think it's a stupid idea and not what Nigeria needs today.

No i vote against creation of more states. Like seriously if we have 54 states, they next thin they will want to do is separate Nigeria, i am not in support. As for the vice president case is none of my business, maybe they are right because a vice may decide to eliminate d president so he can take over
ReplyDeleteAnioma state at last.God is great
ReplyDeleteAnioma should be in SE and not SS when created.

ReplyDeleteCan someone whisper to these gentlemen and women that Nigeria's problems go beyond creation of more states and changing the National anthem? They are earning 14 million naira each for coming up trivialities like these? smh
ReplyDeleteAre these old people high on cheap drugs????????? 16 new states for what? When the 36 states are yet to be managed properly particularly in the aspect of security and poverty.
ReplyDeleteCreating new states and replacing the present national anthem with the old one solves nothing, it doesn't bring progress either.
Abeg make them park well!!! Issue of security is the most pressing matter they should be deliberating on instead they are focusing on stupid things.

ReplyDeleteBut will additional states mean improved quality of life for the people or just more people at the helm of affairs stealing the nation blind? Again, can someone please tell us what the role of the local councils really is? As long as states have no or low IGR, its complete bollocks and a real sham!

ReplyDeleteI call this reasoning from the Anus. Problems abounds to be solved in the country which needs urgent attention such as insecurity and poverty. These are mere roadmaps to enriching the already rich individuals.
ReplyDeletedis countryz extremely confused...is dat their priority?....aw big is nigeria da we ll be having 54 states ehn?....dis retardz in the confab dont no wat de re doin....arent der more pressing matters to discuss?..wat about chibok and the insurgency in the north?...is it more states we re looking for?...GOD dis country isnt moving foward at all.......
ReplyDeleteWe just need one state if possible and that's in south East, Adada or Anioma state. Apart from that the rest na foolishness!! ~Onahboy
ReplyDeleteWe couldn't manage 36 states na 54 we go come manage..una no serious!
ReplyDeleteNice one more development and job creation
ReplyDeleteIs this what we have spent so many Millions for? Nonsense! Creating new states would solve our problems and bringing back the old anthem? God, why did you give us such clueless people?
ReplyDeleteHave they thought about the more political fights that would ensue with more states? Or more money to waste by new governors? Was Nigeria not a better country when we had fewer states? Na wa o.

ReplyDeleteI laugh nigeria...
DeleteThis is not what is needed in Nigeria at the moment. The cost of establishing these states will cost Nigeria billions. The era of state creation has passed. If at all states should be created; it should be only 5.
ReplyDeletekenechukwuosuji@ymail.com
Govt cant handle 36 states, now deliberatin on anoda 16 states, dere is God,corruption no go get part, naija go come broke(which will b claimed by d govt).God dey.
ReplyDeleteNigeria's problem as always been and would always be, the crop of clueless and self-serving leaders. Creating even 100 new states won't solve that!
ReplyDeletenice one at least maybe we can work better in our diversity
ReplyDeleteMiss Linda, just want to comment on ur good work. He who gives never lack, may God grant u all ur heart desires.
ReplyDeleteHebrew 9 vs 27.
Omg!!! Are dis pple kidding me? Are we trying to copy a developed country such as the US, which has all the amenities for its people? Common road in abia cnt be completed and we are here creating another state frm an already existing one. What happens to the project already laid on ground?........... our present Govt would not seize to stop amazing me......... ( is dis d way forward Aunty linda)!
ReplyDeleteKeep dividing us and our unity
ReplyDeleteCreation of a new state in d south east is ok but 18 more states? If u ask them now how they justify this, they will say USA & other foreign democracies yet they wont copy those other nations when it comes to other issues like being paid allowances in d assembly. They prefer their bloated salary!
ReplyDeleteWhich way, Nigeria? More states? why not remain the way we are and then create more local Government areas and disburse money adequately for development in those areas. Anyways they have decided already, lets just hope its for the better, because my opinion might not or will not count. Nigeria we hail thee!
ReplyDeleteCreation of more states will only increase the cost of Governance in Nigeria. Clueless Old men and women with no vision for the country.
ReplyDeleteThis is rubbish d 36 states in Nigeria has no good infrastructures creatin new states means anoda huge source of embezzlement of funds
ReplyDeleteI don't support the creation of such number of states. But geopolitical zones should have equal number of states. A situation where south east has only five states and the north west seven states is very bad. I don't the criteria the creators used in creating the states whether population or land mass. I think they should create two more states in the south east and one more in the other geopolitical zones excluding the north west in other to correct the imbalance. What we need now I think is more local governments so as to bring government closer to the people and possibly bring the dividends of democracy down to the grassroots if the dividends wouldn't be hijacked.
ReplyDeleteInstead of recommending the creation of more local government areas so as to ensure efficient distribution of resources and governance, these confab members are coming up with all sorts of ideas that will inevitably lead to bankruptcy and other catastrophic events.
ReplyDeleteTill then lets watch and see
ReplyDeleteNa them sabi joor.. dem knw wetin dem dey find..
ReplyDeleteC.E.O
Absolute rubbish! Arrant nonsense! That is not the solution, we need to be united not creating more division, as for the presidency, if we revitalize our democracy, there wouldn't be any need to rotate, it would come to those who rightly deserve it.
ReplyDeleteThe creation of states is to ensure grassroot development and well represented in the country. For instance Kogi state, and some eastern part esp Aba where we have billion investments going on but don't have basic social amenities.
ReplyDeleteI also support the rotation of presidency amongst regions (only wish the tenure will be limited to 4years with outstanding performance if not properly executed will bring about impeachment) and swearing in of acting president upon death of the president.
I only wish that security will be seriously harnessed just like developed countries. The Issue of Boko haram should be tackled once and for all.
Ola
That's good......Am impressed, especially the presidential rotation. This will stop the unnecessary struggle for power when you know its not going to your region. I hope they implement this.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Why do I find this funny?
ReplyDeleteTHis really cool
ReplyDeleted issue on ground is not all creating a new state...is it shud b abt rejuvenating the existing state...by creating modalities that will facilitate a peaceful and a problem free Nigerian wer foreign and indigenous investor can invest upon 2 help build up our national economy...ALMIGHTY GOD HELP US...Which way Nigeria....
ReplyDeleteNew States ? No no no. Means more more to be spent. More governors, mores senators, more house of reps more, LGA Chairman, more more more. More security vote, more budget to be spent on elections, more expenses for the government who is not ready to tighten her belt.
ReplyDeleteThere will never be a huge capital project. Since the creation in previous era, there are no new long bridges (since 3rd Mainland, ontisha bridge etc)
Government will only be sharing funds to people who will enrich themselves and share bag on rice to for your votes.
Rotation of president is nonsense. What happens to Merit? It will breed more separation than one Nigeria. Because at each region's turn the President will rule to favor his people only since its their turn.
The vice president aspect as acting president is ok.
This time post my comment
OMG So, our leaders are this daft..... See as boko haram dey kill people every day, 'em no talk that one na to change anthem be their headache oo.... Chai!!! This is just answer to our problem. "Bad governance"
ReplyDeleteCan say m ashamed of my nation(nigeria) but I'm so disappointed #God help us
I actually thought they would have recommended 774 states for each of the current local government areas so that each village then becomes the new LGAs in the new structure
ReplyDeleteI believe with this everyone will be satisfied and the agitation for more states will die completely.
...so are we still counting...718 more states still need to be announced. I can recommend names.
What rubbish is New Oyo State? Ibadan State is long overdue. Abegee! These politicians are callous Confab bench warmers.
ReplyDeleteAs nice as creating new states sounds, we need the CONFAB to look into how states would be encouraged or compelled to generate funds needed to run states else we would have states waiting on pocket money from "Daddy" FG to exist.
ReplyDeleteMost of our states cannot self-sustain.
How does dz solve d insecurity we r facing in d country??? Kudos2k2@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteIts obvois dese pple re just wastin time n money der, y d xtra states? D one wey dey aredy, dem don do am well? I'd rada dey reverse to regions as b4, nortern region, western region, southern region and eastern region mak peace reign..coz more statees more palava. #bela#

