Pictures show President Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo and PDP Chairman Adamu Muazu toasting to PDP's victory in Ekiti state. Also present were some members of the National Working Committee of the PDP.  See more photos after the cut...

President Jonathan congratulates Fayose

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan heartily congratulates the Governor-Elect of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on his overwhelming victory in Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

President Jonathan also commends the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Security Services and the good people of Ekiti State for the successful and peaceful conduct of the elections in keeping with the present administration’s avowed commitment to ensuring that elections in all parts of Nigeria are progressively freer, fairer and more credible.

As Mr. Fayose readies himself to assume office in fulfillment of the clearly expressed wish of his people, President Jonathan urges him to be humble and magnanimous in victory and commit himself to forming an administration that will work for the advancement of the interests of all Ekiti people irrespective of their political affiliations or loyalties.

President Jonathan calls on Mr. Fayose to regard his second chance to serve as Governor of Ekiti State as a sacred mandate from God Almighty and his people which he must discharge with immense dedication, wisdom and vigour to achieve a much more rapid pace of socio-economic development in Ekiti State for the benefit of its people who resoundingly reaffirmed their trust in his leadership by voting overwhelmingly for his election yesterday.

The President assures Mr. Fayose that the Federal Government will give all necessary support and assistance to his incoming administration and cooperate fully with him in furtherance of the present administration’s objective of significantly improving the living conditions of Nigerians in all parts of the country.

He wishes Mr. Fayose continued good health and a very successful second tenure as governor of Ekiti State.

  5. Nigerians need to just wake up. To me, this is a toast of taking over a state and acquiring billions in the said state. I don't think a sane human being would make a toast cos he wants to wholeheartedly improve the lives of people or develop a state. Innocent kids are missing and u are jubilating over a state election victory. Do people not have care and human feelings anymore? As in how did we get here? When are we going to wake up and do the right things? It's so sad. Thousand of soldiers cos of an election of 400 thousand people and the same thousands of soldiers couldn't be sent to rescue those poor kids abducted? This country is a huge joke.

  15. Yes its worth celebrating. APC are just bunch of noise makers, who does nothing other than dance on cameras and insult the president. How would a state governor exibit cowardics by sweeping the street because the president visited the state. Kwankwaso started that nonsence, but u were the first to get the blow below the belt. Sorry next time you have to realise that politics of bitterness can never fetch you anything. We will soon see the last of Nyako and kwankwaso. The 'clueless president' is very smart aferall.

  16. Mr 10:04. When are we going stop criticising Jonathan over d missing girls. When are we going to stop blaming Jonathan over inherited problems. Or are u telling me it's bad to celebrate someone's victory whose electorates came from thesame political platform as Mr. President? If u can't criticise constructively then why should u aired what's not related to the subject matter? U have a point but air ur point when necessary than making someone else victory a mockery. Peace.

  27. Hmmm, its well with nigeria.
I wonder why the champagne popping if truely the victory is call to service. Ekiti people sold the conscience and 4 years future for bags of expired imported taiwan rice. Will he keep sharing rice like he did b4 election? God saved the south west from PDP aand here we are again voluntarily brought PDP back. The celebration is only for the hope that PDP will get back its lost seats and to get more hope for presidential victory next year. We nigerians seem to forget the past easily. 400 thousand solidiers just for a state election, why GEJ send just a 100 thousand soldiers to bringbackourgirls?
Sharp man Fayose, God is watching.

  29. I want to congratulate Ayo Fayose on this resounding electoral victory for a man that left office 8 years ago to come back and win an incumbent governor in a grand style winning the entire 16 LGA's I say congrats. I will extend the same congratulations to the biggest and the largest political party in African PDP for reclaiming their stolen mandate while I congratulate GEJ for a job well done. Osun people earnestly wait the election of Omisore come August 2014 as Rauf Aregbesola will be shown the way out of govt home. The Umbrella Revolution has just begun in south west. Good bye to Agrrieved Peoples Congress (APC)

  30. To the FOOL that think EKITI people dont know what they re doing....hey listen Good we are called the fountain of Knowledge and we still retain that standard all over Nigeria...Fayemi lies to us upon his exposure he cant even build a Bridge he never construct just one sch and EKITI people dont vot for party....we always vote for personality so FAYEMI is a looser both home and Abroad EKITI in diaspora are not Happy with him cos his HOME town is nothing to write home about....talk less of his Local Govt.....his wife has been the ruling Governor since he mount Office now they will understand power beloved to the people....EKITI KETE e okun ooo

  31. Fayemi is a looser with all is exposure working with OBAMA he cant single handedly construct a bridge or standard school....not to talk of creat employment for a population of about 3million peopls Na wah and he expect re election back to looting of EKITI money to tinubu and other we re more wiser....and we EKITI KETE DONT VOTE FOR PARTY PERSONALTY MATTER MOST FAYEMI IS THE WORSE GOVERNOR EKITI HAD

  32. A dead PDP is better than a living APC. Tinubu and his band of power- hungry cohorts can walk down d atlantic ocean and have a swim before they finally hug a 1000KVA transformer.
    This is just d beginning.

  34. Until APC gets rid of the monster called TINUBU, I doubt if any sane Nigerian will identify with such a bandwagon. He has practically bought over Lagos State and made himself a demi god. APC is his larger spectrum. For now, let's manage the devil we know in 'PDP' until a better option is in view. For now, to hell with APC and their rogues.

    ReplyDelete
  35. That's good news and a good win.APC had better know they v got no good intention and we all know dat.

  36. Wow, what a good advice. The president admonished Fayose to be humble, and that is just like him too. I admire the president's humility and godliness. Motherhen

  47. It is clear to us now that Jonathan dont think about our missing girls,
it is clear that Nigerian's $20b missing is for election,
It is clear that Jonathan is ready to come president even on empty Nigeria cos i no reason for him to be celebrating while bombing is every where, killing of emir is the reigning thing in northern if care is nothing taking it will get to the east and west too very soon, those of you that are happy that DPD is taking over, i pray they take over every where in 2015 then you will all cry because Jonathan is taking Nigerians back to another set back, take note of this, if he successfully take over every where then no opposition again, subsidy will come back. and no one will challenge his authority.
