Got this report from a freelance journalist who witnessed the incident on Friday Dec. 3rd. According to him, officials of the Abuja
Environmental Protection Board and police stripped a taxi driver naked after they caught him trying to pick passengers at Kuchingoro Junction along airport road in Abuja. He said as the taxi driver stopped at the junction to pick passengers (He said taxis are allowed to pick passengers at that junction), the AEPB officials came out of nowhere, surrounded the taxi driver and tried to drag him into their Hilux truck. When he tried to resist, they tore his clothes and stripped him naked. (You will find the photo evidence after the cut).
The eyewitness said as he and another reporter got to the scene and started asking questions, a female police officer started shooting into the air to scare them and others away. But when they refused to leave and promised to expose what they did, the police officers entered their truck and drove off. See pics after the cut.
Shells of some of the bullets they shot.
Stupid police people, y will they strip him naked?

ReplyDeleteyou can take a black man out of the jungle, but you cannot take the jungle out of him. this has nothing to do with whether the officials are refined or not. why would anyone think that stripping someone in public can ever be a way to enforce a law.
ReplyDeletewe have many educated people .infact over educated, but the lack of finesse is a major problem especially in the police force in naija. and making ridiculous arguments
Na wa oo...dey can trace dos pple tru d shells of d bullets

ReplyDeleteWell, thank God no one was hurt.
ReplyDeleteThings re happening.
ReplyDeleteThank God they decided to stand up for that taxi driver, now can you imagine how much more stuff we can get done if we all stand up for one another any time the police tries to harass us? This story while negative for the police gives me hope that at least we still have compassion for our fellow Nigerians..
ReplyDeleteThe rate at which people dehumanize others in Nigeria is just alarming. This is why other parts of the world still categorise us as a 3rd world rustic nation. Its appalling
ReplyDeleteThis is police brutality!
ReplyDeleteIGP will do well to punish all the erring officers involved. This type of crude method of enforcing our laws will only expose our officers as one with very poor record of human rights. This type of human rights violation needs to be nipped in the bud. Our police need to be more professional in the way they apprehend offenders, so that the international community will not see Nigeria as a banana republic.
Is that meant to be an arrest or a beat-down??
ReplyDeleteBABARIC!
ReplyDeleteBABARIC!
ReplyDeleteI tire for this country sha. Smh

ReplyDeleteWhat will they charged him for if they did take him away or are they ritualists?
ReplyDeleteAre this nigerian law enforcement officers serious. Nigeria is falling apart what I'm I still doing here sef.
ReplyDeleteWhen will the police start protecting citizens in Nigeria instead of molesting them? This brutality. What could have been the offence that they had to strip him naked? What's gonna happen now after they have been exposed?
ReplyDeleteIn as much as I don't support what dis officials did,the driver shouldn't have resist arrest abuja is one of the states military men are working day and night to curb the excesses of boko haram so every law and order must be maintained by citizens also, the taxi man could ve been anything sentiments aside.
ReplyDeletemay God punish AEPB guys ad d police on duty dat is all I hav 2 say
ReplyDeleteDats just crazy. .....nd simply inhumane

ReplyDeleteThe animals we choose to be in this country tho. Thanks Linda for this post. They ran away, but thank God we already have their pictures here. Linda, I beg of you since you already have their pictures here,if you can make this matter a big deal so those guys can be apprehended please do. We as Nigerians need to learn how to start treating people with justice BY THE LAW & not by animalistic behaviours/actions/emotions.
ReplyDeleteAnother call for justice
ReplyDeleteFools. Asinine unwholesome pig headed civil servants using power on incubacy to cheat the civilians. Well, nemesis will catch up with them. Fools
ReplyDeleteIt's Good we have this crime in pictures, let's hope our judicial system can put these guys in order, if a taxi driver carries passengers from the wrong place, d penalty isn't to strip him naked, they should follow due course for such offense.- Mr angry citz
ReplyDeleteNigerian police, their heart is as black as the black uniform they wear. They are not ♏Æ” friend.
ReplyDeleteThey shd be prosecuted.

ReplyDeleteNigerians can be civilized, it's utter nonsense.. Our Police are known to be over zealous in enforcing their duties. The issue with the Nigerian Police Force is that they are untrained and never act to handle the ordinary Nigerians with respect..
ReplyDeleteThis is sad, persin papa! Later they would open their dirty mouth to vomit the words,"Police is your friend"!

ReplyDeleteLinda, thanks for posting this news, SeyiBello.
ReplyDeleteSorry oga driverm
ReplyDeletenigerian police very useless set of frustrated nincompoops
ReplyDeleteThe police officers lack basic intelligence and they are completely untrained int he finer arts of policing. One of those bullets could have easily ricochet and hit someone. It is quite sad when the armed robbers treat their victims better than the police does.
ReplyDeleteGod punish them
ReplyDeleteHe was lucky he was stripped naked, wat if he was shot nko. Hate them wif passion
ReplyDeleteThe officer has no experience any ordinary constable. when did a lady start to carry gun.?
ReplyDeleteThe officer has no experience any ordinary constable. when did a lady start to carry gun.?
ReplyDeleteIts very saddening how power gets to peoples heads in this country. It would be even more sad if nothing is done about this. Big kudos to the witnesses who refused to be passive by-standers; may God bless them and protect them for looking out for their fellow citizen and showing love. God bless Nigeria!
ReplyDeleteGOD WILL SAVE US FROM NPF , AEPB & V.I.O IN ABUJA. V.I.O CAUSE A FRIEND OF MINE TO DAMAGE HER CAR WHILE SHE SWERVE 2 AVOID THEIR CHASE OF A BUS DRIVER. Omgosh!!! WTF wen will Nigerian change their attitude?? They can't try all these in other countries. . Nigerian has a long way to go.. thanks to the good citizens who rescued the cab man.. Linda abeg ooo post my comment
ReplyDeleteThis is a reflection of the near total collapse of governance that now pervades the entire country with nincompoops ruling us there will be many more horrific activities. Very soon the ordinary people will be left with no option than to defend themselves from these bunch of demented tyrants, that is what will finally bring sanity back. As long as the people continue to accept this bullsh*t, anarchy ill continue unabated.
ReplyDeleteOnly God knows d rate at which I hate d police force.
ReplyDeleteD new style now in naija is 2 strip people naked at d slightest opportunity.
