The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has ordered the Broadcasting Society of Nigeria (BON) and the
Independent Broadcasting Society of Nigeria, IBAN, to lift the ban imposed on all Nigerian artistes registered with the Copyrights Society of Nigeria ( COSON).
BON/IBAN banned the artists late last year after falling out with COSON over royalties of artistes. (Read all about it
HERE).
NBC has waded into the matter and ordered BON to suspend the ban. Read NBC's pronouncement after the cut...
The earlier the better, they should meet each other half way
ReplyDeleteDidn't feel the impact of the ban, good new for the affected artists anyway

BON is Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, while IBAN is Independent Broadcasting Association Of Nigeria. Linda, thank me latter.

ReplyDeleteOh english... Supu ya nwa m. #everestius speaking#
DeleteIt's called 'clog' not 'cloak'. Does that even make sense to u? When in doubt, use google. It's free as air.
DeleteOkay... That's Good!
ReplyDeleteDem dey mad y dem suspend am dem 4 leave am na mtcheew nonsense pple...
ReplyDeleteThe way this people give orders here and there, it seems they don't know we are in a civilized society where you do not just dictate orders and expect them to be carried out. In as much as I believe that artistes should be paid royalties for their work that is aired, I do not think barking down orders would resolve the impasse. Dialogue is and still remains the way forward.
ReplyDeleteWe thank God for that
ReplyDeleteGud 2 hear. Mr melvin say so
ReplyDeleteHaba lindus, u for crop n paste for us na . That news paper done weak gan ......Ck
ReplyDeleteChange has its price tag. Most palatable in small incremental packages.

ReplyDeleteDint even feel the tiniest effect of the so called ban
ReplyDeleteIt seems we are back to the dark days of the Military “Orders” . The NBC is a product of the Military and that is starting to show even in a democratic regime.
ReplyDeleteIt is clear from the report that there was no agreement between the parties. How long can this moves last.
ReplyDeleteThey have started again with their sharing formula. Emeka Mba is protecting and promoting his friend’s business interest in COSON. I mean what is NBC’s business in forcing a station to play a particular music? Does Emeka Mba think he is still in Censor’s Board where he can ban and unban music and films and force Nigerians to listen to trash on radio and TV?
ReplyDeleteBobby. I agree with you totally. NBC should get their right before embarking on this kind of journey. Now NBC wants to be popular by entering into an issue that is not within its jurisdiction. Emeka Mba might spoil his name with this kind of influenced moves. NBC has failed to address the major issue of "MONOPOLY"
ReplyDeleteWhy is coson running from pillar to post just to be in control. Na wa ooooo. This is another film titled “The Fall of NBC” by Emeka Mba
ReplyDeleteAnonymous Emeka MBA wants to do notice me stuff, he knows the issues and the history of this struggle but he choose to dine with the Devil. Where on Earth does he derive such powers from? Is he the one who will pay the money on behalf of Bon and Ivan? Busy body
ReplyDeleteBon and Iban knows that MCSN own control 85% of the works they have used and are still using so if they decide to listen to busy body Emeka Mba what happens when MCSN come asking for their pay? Will they be ready to pay twice?
ReplyDeleteAll the wuru wuru wey Okoroji do by dropping names of people as members of COSON don open for ever I body to see. From Don Jazzy to PSquare to DBanj to Davido they have all said they were never COSON members. Mtceessssssss
ReplyDeleteEMEKA MBA don't come again we never forget d NOLLYWOOD DISTRIBUTION SCHEME PROJECT wet so much millions went into intact some marketers who paid are today shadows of themselves no store no shop no nothing make e just mind him business.
ReplyDeleteOkoro OJI think set name I'm papa get this Nigerian Industry time don't dey reach when e go account for all the artist money way e don't wacky.
ReplyDeleteOkoroji did PMAN President for two terms and raked in over N23M Naira. Guys do you know what that amount could do for a Union at that time? Naira was going for almost 1 to1 to a Dollar then. Okoroji left with no kobo in the accounts not even a stapler did he buy for the Union. Today as big as PMAN is She is still a tenant. Shame and today he is still claiming to be representing the Nigerian Artist chopping their money in name of COSON no accountability no transparency. He is the Accountant ant, the Cashier with a puppet Board he put in place as a smoke screen. Time for reckoning is now we can no longer be fooled.
ReplyDeleteBon and Ivan sure knows what they are doingI believe. So they ccan't be push here and there by NBC their regulatory power doesn't cover that. It ends at ensuring that the Ban and Iban meets the broadcast code of 80 % broadcast of local contents and ensuring that their contents is well screened for unhealthy materials such as fowl language and so on. It dosnt include forcing the broadcasters to use or sign agreements with anybody for contents it is the right of the broadcast company to choose where ever they choose to source for their contents.
ReplyDeleteWhy Nigerian tins dey different self. I think this matter name purely a private tin. So wet in con concern NBC inside abi Okoroji don't settle MBA too?
ReplyDeleteLind make u help ask EMEKA MBA which one be him own.
