Health of pregnant woman assaulted by Lebanese boss deteriorates

According to a report by Premium Times, the health of the factory worker assaulted by her Lebanese boss causing her to lose her 7 months pregnancy, has drastically deteriorated & requires urgent blood transfusion.
"I just finished talking with the surgeon that did the emergency surgery and he said her condition has worsen sharply since yesterday. Her stitches were removed today but the doctor said she is very weak and under serious emotional trauma. He said she needs immediate blood transfusion or else her situation would get worse,” Alexandra Ossai's lawyer told Premium Times
The lawyer also said Mrs Ossai's condition has got so bad that she can hardly talk without feeling intense pain. The factory worker now needs financial assistance, as she's yet to pay the hospital bill for the emergency surgery done on her two weeks ago. Most of her other bills since the incident has been covered by her lawyer. Continue...

Despite the order from President Goodluck Jonathan, who got interested in the case after the news of her maltreatment went viral on social media, that top members of his cabinet should supervise the investigation and provide support for Mrs. Ossai, she is yet to receive any help whatsoever.

Also, on Saturday, relatives of Mrs Ossai expressed concern that the police might be surreptitiously working to exonerate Mr. Noine and his company, Toppan.

However, the police have denied this saying it is doing everything to properly investigate the matter.
The Lagos State Police Commissioner, Umar Tanko, has called a meeting between representatives of Mrs. Ossai and Toppan tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.

Meanwhile, Mr. Erhuen has concluded plans to institute a civil action in court against Mr. Noine and Toppan on Monday pending the outcome of the police investigation.

  1. I hope this is not swept under the carpet! Like other major cases that the law should have exacted its iron hand on like aluu 4, the woman that was beaten by vigilante but allowed to just die down

  12. for the fact that mr noine ran to kano and hide is enough proof that he committed the offence, no one should cover him up in this dastardly act, nigerians cannot mess up in their own country, they should not come here and turn us to slaves in the name of providing employment. he should be dealt with to send proper signals to other arrogant foreign factory owners in nigeria.

  16. Hi Linda, this is the worse pain a woman can go through not to think that she will not even see the baby to console herself with.

Please could you post her account details let’s see what we can help her with the Government of this crazy country should please take up this case and ensure the Lebanese guy company pay her bills until she is fully recovered. The corrupt Nigerian police should stop playing politics with this case otherwise the blood of that innocent child will flood in their homes. This is not business as usual!!!!!

  28. Even if the employer is not responsible for the woman's predicament, it is the duty of the employer to cover for the health issues resulting from work the employee is employed to do or at least provide health insurance.

  29. Let the presidency and other concerned agencies fast track action on the prosecution of this Lebanese. The longer the delay the greater the chances of this case being swept under carpet by the Nigerian Police Force. While I wish this woman a divine healing and quick recovery I expect the presidency to live up to his bidding by taking full financial responsibility of this needy nigerian.

  30. Wot about the father of the baby. Her family Nko, bcos the case is now public nobody wants to foot the bills

  32. It is unfortunate that this has to get the president's attention before the case can be looked into. In a working country, it is the job of the police and the courts to get things handled properly. Nigerians are looking to up to the Nigerian Police to do what is right and boost the reputation. This is a golden opportunity for the force to show Nigerians that they are working. I believe in the force until they prove otherwise. Innocent until proven guilty as we say in a working country not the other way round.
