Just watched Genevieve Nnaji on CNN a few minutes ago talking about the missing Chibok girls, and she was very articulate. Some of what she said below...
"Everyone is involved .We are all mothers, we are all humans and these are young girls that have been taken to captivity. As celebrities, we thought it was our responsibility to shed light and bring to the forefront this inhumane act."
"For me I think it will be unfair to say they (the federal govt) were slow to react because nobody knew whether they reacted or not. The thing is we we weren't told, we didn't know if they were aware of the situation or not. The major problem we had was the lack of communication. We just wanted them to react to us. Now we can see things being put in place, now we can see effort being made and that will be credited to the noise that's been made, the campaigning that's been made around the world. We are grateful for all the attention." Continue...
CNN: Does she welcome foreign support?
"This has been going on way too long and there's no shame asking for help and in taking it. The truth is, terrorism is not only our problem, it's not a continent problem, it's a global issue and we all have to come together to help it because at the end of the day this is a breach of human rights and it should concern each and everyone of us.

Watched the interview as well. However I believe that the words she spoke needed to be that way because As a celebrity, she needs to be 'politically correct'. Her thoughts though, in my opinion did not exactly echo that of the citizenry
ReplyDeleteGod bless you. No It is not abt yabbin GEJ but it was jst too obvious she was tryin 2 play safe.
DeleteAnd her speech, not articulate, as social-climber Linda Ikeji insists. Linda help your self-esteem and stop boot-licking; you really do not need to. #ha.

ReplyDeleteOh how warming that see and hear the face of Nigeria movies express her very correct and current security situtation of her beloved nation security situation, which I personally believe as one of the best voice lending that have gone a longer way of presenting her nation to the world as it should be noted that what her country is facing is a world problem and no need of be ashamed that her country ask for help as it will also benefit the world by dealing with her own problem(Boko Haram) which I say she has done well...Well done screen godness.

ReplyDeleteAnd what does Linda Ikeji have to say on this Chibok ish? We're yet to hear from you.
ReplyDeleteLinda how can you classify her garbage as articulate?
ReplyDeleteGenevieve is a FOOL and should shut up her rat infested mouth. When the girls where kidnapped, Genevieve and her so called raz celebrities where attending weddings around the world including the wedding of GEJ daughter where they all got the gold plated phones with our coat of arms on it.
The ordinary people in Nigeria has brought this atrosity to light.
The vast majority of the Nigerian celebrities jumped on the wagon this week. Afterall it took her (bff) the president 3 whole weeks to respond. Useless fool.

Are you mad or just ignorant? Did the parents hear anything?? Why shouldn't we be informed?? Just shut the entire fuck up. To think I rated you.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't happy with her response, it wasn't honest and I feel it's because she didn't want to offend those in power so she can get juicy contracts or appointment in future.
ReplyDeleteYou and I know it's a political war and we are obviously not dealing with humans. Give the lady some credit

Stupid Genny, go trade your daughter....Afterone, Modafoka Assole.... Google will not lie.
When did she speak out against the kidnappings?
Her own good friend, the president only spoke about it 3 weeks after the event.
They just did not care period!!!
We may now have hundreds of gals pregnant, infected with HIV AND AIDS and so may other diseases and she can look into the Camera Lenses of CNN and LIE.
Genevive and the raz celebrities trying to minimise this atrosity should go and bury their head in SHAME. Useless Fools.

ReplyDeleteWhere is the minister for women affairs? What has she done so far? No one is even mentioning her name cos she's a northerner. Isn't she supposed to protect Nigerian women. She's in on the game. She's aware of her brothers plan. Northerners are idiots. Playing polititics with peoples life. And as usual women r always d victim. HAJIA ZAINAB MAINA and BUHARI PLS BRING BACK OUR GIRLS FROM WHEREVER U KEPT THEM. Mumu northern goats, Nigeria is for everyone and anyone could be a president. What we need is to come together as one and vote for the right person and I repeat the right person could be of any tribe. Northerners should get a life and understand that Nigeria belongs to all and that's high time they stop being a puppet for the British malice brain game of years back. VIVA