ReplyDeleteNo nah d states 2plenty abeg and that new election thingy na rubbish o.... Xcept they want 2put a target on our presidents. I agree 2d presidency rotation
ReplyDeleteIs that what Nigeria needs at the moment...c all dese mugusssssss..so all dese men gather in one place and this is all they could come up wit...smh
ReplyDeleteWhy new Oyo State. The new state to be created from the present Oyo should be Ibadan State , Period
ReplyDeleteWith all the serious issues the country is facing, this is not the time to be discussing additional states when many of the states cannot sustain themselves without the slice of the federal cake. It is about good governorship and individuals helping to make this feasible by doing their bit in the form of paying taxes. I know this is a new and unheard concept to many Nigerians who think the govt is a bottomless pit who has money to pay for everything without their own contributions.
ReplyDeleteRubbish! We already have more than enough.
ReplyDeleteIt is quite obvious these people have no important thing to deliberate on.These motherfuckers are just wining away d time and paid milions for all these nonsense.

Abeg, tell dis people to solve our most pressing issues and stop looking for ways to extort money from other poor Nigerians.....every citizen in Nigeria would soon join politics....common sense is not common indeed.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely retarded!!!! 18 new states?? Whatnthe bloody hell for? The 36 we already have is too much. And going back to an old national anthem? What type of useless recommendations are these? How does any of this contribute to job creation? It doesnt. Safety? No. Better government? At all. Power? Haha nope. Nothing tangible for the everyday person in this. However their friends now have 18 new avenues for corruption! The stupidity with which this country is being led is astonishing. It is a global embarrassment that FIFA has to threaten to ban us bc the stupid ministersfired those in charge and want to put their own boys to chop! How can a country less than the size of the state of texas be proposing to have 52 states?? Thst is more than the entire USA has! Canada the second largest country in the world has 13. Russia, China the largest countries all have fewer than 50 and out tiny country wants to split 18 more staes? I pray the time for leaders with common sense comes in 2015. We the youth need to stand up and refuse to let our country be bled dry and run into the ground. If we dont have change for the better in 2015 im buyin my one way ticket back to America
ReplyDeleteVery disappointing... 52yrs later after independence and these so called elders that want to control the country still dont know how Nigeria should be governed or its problem solved... 18 more states what joke
ReplyDeleteAw politician r shallow minded or dey speak cos of d benefit dey would derive, cos creating more state is not necessary except dose state will generate fund 4 demselves cos all state can depend on d govt n not wit dis present govt n politicians. d way forward is to make all state generate fund demselves n not depend in federal allocation only if pressing issues set in n just a few times 4 dose dat don't av much. dis country is blessed wit natural resources let try n make judicious use of it n develop aw state n let federal govt benefit from d state n work in federal matters n security issues cos all state av natural resources but need to develop on it, as for rotating president it's a foolish move cos we need some1 wit merit n competent not from geo region cos dat like wanting to separate us cos we r too self centered, selfish n an extremist n 4 vp issue dat alright. we need a slogan like God help nigeria. Thanks
