Bomb scare in Osun state, police say it was a dynamite

Pandemonium broke out this morning in the More area of Ile Ife, Osun state after a loud explosion erupted from a dynamite planted by unknown people within the area.

The state Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Maishanu, while confirming the incident, stated that the explosive was a dynamite and not a bomb as earlier speculated by residents of the area. He said other dynamites planted in the area were also detonated by police anti bomb squad who arrived the scene immediately. He stated there was no casualty from the explosion and no property was destroyed.
"It was a dynamite of a low calibre and it was placed in an area where it cannot hurt anyone or damage property. When the first one exploded, police bomb unit went to the site and the second one was found at the same location and it was detonated by our anti-bomb squad,” Mr. Maishanu said.
Media aide to the state governor, Semiu Okanlawon, who also confirmed the incident, said that the explosive was planted close to the family home of the state's commissioner for tourism, Shikiru Ayedun.

I sensed lies in d two statements..policy said " d dynamite was place in an area where it will not not hurt somebody or destroy property" while Governor's media aide said " it was placed near commissioner's family house.".. Which one do we believe...Nigerians r no more what u guys think so learn how to address us with truth ...take note Police and other related agencies.. Meanwhile it is not bomb

  10. I believe this is a Practice run, the idiots are practicing with a lesser explosive. The people of that state and the police should do all they can to find the culprits and treat them like Boko Haram people even if they are not. Use them as examples when they are caught.

  12. Whether it is a 'knock-out' or a Christmas banger, my candid advice to anybody residing in Osun state or any part of Nigeria is to be security conscious. Nigeria is having her trying time now, but I am certain it would pass.

The words of Shettima are really beginning to play out almost before they left his mouth. Yes we can see how that the Islamic fundamentalist group has began to take their terror to other parts of the country while up scaling their vehemence in the north. The security forces will continue trying to play down on this fact in an effort not to create an impression of the obvious but the discerning mind already understands the magnitude of the challenge we face. May God keep us safe.

  35. When you use the word "detonate" instead of the word "defuse" you confuse your hearers the more. Media always awash with this bad usage. Detonate means to cause to explode while defuse suggests disarming an incendiary device.
