Stephanie Uche's father & UNIPORT professor dies in hotel room in Delta state

The father of ex-beauty queen Stephanie Oforka Uche and professor of the Department of Chemistry at the University of Port Harcourt, Prof N.C Oforka was found dead in his hotel room in Delta State.

According to some of his students, Professor Oforka had gone to Delta state to finalize a teaching agreement with the Petroleum Training Institute PTI in Efurun when he died.

The official cause of death has not been revealed but foul play is not suspected. Some believe he died from a heart failure because he hadn't been feeling well before he embarked on the journey. May his soul rest in peace...amen.

His story of his grandmother cuting yams in tiny bits to illustrate the effect of surface area on the rate of chemical reaction is one i cant forget. He made us laugh when he replied those who didnt understand after he had repeatedly explained, saying "am sorry, there's no other way i can explain, its unfortunate that we cant translate these chemistry books to your native language so u can understand them". He impacted on the lives of people, and am proud to be one of them. RIP

    Oforka is dead. I remember you terrorizing me, l had to take one resit exam because of you. Then when l came to take the exam, you stopped in front of my desk and laughed your head off. You asked me If I thought I'd pass this time around. That was God speaking. I immediately asked John 0. the Invigilator for a new exam booklet. l needed only 40% to pass. 1 answered Akpan's section only. l finally passed Phys Chem without succumbing to your overtures. l had a D but God had taken me away from your clutches . Weare not supposed to speak in Of the dead but your legacy lived with me. l had to redo chemistry in the US because l looked like l had no brains thx to you and others. l hope God feeds you a video of your legacy.I am excelling. I got a shiny A in P- CheM In the USA without much ado and 1 am proud of what I have become - a star in my field. Now you Can answer to Jesus my father. l Cant Say RIP cos I will be lying.

    He was my favourite lecturer... I will surely miss him, his jokes while teaching, he was very lovely, a grand pa... His experience in teaching is amazing, Uniport , madonna university and the rest will surely miss an icon, a father..     Prof. Nick Oforka is Stephanie Uche Kalu dad, Uche Kalu's wife, so start thinking aright @just don't think he's Stephanie's dad. To some of you writing rubbish for comments sake pls stop it, if u don't knw anything about anybody its not compulsory that you must comment. There's no award for it. The Late Prof taught me all thru my 4yrs in Uniport, his wife is late and yet he stayed unmarried for more than 18yrs even after so much pressure for him to remarry. Am still in shock!!!!!!     Prof Oforka was a very intelligent and funny man . He taught me chm 130,131 and 240 . I remember his jokes and experiences he used to share with us just to keep his 2hrs lecture at mba 1 or 2 lively ....and his exams wia so technical that u av to b extra smart to scale thru . The faculty of chemistry and the college of engineering in uniport will never forget u sir . It was a privilege learning chemistry under you. RIP prof Oforka

    The Late Prof. Oforka was to undergo his sabactican at Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE) and NOT PTI.
