Photo of the day: Lagos leaving Nigeria behind! Lol

This is a photo of the Lagos State Government's ten-lane Lagos-Badagry Expressway and railway line. Erm...yeah, people are already trading on the rail tracks. Lol.

The Lagos –Badagry expressway is a Federal Government road which is currently being expanded to 10 lanes to accommodate a BRT lane and light rail through collaborative efforts of the state govt, the  federal govt and international financial agencies.

Julius Berger is handling the 10 lane road segment while China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), is handling the Light Rail section of the road.

Fashola for his numerous achievements here in Lagos, though they says to whom much is given much is expected, the Gov. should pls consider to give Lagos/Abeokuta a face lift as well before his tenure expires in the 2yrs, because living that route in the hands of the PDP ruling party, is like barbing on side of the head and leave the other to look like a mad mans look, otherwise the unkempt side might rubbish the other side. the populations on that side of the state is becoming something else day by day since Oshodi axis was opened up.

  59. My advice is for the construction firms to build a light fence to prevent people from trading on the rail lines, if the picture posted is very visible, am very sure it's one of the Lagos woman trading on the rail lines. Secondly, the govt of Lagos should also spend money in enlightening the common man to keep his/her environment clean especially infrastructures place to help the common man.

  69. Linda, get your facts right. Julius Berger are done with theirs which is the construction of Mile 2 bridge. They did Orile as well but due to some political circumstances, they shift hands to the Chinese construction company which at the moment are projecting the way forward for handling the 10 lanes and of course, the rail lines. They work like snails. I live close to this area so don't sit down at home, watching TV while some dude give you false news.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Where did u get dat info? D pain people go tru every day on dis same road. Better expirence than to say.

    ReplyDelete
  71. So umm, @luskii, the word 'children' also includes teenagers. And I don't see why teenagers can't read LIB. And even if its only adults that read this blog, it's still not a good enough reason for someone to use an avatar that appears to be a provocative picture. Can you tell me that the motive is entirely pure? Why not use pictures of pigs from a clear direct angle? And as for you that started a heated tribal argument, that was rather primitive and makes you look uneducated. And I doubt that you are educated anyway...in other news, I pray that Nigeria keeps moving forward.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Nigerians Lack basic research culture and getting the right information. Plus Linda is not helping matters too.

The project is not a federal government project. Its a world bank project, Ecowas and Lagos state government project. In 2011 durring the flag off of the project and the world bank wanted to release the funds for the project. The Lagos state government took FG to court to prevent the federal government from Hijacking the funds. In fact, the fight between lagos and FG was a major reason the project took off late.

The world bank fund was for the expansion of the lanes from lagos to Benin to cut across the border between Nigeria and Benin. This is to ease trade between Nigeria and Benin and to remove all barriers. I even heard the Benin axis of the project is almost completed. Lagos state government introdued the light rail line in the project. The rail line is financed by Lagos state government.
Please Linda, before you post anything regarding the government, do your research and put out the true information. You are doing Nigerians a deservice if you keep spreading fake information.

ONCE AGAIN, THERE IS NO FEDERAL GOVERNMENT KOBO IN THIS PROJECT. DONT COME AND TELL US IN SOME YEARS TIME HOW OIL MONEY WAS USED TO FINANCE THE PROJECT.
This is strictly Lagos state and World bank grants money. The federal government is involved because the project cuts across the borders.

  73. Linda seriously this picture is gonna deceive a whole lot of people. This people are not doing anything..Right now i dunno if its Julius Berger or the Chinese people...cos i believe its not Julius Berger and to tell u the truth this Chinese people are not doing anything.from mile two going toward agboju, alakija, abule ado, then get to trade fair...if u meet the traffic there u will pity pple, before u can now get to barracks towards Agric, volks and iyanaoba....i just feel pity for pple staying towards that area..U wake up as early as 3 or $am and ur home by 12 or 1am ready to prepare for work the next day...most times d parents with children don't even get to see their kids from day to day.And what is the cause of all this?BAD ROAD.
A pot hole on the road can make u stay on that road for hours before u get to ur destination and those china pple r there.just to pour sand or stones and cover up the place for the main time before they finally get to that main point of the road is a problem for them. They watch pple suffer, treckn long distances everyday and don't care.Even the govt that gave them the contract don't even check up on them to see if they are going on with the work or not.Sometimes i wonder if they fly pass that road. And the day they'll finally pass that road..they will get all the police and army to block the already blocked road so they can pass. This Government is wicked.and after they pass, that is the end. They don't have a say cos they employed cheap labour to do the job...this Chinese people are just digging up holes everywhere, blocking all the alternatives routes and not doing anything...
Linda, pple staying from Alakija going down to iyana-oba,okoko area on badagry express way are suffering on that road.
When will it end?pls someone should read this and help us do something fast.
Pls Linda post my comment oooooo..Thank you!!!

The Lagos- Kano rail line was rehabilitated with the SURE- P funds and commissioned on the 20th Dec, 2012. Not enough credit goes to SURE- P for their efforts. Its ridiculous.
