This has got to be the weirdest Dear LIB readers question ever. Wasn't sure if I should put it up but here it is...
"Linda and fellow LIB readers, please help! I am a nursing mother/wife. I get wet and sometime cum when I'm breastfeeding my 7 months old son who happens to be my first baby. When he suckles my breast...gosh! What is happening to me? Are there other mothers out there who have had similar feelings? What can I do to stop this? Am I developing unhealthy sexual feelings for my own son or what is this? Please I need help!

ReplyDeleteI don't think there's anything to be afraid of, there are several women that have had the same experience. It will stop and you can also try to focus your mind on something totally different when you're breastfeeding.

It is more likely than normal simulation of the breastss during sexual activities because right now your body has a large amount of Oxytocin that can play a role in orgasms. ReplyDeleteNo, It is natural. The act of sucking on the breast releases oxytocin. Oxytocin is a hormone that makes the uterus contract. That's why you are experiencing this. It's different for everyone.

Linda tell her not worry its normal. If she googles there is lots of infomation on that. Also check on the NHS uk website there is some info on that. Some women do that regardless of the sex of the child its the hormones kicked off by the sucking.

ReplyDeleteWhat's happening to u is u allow yourself get carried away while breastfeeding and ur mind wanders to anything sexual remember the nipple is also for sexual stimulation.. unfortunately Nigeria isn't a place where professional help for such things are common and the stigma that goes with it isnt something u wanna face so only u can help yourself. I hope u feel better knowing its a normal thing that happens to some people however self control is the best help u can get. u can also try to control the way your baby plays wit ur body while he sucks and if possible stop breast feeding as soon as possible

There are a lot of sensitive nerves in the nipples - manipulation of the nipples causes the release of prolactin and oxytosin, which are hormones that are also released during sex activity. So don't about it, you're fine.

What u shoud do at dis point since ur baby is more than 6months is to stop breastfeeding totally and start giving solid. The minute you had those feelings your maternal instinct should have override your sexual desire and you should have stopped breast feeding IMMEDIATELY. What you have revealed is deeply disturbing . Please stop breast feeding and get help quickly. There is a scientific reason why breast feeding your child cannot lead to sexual arousal due to the interplay of hormones , God is great like that. Dis is perfectly normal.. dont feel guilty about it, it's the hormone Oxytocin that is released while breastfeeding plus it also causes ur Uterus to contract which can give an arousing feeling

ReplyDeleteHi. For some women, the nipples are very sensitive and stimulation may cause wetness, etc. Does this happen when your partner suckles? Or did it just start with your baby? It might just be how your body reacts when your nipples are stimulated. First, to avoid unhealthy feelings , don't breastfeed for the purpose of getting stimulated even if your body is asking for it. Second, there are other ways of giving your baby breast milk without your baby sucking your breast (do ur research and pick the most preferable, if you would go with this option). Third, you should see a gp or an endocrinologist. Stay healthy! Cheers

There is nothing to be embarrassed about.
It's a normal physiological response to lactation hormones. Breastfeeding feels good! If it didn't, very few mothers would do it. It might help to understand just what hormonal responses are taking place.
As your baby nurses, prolactin — known as the "mothering hormone" — stimulates the body to manufacture milk. This hormone gives you a feeling of relaxation and well-being. Oxytocin, another hormone secreted during breastfeeding, causes the alveoli to contract, releasing milk into the ducts, the milk sinuses, and your baby's mouth. This hormone is responsible for the tingling sensation some mothers feel before a milk ejection reflex, or letdown, and the postpartum uterine cramping felt while breastfeeding.
Oxytocin also causes labor contractions during childbirth and pleasure contractions during orgasm. Varying amounts of oxytocin are attributed to these different contractions. The arousal you describe while nursing may also be the result of the empowerment and satisfaction you feel knowing that you are meeting all of your daughter's nutritional and emotional needs at the breast.
Its not wierd, if it gets too much, why not pump ur breast and bottle feed him instead....unless u gat ulterior reasons as to why u wanna continue. You're just prolly one of those women with overly sensitive nipples.

Its called erotic lactation. You're not developing sexual feelings for your baby.... lol. A doctor might be able to explain better,but its not sth to be ashamed of. Most mothers who experience this just stop breastfeeding early cos of how uncomfortable it makes them feel. If it bothers you too much, you can just pump the milk into a bottle and carry on feeding the baby like that. I wouldn't worry. But atleast I'd know what to tell the husband to do to me to get me going...*wink*
