First Lady Patience Jonathan pays for heart surgery for 800 children

Rabiu Obere from Nasarawa; Sultan Lamidi from Lagos; Salamatu Abdulsamad from Kano; Noah Ezeilo from Imo and Sita Omago from Akwa Ibom, are among the more than 800 children that First Lady Patience Jonathan's NGO, The A. Aruera Foundation, paid their medical bills to undergo heart related surgeries in India.

While receiving the last batch of the children from India, Dame Jonathan expressed her gratitude to God for the safe return of each child, noting that since the process started in 2013, no death has been recorded.
"We have treated more than 800 patients with no record of casualty; I’m happier than you, the parents" she said
She disclosed that a 250-bed hospital facility  edicated to the treatment of children with heart related diseases was under construction and would soon be commissioned.
"We are partnering with our international friends from South Korea, India and America who will run the hospital.’’
One of the beneficiaries, Miss Aisha Aliu, thanked the first lady on behalf of all the other children "I thank you for saving my life, for your contribution towards my heart surgery, may God bless you ma"

    2. Very generous of the First Lady.. But I'm thinking about.. If the 800 children really existed??.. If this is another scheme to loot public funds??.. Campaign coming ahead, another way to win our votes and embezzle more money??.. Well at least it is for a good cause.. Thank you MAMA PEACE..

  9. The idea of charity is good however the source of the fund is definitely not from any A. Aruera Foundation as the foundation has no pronounced sponsor or donor except someone who has the capacity to divert public funds for personal use. If the numbers are through then it should be announced under one public health scheme and not for someone who is trying to gather support for 2015

    1. Shut up your dirty mouth. Why have you failed to consider that she's in a position to influence a lot of people and organizations into donating to the charity? Must people donate and make it public? Acknowledge, for once, the good work the woman is doing. After all, going by your unsubstantiated comment, she could as well ha taken the money and use it for a selfish interest and you couldn't have done anything.

    3. Anon 4:57 you should b d one to shut ur pothole of a mouth. This is tax payers money, d parents of those 800 childrens money so she's doing her job and she shouldn't make it look like she handing out alms to d poor. If she did it thru donations/sponsors then yes she can brag and I will kiss her ass, but must our politicians loot our own money and make us feel like they r doin us a favor?? Its half brained ppl like u dat keep naija where we r.

  55. When will this era of Mumuism end? You can say wit all effontry that it's good to embezzle and spend it on charity. Does that mean its good to use the money people have died for waiting to earn and to collect as pension everywhere and you say its good that A Aruera Foundation is posing off as its achievement. She should have just passed it off as a First Ladies Project which will tell us its Public funds for public use. So pls dont display your ignorance simply because you are privileged to. 61. nigerians are sooo naive, first off why are thanking her and praising her the money that went into making this possible belong to the ppl not her. it not her money so stop praising her, if not for the corruption and lawlessness of this country we wont have rely on her to do something like this in her name and get credit for it like it her hard earned money. it stolen money stolen from the ignorance of the ppl she has in return decided to give a little back thru a so called charity. it very sad nigeria and africa is sad.this shouldnt be a charity organized by the first lady my *ss this should be right deserving of the nigerian ppl most a especially the children a right to adequate medical care. corruption is always suffered by the poor and innocent. children r dying and she is flying around the world and giving back thru foundation my *ass

  68. Ok. We appreciate her generosity, but reality is that teaching hospitals (Uch Ibadan and Unth Nsukka)in Nigeria have been performing heart surgeries successfully for some time now; i think one of them even has some american based Nigerian doctors that came back home to donate like two years of their time to this.

Do you know how much treatment of these 800 hundred kids will cost in india, lets say 800 X 10 million= 8 billion naira.

If you treat these kids in Nigeria at those teaching hospitals and give the money to those hospitals to buy equipment, do you know the difference that it will make to Nigerias healthcare system but instead we have gone to donate it to India. Where these teaching hospital or ministry of health consulted before the children were sent to india.

That is the problem of Nigeria, our leaders believe in doing everything abroad, that is why even malaria they will enter private jet and travel abroad.

Yes, she tried, but she and her advisers didnt do their research, and they missed the chance to kill two birds with the proverbial one stone.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Very nice and generous BUT!!doing the math for the total cost of all surgeries, questions would be raised.Close to $50 Million!!Tht can set up specialised surgical centres with over qualified surgeons to run the place.Y take the money to india?

  70. Wonderful....may God bless her, as for those adding "BUT" I think that "ETOO ONYE NA OTU OLARU, OLAA NNUKWU AMU NA OTU NWANYI OCHA" my Igbo brothers, don't be surprise that I can wrte in ur language, my Igbo friend here taught. We are one.

  77. Stupid, Mumu Nigerians, instead of hailing and worshiping her for giving handouts from what is yours to begin with-stolen from the countries coffers. Why doesn't her husband build a solid world class heart hospital in various regions of the country? The slave mentality is what will not let this country advance. She should die already. I am tired of seeing her greedy fat face. Awon ole-bastards.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I don't want to be cynical, however there's no need for this generosity if the country has well equipped hospital with qualified personnel . There's nothing like that here in UK cus the health institution is accessible to all irrespective of ur financial situation or social standing. Therefore pple should stop all this rubbish of thanking her cus if her husband has done right by the citizens there's will be no need for these jamboree

  80. First - thank God for favour for these children. Second - our money, enriching foreign doctors and improving their skills, yet government cannot invest in developing the healthcare industry in Nigeria! Surgical skills are not rocket science, they are learnt and honed by practice. Equipment and infrastructure are bought with money. Let us develop this nation, its our only one. Not everyone will be able to go to India!
