    2. Besides most of these foreign celebs "borrow" the outfits. And then these Nigerian designers aren't yet as financially sound as a Armani, Westwood etc.

Truth be told, Wunmi is a celebrity and she has designers swooning over her to endorse their designs.
Do you know any designer? Apart from the fact that you see them on TV or read about them on blogs? Irrelevant nonentity. You can go and hug a transformer now. Useless creature, that's why good things never happen to you.

  13. I agree! Internationally that's how designers adverise their work.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Lol. she doesn't hold back words at all

    ReplyDelete
  15. First of, lady who-ever-you-are, the clothes are not given to 'them' for free; they are required to return it after the event. But tell us, why would any designer want you to 'hype' their work??? ) You are not impressive bo!

    1. A good designer doesn't need a perfect body to showcase his/her work. Its the work that has to be perfect for model or whoever is wearing it.

If they make everything free, they will be out of business.

  19. And who told that a lot of these "stars" r not wearing free clothes, probably no one gives her obese ass free clothes that's 10 yards of fabric for just her upper body

  26. I do agree with her... Buh then would Gucci/ prada be so kind to extend such a gesture to any female celebrity in Nigerian yet? To all this foreign designers, their designs are their 'babies'....You must have a public personality like Marilyn monroe,a pretty face like Kim k that can launch 10,000 ships, or a fat bank account for you to get free designer gift items from them which is why you see most hollywood female celebs sooo obsessed with their body weight...#Cheezyjayne

  34. was it a Nigerian Halloween Night Red carpet? @ladywitchwumiobey.

    ReplyDelete
  35. She's absolutely correct! Nigerians just have a lot of things backward here, especially in entertainment. No celebrity, I repeat, no celebrity you see on any red carpet event in the US pays for their gowns and suits! Why? Because they're advertising and promoting the designer! People then go out and are intrigued by the style and shop that designer! That's how they make their money!! The red dress Michelle Obama wore, sold out in 30 minutes! Google it! Designers send their latest design, style, etc for celebs to wear, either on loan or for free, so they get the publicity and make their money. But noooooo, so called designers here simply just don't get that. Study your Western counterparts please! You see it's working for them! That's why a lot of "designers" don't go too far outside of Nigeria here.

  36. BLOG ANALYSER: can somebody pls explain her theory to me

    ReplyDelete
  37. I so do! First to comment!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I do ......she is spot on. All these fake celebs without self worth. After buying outfits for exorbitant prices, still do the designers who most certainly have not heard their names, let alone knowing what they do, or where they are from favours by advertising their products as if they got it for free. "Slave mentality"

    ReplyDelete
  39. As she worowor reach I no go give her free dress wear. Wumi u aint a good model for designers so take a dick sit mbok

  43. I concur. For crying out loud, you paid to get the clothes. Anyway, I think it's a complex ish among we Africans, always trying to belong.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Exactly. .........nothing goes for free

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hear talk bcos u dey sing free 4 shows abi?abeg abeg go rest, age don dey set in.no matter hw smol pay dem sumtin as appreciation.free ko free ni!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I don't comment on "careless stories", but I must on this. Wunmi that's an Osho free mentality you are trying to display o, so it did not cost the designer any money and time to make the out fit, na pick he or she pick the fabric when them take make the dress. if na so you bin dey sing for free in oder to get hype, you for reach where you dey? the fact that you are a celebrity is the reason why you should even pay more, so that when you get on the red carpet you'll be proud to show off the brand you're wearing cos it didn't come cheap.

  80. Agreed, why spend way to much on clothes that if you wear twice them go yab you, and they only be for red carpet- you can still look stylish in less expensive clothes please people.
Celebs abroad either rent them or are given for free as an advertisment

    ReplyDelete
  81. @Anon 2:44 shut up! Wunmi's sister or brother! Most of the designers on Nigerian red carpet are dressed for free, that's why they make reference to who they are wearing! If u were wise, u wld have noticed that osas wore 3 diff designers in the last AMVCA! Wunmi is pained cos she is yet to be approached! Then again, a dress is necessity yet u want it to be givn u for free but I shld pay u to sing for me which is actually optional! Evn abroad, not all clothes are given out! Some celebs buy their clothes! It's like saying why shld a DJ play wizkid's song in the club when he bought it! It sounds dumb!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I agree but Nigerians don't know when to shut up... if i had to pay a fortune to make a dress if i am asked on the red carpet who it is i'll not call your name. But Wunmi this your dress shaaaaaa if you paid for this one come make i refund you. The carpenter sorry tailor is wicked.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Nigerians, please don't speak about what you don't know and state is as fact. I live in the US and work with celebrities and yes they do get free things from designers and brands, but not elaborate red carpet clothes and accessories like for the Oscars etc. Their stylists "pull" the outfits and they are LOANED the clothes and accessories in return for the publicity and many time they return it to the designers. I myself have had to return many outfits to designers in person or by mail. Yes, they can get deep discounts but no, they don't just get to use and keep all these very expensive clothes you see them in. It just doesn't work that way. Many designers here are struggling in the "designer duds" dept. and most make their real money off their cheaper affordable clothing lines, accessories and perfumes that normal everyday people buy.

Some of our celebrities do not really know der rights, u bought an out fit and just bcos u want to show off u give dem free publicity.