ReplyDeleteNELLY ABARE
Yes. I saw the interview. She talked like someone with brains.. Not like Our Minister of Information that was Smiling and Talking like a Comedian.. He was Even Scared.
ReplyDeleteThis is how a sensible, reasonable fellow should talk.you can't hold her to any of her words. Hope you learnt a few thing Linda.
ReplyDeleteShe actually nailed it right on the head. This issue is more than a nation's its more of the continents. Terrorism is everywhere but how the governments of the country handles it is what matters.
ReplyDeleteFor the Nigerian government, its more about the size of their stomach than the lives of the innocents.
We really do need some real young educated people in there.
Right now its all full of illiterates with no idea whatsoever on how to govern. Illiteracy is a huge epidemical issue affecting all the members of the government in Nigeria right now. Phew only God knows when the cure will arrive.
No be ur fault na,shebi u dey chop PDP money, girls ar missing for 26 days now,u dey say rubbish.go sleep joor!fed.govt action too slow chai!
ReplyDeleteVery well said Genny. D protest helped. Alot,we will get there #bringbackourgirls
ReplyDeleteQuite diplomatic. . . . Hmmm
ReplyDeleteGENNEVIEVE YOUR ANSWERS IS TOTAL CRAP. HOW CAN YOU SAY WE DIDN'T KNOW IF THEY WERE AWARE OF THE SITUATION OR NOT..".. WHAT INHUMANE ANSWER TO A TIME LIKE THIS. If you are CLEARLY AVOIDING GETTING ON GOVERNMENT BAD BOOK THEN DON'T SHOW UP AT THE INTERVIEW LEAST OF ALL TALK RUBBISH.... JUST RESPECT YOUR 35 YEARS ON THIS EARTH BEFORE WE CALL YOU OUT. NOOOOOOOONSENSE
ReplyDeleteGenevive no wan talk true. Babe u r kissing politicians' ass. Babe don't piss me off, stop this rubbish. Say d truth as it is, no need to beat around d bush. That's why I like people like ecetera, he says whateva he wants to say and won't give a Damn.
ReplyDeleteNo mattar what am proud to be a Nigerian !
ReplyDeleteWell done the face of Africa movies, She has lend the most important voice needed by her nation after spending just two days in peace after America armys landed...I say well done screen godness you have done well among your pals.
ReplyDeleteTnk u anon 9:49 4 speaking d truth. Genny is s sellout!
ReplyDeleteU have done well.
ReplyDeleteGod bless Nigeria! #bringbackourgirls# gbam!!!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with her, one of the reason the government could not overlook this incident was because of the media attention given to it. This just shows the power of the media and how effective it can be when properly used. I also like her response to the second question. I pray the girls are found.
ReplyDeleteGenny let dem hate u let dem insult u as 4 me u r d best nd u will stil remain d best one sweet tin u did again I luv so much u did not say bad abt out president# if it were sum of our celeb dey will insult gej# go on baby I luv u screen goddess of african dat is will oprah wifery called u agelina jolie of african# u too much!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Genevieve said nothing. And she defended d federal govt so blindly and foolishly. Hw can u say that it seems they were nt aware of d situation. Which situation are u talking about?an ugly incident that happened in her country. Why won't they be aware? Again, u talked abt communication. Don't even understand dt ur point.
ReplyDeleteU would ve remained at d back campaigning than speakin up and talking trash. Silence is golden most times.
Nw, even d federal govt won't be happy with u though u tried covering them up cos u ended up exposing them cos it nw seems dt they care less of their citizens.
Anyway, which is true. Hence, u achieved ntin in ur interview. U contributed ntin too. U wanted to be noticed worldwide but u ended up disgracing urself.
Seriously, u need to learn hw to grant an interview.

ReplyDeleteAdaora or whatever u are d bigger fool here... so bcus those girls got missing GEJ shud cancel the weeding that has been fixed n enter bush to look for d girls shey? Some ppl can really not reason well.. see that name Adaora doesn't fit u... y ar our soldiers paid? If I may ask? If they can't find d missing girls.u all are just waiting for d day Gej will carry cutlass n declare himself looking for d girls den all of u will know he is trying n doing his best... adaora u ar a disgrace.
ReplyDeleteNice one my Lady, you are always on point. #Bringbackourgirls
ReplyDeletethese boko haram people have been doing this for long and its no longer funny, they graduated from bombing churches to bombing large gathering ad naw to kidnapping of girls and dats bad....the govt should really do something about it
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch the interview but Genevieve's response was too naive in my opinion. It's been over 3wks and enough time for anyone to make a clear assessment on the issue. Being objective doesn't mean she'd be slandering GEJ and his regime. The president didn't react well in this situation. He showed no immediate concern neither was he seen consoling the mothers, it took him almost 3wks to establish a "fact finding" committee which raises the question, what facts where they trying to find when the girls are still missing. Our government was slow to react as well as incompetence in such issues hence the help from the US and others. We don't need to use insults to be objective. But vague responses don't help anyone in the future. If GEJ and his wife are already blaming the principal of the school as well as the governor of Borno then in same approach people have the duty to ask about the government's own efforts.
ReplyDeleteWatched it. She spoke intelligently.
ReplyDeleteThis chick is an air head. They couldn't find Joke Silva or Kate henshaw or some intelligent Naija actress to speak about this topic. No good vocabulary, she couldn't even reason properly. No thoughts or idea. It just only demeans nigerian women even more.-
ReplyDeletelin LIn i no say libers no go show genny mercy dat interview as i see am e get as e be o wen i re watch am again miss nnaji was struggling with answers to the questions thrown at her i no say grammar no be our language o but she was also struggling with her diction any how we thank God say our genny enter cnn and not poko
