University of Port Harcourt students yesterday took to the streets to protest the recent hike in their school fees. The students engaged the police but there was no violence and no one was injured. The students vowed to continue protesting everyday until something is done about the fees. See more pics after the cut...
Please government listen to their plea o! The voice of the people is the voice of God

ReplyDeleteThat ajienka is just MAD. Ever since he became our VC every year our school fees is increased. To think uniben students pay less than 20k. Uniport students are not even allowed to stay in the hostel, we have to go outside school paying rents of over 160k for house rent. We still transport our selves into school everymorning to learn in classrooms that lack basic amenities. No public address systems, licking roofs, no teaching materials etc. We students still make provisions for all these and pay class dues. Even the year 1 students that stay in the school hostels complain of zero maintenance, no renovations and our school fees are always on the increase. Even light is an issue. Despite all these, even the security is a BIG ZERO. Students are constantly been robbed and rapped and nothing is been done about it. All what they care about is to drain us till There's nothing left in us. How can Nigeria go forward with all this wickedness.
ReplyDeleteAll they knw abt is money money and money. Educational standard na rum
ReplyDeleteIts time you all realize that the cost of education has gone up all over the world; they are increasing it to 70k some of the students use phones and gadgets that are more expensive than that and would join the ptotest. The way you have been getting money to buy those expensive phones and gadgets use it to pay your school fees if you value your education. The so called developed countries we look up to, a lot of people are still paying for their university education 10 years 20 years after graduation. If u know the value of what you have ; you would accept it. No need to ptotest over simple things; three quarter of them that are protesting wont go to class and would still sort Lecturers at the end.
ReplyDeleteAmechi is taking there money to the north to install an emir
ReplyDeleteUniport VC is fond of that,he increases sch fee every session,it is getting out of hand. For crying out loud,it is a federal sch something have to be done about it.
ReplyDeletePls govt should listen to students. . Dey are d leaders of tomorrow
ReplyDeleteAfter d asuu strike, Uniport neva loved us. We'll pay, we r already laggn behind #no choice
ReplyDeleteEver sinz dis present VC Ajienka Joseph took over power, tyns hv rly bn bad.1stly small money ws added 2 skul fees,2ndly accomodation fee ws increasd 4rm 2090naira to 19900 yet dia r no renovations w@ so eva. Ð hostels r in shambles, lack ð basic amenities. Ryt nw yr1 students ð@ stay in Dan Etete hostel haf bn askd to pak out 4 Sports ppl 2 stay(dis has bn goin on sinz). Nw dia's increase in skul fees more dan 100%,dia r no facilities, clazrooms.Accomodation fee ws made compulsory for yr1ppl n it ws made insuch a way ð@ u wud haf 2 hang @ smpt in ur registration if u dnt pay dis fees yet no hostel space 4 dem.Medical students lack ð basic tyns4 accreditation.Wen acrreditation council cms nw de*medical authorities* will b askin us to tell lies concernin ð welfare of ð ppl.tyns r rly detoriatin, infact cnt wait to graduate
ReplyDeleteWhy is this issue of fees hike taking centre stage at this point? It's unfortunate and sad.
ReplyDeleteWeda na joshep or joseph abi jonathan God go punish u ooo we still d complain of d hostel accomodation wey no reach every year one student dat u made it compulsory for u dy add money for d skul fees u for collect 300k make we knw say we dy convenant n as for u mr persident stop jorpadizin our future while playin politics all apc states u dy punish no dy affect ur rivals if u want to fight dem meet dem man to man don't use nigerian students as ur weapon of war . Eeeeh shey u hear wen ur wife said dia z God u think say na joke she crack me na only me waka cum write diz comment ooo . N u linda no carry am cook breakfast ooo
ReplyDeleteNija which way government should do d right thing now b4 it's too late I smell trouble
ReplyDeleteIn abroad, things are done with genuine reasons and purpose. Increase in school fees abroad means high education standard and conducive learning atmosphere and more importantly it is done in consultation with all those involved in the education sector. But here in Nigeria the reverse is the case...they are all educated tyrants......they do things with no reasons and purpose...school fees increment means impoverished standard of education...no light, electricity, hostels, basic learning material, security and to crown it all no hope job after graduation from school. As a former uniport student I do not understand the sole mission of Ajienka in Uniport...his policies are anti-students...God bless Unique Uniport
ReplyDeleteHike in price in all APC state na so we go dei dey. Hike price does it change quality of education. Hike in price does it affect increase in standard of graduants. There should be a balance to show the students why U̶̲̥̅̊ want to increase the fee.
ReplyDeleteif u don't have anything to say, shut up rather than talking rubbish bcos u want to comment on an issue. have u ever worked for money
ReplyDeleteLinda, dis people wnts to finish us oh....lodge rent in ph has massively increased,nw d sch fee.....we no go gree....FRANKISE SAID SO
ReplyDeleteUniLag APC state, UniPort APC state, Boko Haram,Borno state.. is Well oo
ReplyDeleteHmmm everything is so complicated, the mistakes started when New (year1) students sch fee, acceptance fee and accommodation fee were increased no old student protest over it, all of them went asleep even the so called SUG Executives. Now it has bounce back to them (old student), please u pple should try and pay this time around, for the sake of academic programme
ReplyDeletebecause it is affecting year 1 students. Moreso,Uniport Academic and Non Academic Staff should please plead on behalf of we students.
